    I just ordered a 50 foot, half inch wort coil for my heater and will likely be building it very similar to yours. I picked up a used 30 lb tank that was half full and am currently using it up heating my garage.
    I just realized that I left a comment a few days ago while signed into my other account "Joel Arseneault" oops.
    I rewatched your videos to pick up a few more details as I am very forgetful. I think your heater is pretty impressive, all things considered. I'm curious if my 50 foot coil will make much difference.

    Great video series. I’m surprised it doesn’t have many more views.
    Your burner can be easily upgraded to make it way more efficient and clean. I recently followed a design from the Creative Inventions LMTN channel.
    I was VERY sceptical about how well it would work, but to my surprise, it has a nice blue flame with very little smell. I have tested it with a CO meter as well as TVOC, CO2 and formaldehyde tester, and it is surprisingly good.
    I have burnt about 200L of waste oil now and am considering building a water heater… that’s how I came across your video.
    Edit: The video I got my idea from is 3 burner types to get blue flame. I used the design with 3mm holes. 9 holes in the top, and 20 holes in the side of the tube. I used 2” square tube. Note that the baffle is important and the height of it also changes the quality of the burn. I will publish a video about my burner at some point, but don’t have one edited yet.

      Hey, thanks for your comment! I suppose it comes down to the RUclips Algorithm and how it decides to promote more popular channels.
      I know of the video you speak of, it was one I watched in my research. There is potential with my combustion chamber to make various burner designs and that style may be one I try in the future.

      @@rad1876 Yes, the algorithm plays a huge part in views. YT also likes insane video titles “Big Oil doesn’t want you to know this water heating secret” … for example. Honest people have a hard time getting views.
      I’m glad you know of that video. I don’t even have a dedicated oil pot / reservoir… my 20lb tank is the oil reservoir and it works amazingly well.
      I can see your small exhaust diameter possibly being an issue, but have purposely caused restrictions to mine and it still runs well.
      Cheers.

    Great video mate, did you look into having a double or triple pass design? Or making the exhaust come out of the bottom, to keep the heat in, as the exhaust would need to cool down first to get out of the heater

      I didn’t change this design radically from my first attempt so I could reuse several components. The air inlet is at the bottom on both versions so that prevents me from exhausting downward.
      The combustion gasses do make their way through a lengthy route before making their way up the chimney.

    Hey...Great Design. How much would it cost for you to build me one of these?

    • @rad1876
      @rad1876  4 месяца назад

      Good question. Off the top of my head, without pricing out everything in detail I’d say somewhere in the $500 range. It’s the little things such as the oil pump and control that quickly add up. If you were to go with a drip feed, maybe a bit less.
      Other expensive part is shipping, the heavy & bulky unit will be expensive to ship.

      @@rad1876 Thanks for your fast response. I'm thinking about hooking something like this to my Central Outdoor Boiler wood burning stove to reduce the amount of wood i burn every year. I live in northern Minnesota and go through 8 to 12 cords per year. I thought I could supplement that by burning waste oil from farm equipment. Do you think its possible with this unit?

    • @rad1876
      @rad1876  4 месяца назад

      The idea to supplement your wood usage is sound but as usual execution is everything.
      I would say this design is light duty, not meant for many hundred hours of continuous use.
      Operation is still somewhat crude and requires supervision, with enhancements it could be more autonomous.
      Aside from a bit of tweaking it could work great at using your used oil and you can get some extra BTUs from it.

      @@rad1876 Thanks for your input. Im thinking of installing the waste oil burner ahead of my wood boiler on the cold water return line. This would dump the preheated water into my hot water storage tank on the wood boiler which is regulated to 180 degrees. I would then use the controls on the wood boiler stove to circulate the hot water through my infloor heat.Any thoughts on this? Thanks.
