@@colleen4ever says the entire series of samurai Jack and good storytelling. plus a big deal of hardcore fans who couldn't give less of a fuck about ashi
I get it now... The reason why we didn't get a movie or this ending in the show...was because we've grown with Samurai Jack since we first watched it back then... We journeyed with him and saw his struggles... This game isn't just a retread of old grounds, it's our own test! Jack didn't get his happy ending before because he was doing it, for the most part, alone... Now, we fight with Jack, standing by his side to prove ourselves as the warriors we all strived to be! Just like Baby Momo, we became one with the Samurai Spirit! And our goal wouldn't be to just see the same ending again. A true warrior knows better than to embark on a fruitless journey. No, we set our goals higher! We aim to get it done and EARN the happy ending! This isn't just Jack's Happy Ending...it's Ours! This was our Battle Through Time...and this is our VICTORY! BEAUTIFUL!
But I'm not aiming for the s5 ending. I'm gonna go higher. I'M MAKING FANFICS CANON! HOW'D YA LIKE THAT OBAMA!? ASHI AND JACK ARE TOGETHER, YOU IDIOT! -Eggman, maybe
Allow me to explain. By defeating Aku and collecting the 50 coins. The gods decided to reward Jack by using the coins power to time this and that have her exist
For this, for this alone, I will be getting this game. That ending ticked me off so much. If you like it, fine, you've found a way to enjoy it in a way I simply cannot see. After all the crap that Jack went through as well as the fact that the good friends he made no longer and may never exist, Jack deserved to be happy.
I respectfully disagree. The show's ending was the proper way to end Samurai Jack's story. As much as I would love for Jack to have a happy ending with Ashi, he couldn't have his victory over Aku without sacrifice. Jack couldn't have Ashi, whose mere existence is connected to Aku, be the means to defeat Aku without consequence.
@@StareachValcin I mean Jack probably sealed aku in a magic coca cola bottle and hide it somewhere no one can find so he and ashi could live a happy life together.
@Luke Fraczek you can believe whatever helps you sleep at night. its the idea of carrying someone with you. thats why the lady bug is in the scene before she is. He remembers her based off that. Its a nice moment not sure why you have to ruin it with your own desperate needs
This was the ending we needed back a few years ago. Not a rushed episode ending on a bittersweet note. Our boy Jack got the girl! This is how you end a series.
This is purely cathartic. Seeing Jack have his own happy ending after fighting to take down Aku and live his new life with Ashi is one thing, but the fact that this is the canon ending to the series according to the creators of this game (which means the other ending is simply retconned out of existence) is simply all what fans looked for, and it's just perfect.
Given that this game is technically cannon, this actually kind comes across as an apology for the way the series ended. The final episode had good moments, but I think we can all agree that it was kinda rushed, which was probably more so CN's fault than the creators. An hour's worth of material squeezed into about 20 minutes just doesn't work. This makes up for it though if not a little bit.
True, one of my main issues was how Ashi disappearing made no sense. If she was going to vanish since Aku's future doesn't exist anymore, wouldn't she have disappeared right after his defeat? Having her conveniently vainsh on Jack's wedding day felt to much like forcing a tragic twist for the sake of being bittersweet imo
It was a delayed effect on time travel. It was time finally catching up to a daughter of a time manipulating eldritch abomination of evil that warped 1000 years, finally correcting and stabilizing, so that any thing that shouldn't exist finally cease to exist. Ashi disappears due to her "father" never existing in the first place. Samurai Jack's ending being very similar to Gurren Lagann's where (S P O I L E R S) Nina dies due to her hive race dying the anti-spiral leader being the hive mind and anything connected to it would die. Nina being a hybrid delayed her demise as well as her willpower to stay with Simon till the end.
@@OmegaRidley64 Thx for explaining, but I'll be honest, it doesn't change the ending all that much for me. Personally, Ashi dissappearing on their wedding day is a little too much of a dramatic convenience for me. The whole scenario really goes to show how much of a headache time travel is to use in your story. It's not the fault of Samurai Jack, time travel is just tricky to utilize
I like how Jack is happy in both endings. A great example to follow. Life will hit us with horrible situations, but its on us whether we let those situations crush us or not!
I mean, I wouldn't exactly call Jack happy in the original ending. That smile at the end isn't really him being happy, its more him realizing that he can still cherish the time they spent together and eventually move on. He's still grieving.
As far as I'm concerned, THIS is the TRUE CANON ending! Aku pulled one last attempt to stop Jack from Returning to the past, yet he unknowingly gave him the best parting gift he could ever ask for; to spend his now peaceful life with his love, Ashi.
As rough as the year 2020 has been for myself along with many others, there have been a few moments this year that brought a smile to my face. THIS! THIS is definitely one of them!
yes and ashi to s5 was her story i always felt the story was half complete in the original it was her choice to make however i wanted her to have a happy conclusion to they were born opposite light and dark yin and yang but together beat the true master of darkness the only thing left was for them to be together and this ending gives us that
“The past: a new and uncertain world. A world of endless possibilities and infinite outcomes. Countless choices define our fate: each choice, each moment, a moment in the ripple of time. Enough ripple, and you change the tide... for the future is never truly set.” Charles Xavier
Now why couldn’t we have that for the animated series ending that would have been a lot better. Now jack go and make some new memories with the woman you love.
Tbh it would have been better if Jack knew beforehand that Ashi would die THEN fight Aku, helping them realize and decide that they still wanted to defeat Aku even if Ashi would disappear.
-defeats you -kills your sisters -unbrainwash you -kill your source of existance -marries you this time he keeps you for realsies. hella arc for ashi tbh.
@Shane Douglas there is a plot twist on a game called super robot wars X where Nia is no more eternal and she become pure human thanks to the power of blue water
They almost had us in the first half with that tone shift, not gonna lie Nice for Jack to get a less bittersweet ending, the people he knew through his journey might not exist anymore, but at least this time Ashi's still there who really knows what he went through
the time travelling and warping must have been able to detach ashi from the original fate. making her be able to resist dying and being able to exist now. wow. makes sense.
Personally I was never bothered by Ashi fading away like she did. It made for a bitter sweet ending. Though, everything that came before it was so rushed. I feel like this makes up for it though, given this ending is technically CANNON with the Samurai Jack plot.
There is a problem with this ending though. It leaves open that Aku MAY return. Maybe not now but maybe in the distant future since a part of him will always live on in Jack's descendants.
I just finished watching Samurai Jack because I was depressed. Got more depressed after the ending. Went to RUclips to see some random videos and there it is. Thanks for this!
After seeing this, some unnamed stress inside of me suddenly relaxed itself. I could feel something change. Like a wrong had been righted, something that weighed on me even though I didn't know it.
Jack has said that the time travel process has made it so that time has no affect on him. Seeing as how Jack and Ashi both travelled through time, it would stand to reason that they are both immortal now. In that case, they would eventually live in the time that the Scotsman would have been born in, although I don’t know if he would exist in this universe without Aku
I still don't like the fact that Jack didn't cared that much and just left without saying goodbye to his allies in the game. Its still out of character for him.
@@Virg1956 You got perfectly why I didn't like the last fight or how the series treated all Jack's friends in the ending. He knew that he had to go back to the past because that was a bad future for people and without Ali dominating them for years the would have been happier, but he should have been sad that he would part ways with them and never see them because reality would have been different so maybe they would just not exist, at least not on their current form. All he could do was hope faith would reunite again with their alternate selves. He spent 50 years with them, he should be sad, it should have been the difficult choice of becoming their king there longing into selfish love or returning. Aishi still died so.
Just recently I accidentally remembered Jack and started watching from scratch after 17 years, it was just an unforgettable 4 days. From season 1 to this day I watched season 5. The best animated series of my life. I managed to get upset by the ending and immediately find out that this ending is canon. Happy for Jack and Ashi.
In 2016 most people weren't a fan of these 2 being a couple (myself included) because of the age difference and that they gave off more of a mentor/student vibe. Now in 2020, people changed their opinion on it. It's ironic to me. I personally am happy that he got someone to love.
I wonder what the Scotsman and his daughters, Rothchild, DA Samurai, The Archers, Woolies, The Robots, The Teenagers from season 2 episode 2, Triseraquins, the wild man and the apes, Spartans did after jack finally aku defeat in the past
Judiel Díaz I imagine a rather advanced society where humans robots and aliens co exist peacefully while the magics and spiritualistic parts of the world remain uncorrupted
Not only is this happier, it makes WAY more sense than the ending in the show. If Jack remembers the old timeline, then he must be immune to changes in causality as a side-effect of Aku’s time displacement spell, just like his halted aging. Since Ashi used the same spell on herself, she should be similarly immune to causal changes and thus wouldn’t be erased by Aku’s death in the past.
Kinda felt the og ending was a slap in the face, considering everything Jack went through. The excuse of “well that’s life for you” or “this series is about hardship” don’t really make sense because Jack has already gone through so much turmoil, almost 2 lifetimes of it in fact. Let the man settle down with his significant other and be at peace for the rest of his life man, he definitely deserves that at the very least.
The original ending from the series was very sad especially for Jack. This ending is more touched and satisfying especially that it's canon according to Tartakovsky.
I'm guessing those very coins you collect might be some chrono artifact that can preserve someone from the future, allowing them to exist in the past even when events dictate they shouldn't.
Now why couldn't we just get this ending as normal lol. Enjoyed this one a lot more!

No, we set our goals higher! We aim to get it done and EARN the happy ending! This isn't just Jack's Happy Ending...it's Ours! This was our Battle Through Time...and this is our VICTORY! BEAUTIFUL!
Das deep das deep
I love that kind of Idea. You have my salute
That makes sense.
But I'm not aiming for the s5 ending. I'm gonna go higher. I'M MAKING FANFICS CANON!
HOW'D YA LIKE THAT OBAMA!? ASHI AND JACK ARE TOGETHER, YOU IDIOT!
-Eggman, maybe
Author Bat that is truly deep
The irony is for all the time he spent trying to kill Aku, it's thanks to Aku he found someone more precious to him
Goes to show that even an evil being can create one shining thing of beauty.
@@hagamapama There is light in every darkness, though sometimes you may need to dig quite deep to find it

@@PaKePo I'm on the same page as you pal
Same here I’m so glad that the writers did this.
The scars are healed and life is restored.
After all these years we finally got the ending we wanted ever since it was canceled and ruined
Allow me to explain. By defeating Aku and collecting the 50 coins. The gods decided to reward Jack by using the coins power to time this and that have her exist
I'll take it.
I'll see it as defeating Aku fixed the corrupted magic well and Jack was able to make a wish.
And he had to use the power of the gods to do it.
I agree
I accept this as canon
@@ej081994 That could be the case if this was the only ending but considering she dies in another timeline there should be something else.
Now this is way better than the actual show’s ending.
Well now it's canon
The show's ending was in line with actual samurai stories I think, but Jack deserves this one more.
Pls uninstall Agreed, after all the good he’s done in his 50-year quest.
Lmao they actually made an entire game to retcon the show's ending
nope. its a metaphor. He is alone but the butterfly reminds him of her. thats why she doesnt appear until the butterfly lands on jack.
@Luke Fraczek yeah jack imagining she is there is canon. Thanks for agreeing.
@timothy thao alive in his memory. thanks for agreeing
@Luke Fraczek you can believe whatever helps you sleep at night. its the idea of carrying someone with you. thats why the lady bug is in the scene before she is. He remembers her based off that. Its a nice moment not sure why you have to ruin it with your own desperate needs
@@brettt141
U do know she truly alive and they made this ending cannon
This was the ending we needed back a few years ago. Not a rushed episode ending on a bittersweet note. Our boy Jack got the girl! This is how you end a series.
Finally Jack got a good ending because the first time I watched the series years ago it felt really sad for Jack
But now the alternative ending of season 5 has come true.
@@ryanphelan895 Very! Life has been restored to all us SJ fans... 😎
After seeing this ending, my soul has restored. Im free.
Yeah. After I see this Game ending, somehow I released that samurai jack adventures have finnaly comes to a end.
We had deities giving Jack the means to defeat Aku. Just a temporal shift in the timeline is all that takes to make Jack happy
I don’t care, THIS IS THE CANON ENDING!!!
But happy canon ending
Yep
This is purely cathartic. Seeing Jack have his own happy ending after fighting to take down Aku and live his new life with Ashi is one thing, but the fact that this is the canon ending to the series according to the creators of this game (which means the other ending is simply retconned out of existence) is simply all what fans looked for, and it's just perfect.
This game is canon for this ending, don't care what others say.
Oh it's true!
The creator said it was
Its the ending of THE GAME . Of course its canon
It is
@@infinityheart_tm9270 yes it is
Given that this game is technically cannon, this actually kind comes across as an apology for the way the series ended.
Samurai Jack's ending being very similar to Gurren Lagann's where
(S P O I L E R S)
Nina dies due to her hive race dying the anti-spiral leader being the hive mind and anything connected to it would die.
Wow, wait, this game is considered canon?? :O I think the bittersweet ending makes sense in a way, but I'm all for giving Jack a happy one!
The last episode was brilliant, but i like this final.
Or a retcon of the Season 5 Finale
As rough as the year 2020 has been for myself along with many others, there have been a few moments this year that brought a smile to my face. THIS! THIS is definitely one of them!
This was definitely a highlight for me this year :)

I am so glad for this. And I love this alternate ending. It was officialy canon.

While I appreciate the beautifully tragic original ending, I’m glad the new canon ending is a happier one for both Jack and Ashi.
It took 19 years, but our Samurai finally got the happy ending he deserved. 💙
yes and ashi to s5 was her story i always felt the story was half complete in the original it was her choice to make however i wanted her to have a happy conclusion to they were born opposite light and dark yin and yang but together beat the true master of darkness the only thing left was for them to be together and this ending gives us that

Yes, that ending is perfect.
You’re preaching to the choir, pal.

Now why couldn’t we have that for the animated series ending that would have been a lot better. Now jack go and make some new memories with the woman you love.
Sexy memoirs lol
Jonathon Greinke this is like an agreement with endgame’s perspective on time
Because that wouldn’t have been as memorable
Tbh it would have been better if Jack knew beforehand that Ashi would die THEN fight Aku, helping them realize and decide that they still wanted to defeat Aku even if Ashi would disappear.
Because Jack didn't collect all 50 coins.
-defeats you
-kills your sisters
-unbrainwash you
-kill your source of existance
-marries you
this time he keeps you for realsies.
hella arc for ashi tbh.
At least in this ending, they didn't pull a Gurren Lagann.
Can someone explain, please
@Shane Douglas thank you so much dude, have a nice day
@Shane Douglas You forgot the part where they throw galaxies at each other. It's relevant.
@Shane Douglas there is a plot twist on a game called super robot wars X where Nia is no more eternal and she become pure human thanks to the power of blue water
@Shane Douglas that was not a lie and not only TTGL, several mecha anime with bad plot will be fixed up in that franchise
They almost had us in the first half with that tone shift, not gonna lie
Nice for Jack to get a less bittersweet ending, the people he knew through his journey might not exist anymore, but at least this time Ashi's still there who really knows what he went through
I mean, if he exists, and Ashi exists, that means all that people and that future still exist, just on a different time line.
This is way better than what happened in the series
the voice actor behind jack didn't care tho
the time travelling and warping must have been able to detach ashi from the original fate. making her be able to resist dying and being able to exist now. wow. makes sense.
Personally I was never bothered by Ashi fading away like she did. It made for a bitter sweet ending.
Though, everything that came before it was so rushed.
I feel like this makes up for it though, given this ending is technically CANNON with the Samurai Jack plot.
@@fenrir-art4742 for her to exist this has to be in the future tho, right? i thought the wedding was just a dream he was having.

Glad to see they adopted Endgame's time travel model to at least some of the Samurai Jack universe.
You mean endgame did it from samurai jack
I mean, how else did Aku keep all of time in an iron grip of complete control no matter what Jack did until he finally killed Aku?
After seeing this, some unnamed stress inside of me suddenly relaxed itself. I could feel something change. Like a wrong had been righted, something that weighed on me even though I didn't know it.
In this ending instead of him being sad that Ashi is dead, he's missing all the friends he had made, and Ashi's there to comfort him. Sweet.
And now, the universe is at peace with samurai jack. A proper ending
Jack and Ashi we’re finally married and they live happily ever after the end and now that a real good ending
Finally.. the ending that everyone wanted.
The ending that Jack deserved
Or did he imagine a happy ending because of depression
OMG I have waited 24 years for this ending... My life is complete now. :)
The best part about this ending is that Genndy himself confirmed that it's canon.
I will actually get this game for the ending alone
I want it because it's samurai Jack, the Scotsman and this
It was a marketing strategy they knew we would rage if they give Jack a sad ending as the cannon ending
It can´t be a good ending without The Scotsman
Never sat right with me that the future where we spent the entire series just doesn't exist anymore
@@andrewsever4651 YOU'RE RIGHT
I still don't like the fact that Jack didn't cared that much and just left without saying goodbye to his allies in the game.
The three endings:
Comic version - King Jack end
TV show version - Bittersweet End
Game version - Peaceful Sweet End
This warms my heart so much it's hard to describe

Jack and Ashi
Just recently I accidentally remembered Jack and started watching from scratch after 17 years, it was just an unforgettable 4 days. From season 1 to this day I watched season 5. The best animated series of my life. I managed to get upset by the ending and immediately find out that this ending is canon. Happy for Jack and Ashi.
To me this is the true ending of Samurai Jack. After all what Jack has been through, our hero deserves this more than anything.😊
Soooo collecting the 50 coins will change the fate.
In 2016 most people weren't a fan of these 2 being a couple (myself included) because of the age difference and that they gave off more of a mentor/student vibe.
Now in 2020, people changed their opinion on it. It's ironic to me. I personally am happy that he got someone to love.
"earn your happy ending" at its finest
I really hope this ending is canon cause after all that Jack went through, he really deserves a happy ending.
My inner child just smiled for the first time in years
2:10 Now that's a "Happy Ending" in Series Finale of Samurai Jack show.
Happy Ending for everyone
*cept Aku*
I wonder what the Scotsman and his daughters, Rothchild, DA Samurai, The Archers, Woolies, The Robots, The Teenagers from season 2 episode 2, Triseraquins, the wild man and the apes, Spartans did after jack finally aku defeat in the past
Maybe life normal lives without the tyrany of an evil entity which is named Evil
Judiel Díaz I imagine a rather advanced society where humans robots and aliens co exist peacefully while the magics and spiritualistic parts of the world remain uncorrupted
Greater Grievobeast 55 too bad for him because he’s gone
This should have happened in the last episode!
I have waited for 3 years after Samurai Jack was over.
WOULD AN ENDING LIKE THIS ONE HAVE BEEN TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR IN THE ACTUAL SHOW, GINNDY?!?!
At least Adult Swim brought back the series even if they screwed up the ending but now with the game here it made Adult sins being paid
I know I'm late, but I'm very happy to know that they gave my boy a happy ending
This is beautiful. Jack finally gets his happy ending
I'm not crying you are! 😭 the series ending broke me inside worse then most recent deaths in gaming
The ending we truly needed.
*Ashi dies*
Jack: 😭
Thanos: “i like you...you have sacrificed enough”
* Uses time stone*
So this is what it feels like to have a years-old scar heal over.
In time all will heal!
Seeing this I can finally close the chapter with a smile on my face for the whole series. Even it was a game ending.
Ok. This is the official canon ending. Don’t try to change my mind, you can’t.
It's been confirmed by the show's creators that it is in fact the official cannon ending.
The original ending from the series was very sad especially for Jack. This ending is more touched and satisfying especially that it's canon according to Tartakovsky.
I’m so glad they reconnected the old ending
I wish they'd reedited the last episode with this ending too
I'm guessing those very coins you collect might be some chrono artifact that can preserve someone from the future, allowing them to exist in the past even when events dictate they shouldn't.
When I watched this ending in the show I felt a black hole swallow my heart but seeing this just brought light to my 2020
Me playing the game: Man, these stupid coins. There'd better be a reason for them.
Me at this ending: WORTH IT.
The best part is that THIS ENDING IS ACTUALLY CANON
I just rewatched the whole series in like a few days and really needed this. Making this the cannon ending makes me a happy sunvabitch
JACKIE BOY YOU DID IT!! YOU DIDN'T GET THE GURREN LAGANNISH ENDING THIS TIME!!
I can only just hear this comment in the Scotsman’s voice
Think Genndy realized he might have a lawsuit on his hands if he didn;t change the ending.
