- In this 2018 Sci-fi horror movie, the first dialogue is not spoken until 38 minutes into the film. The post-apocalyptic movie surrounds the invasion of noise-sensitive monsters forcing humans to communicate in sign language. Even during production, crew members were discouraged to make any sound so whatever little noise was incorporated in the film’s plot, would come across more amplified and crisp. In initial screenings when it was released, audience members admitted to being uncomfortable. But despite the unique viewing experience, the film banked $340 million worldwide.

Imagine seeing this in theaters and having your phone go off
you turn your phone on silent??
Imagine forgetting to turn your phone down before you see a movie 😅😅😅
Movie name
I wasn't even dare to breath out loud in the theatre. So intense
My wife and I had brought twizzlers but realized we couldn't eat them without making a ton of noise lol
Half an hour in and someone who still has popcorn finally takes that first, crunchy bite and everyone turns around and looks at them in horror.
I saw this movie in one of those theaters that serves food. Big mistake. Because the movie was quieter than a regular movie I could hear people smacking and munching around me (sounds that already irritate me). 😂
@@ashleyjones9928You got misophonia, because I do
The actor that plays the deaf girl is deaf irl during filming she taught the other actors sign language
John did a great job as well as the crew and cast. Keeping the set as quiet as possible, using an actress that actually knows sign. Tell me more tell me more tell me more.
As someone that has two deaf members of my family , that fact was one of the best parts of the movie for me . It's one of the reasons I went to see it , BTW she is a phenomenal actor .
John Krasinski said in an interview that he was talking with the deaf girl’s parents and they said that she can hear sound, it is just extremely muffled and low volume. When John heard this, he tried to make the scenes in the movie mirror that same experience. He said that the first time the parents of the deaf girl saw the movie, they cried because for the first time in their lives, they could feel and understand how the world feels for their daughter.

I’m not a fan of horror or thriller films but it was an amazing experience to go see this
Is it free on anything?
@@TacitusKilgore12 you can watch a recap of it

Finally, movie that i can watch with mom and dad
u can watch the movie
You know movies good when it scares you with its silence
The silence was one of the best characters in the movie
I didnt liked him. He talks too much imo
@@gabilecrack8231 but he was agood actor tho
I swear to god I watch it with my cousin and his friend. We were in complete silent for the next hour after watching the movie.
yk i watched the second movie and was opening a bag of doritos i sneaked in,and i wanted to open it and yk how hard that was,15 mins of sturuggle to be quiey
Easy. Bring sewing scissors with you.

When my mom went to see this movie at the theater, everyone was almost completely quiet, like they were scared to eat their popcorn. And when the credits came, people were scared to even move or make a sound
I remember when I first saw this afterward I realized how much noise I make just moving around and going through my everyday life 😬😬
I was watching this with my dad, then he farted.
My soul went to Jupiter....
Nice one
LMFAO
I watched this in theater, literally could hear sounds leaked from the other theater lol
An excellent movie. Waiting to see "A Quiet Place Day 1"
That was my favorite thing about A quiet place, the quiet. I'm a quiet person so this is a comfort to me
Much better than bird box.
Technically, sign language is a spoken language.
That was nice to know
It was really difficult to eat popcorn in the cinemas when this movie was on
Staying quiet is not a joke Jim. Milions of families suffer every year.
Can attest to the uncomfortable feeling. I remember people refusing to eat their popcorn because the bag was crunching too loudly and they didn’t want to be a nuissance 😂
I wonder how heavily they relied on Foley artists- the sound guys who use random items to make sounds for movies from background noise to items being interacged with or jsut odd noises to create a feeling. Or if the silence allowed the sounds to be caught during the act. Like stepping on sand or leaves??
John Krasinski and his wife Emily Blunt are so good actor and writter for my personnel opinion
remembering when i watched this at a sleepover and thought smth was wrong with my laptop until i finally found out ppl don’t talk till later in the movie smh lmao
Excellent movie
Damn after the shoot,
The 1st Ad was awarded for not saying a word.
I love it when they were saying 👍👏🙏✊🤜🤛👊🤝🤚🤲👐🖖🤟🤘👈👆👇🖕 then the dad's like
*AH,AH AH,AH AH.....HOOKED ON A FEE-* and then he got munched on.
I'm so glad I watched it in the cinemas alone haha
This movie in my point of view is a masterpiece…. John did a good job directing this movie and part two as well.
I went to the movie with my dad when it came out and it was dead silent only me eating popcorn💀
vegan teacher in the movie theater: HEY STOP TALKING
Me: 💀
this joke: 💀
One of my favourite sci-fi thrillers
The scriptwriter really good
i'm not finish it because i feel very uncomfortable just for watching it, but it's great concept afterall
This is literally bird box
I wish I had seen this in theaters. I missed out
ASL is used throughout the film.
ASL is a form of speech.
It was REALLY uncomfortable. The silence was deafening. It was painful.
I'm not into horror films anyway and the first time I watched this was on TV.
I think I made it like ⅔? And then when the next commercial break came I just couldn't continue.
It freaked me out too much, it was like constricting the chest almost.
But I admire the atmosphere of it.
I always thought it must be so cool watching this in the cinema with the Dolby Surround and the deafening silence amplified by the sounds of breathing of the other people, but so many in these comments said people where eating popcorn, etc., that would completely kill the vibe for me.
But yeah, a good score and the leaving out of music can create such an atmosphere for a movie!
In Everything, Everywhere, All at once with the rock scene the entire cinema was so quiet, you could hear people breathing it was such an intense experience.
Uh uh I had a dream ab this movie lately and there was like, a bell in this town that would go off at dawn and each time it would ring,it means leave town, get to your house or hide bc it means THEYRE, (the monstaz) Comin so this one time I went outside with my sister and (this house is in the woods) she’s on the phone and she goes into the woods bc she wanted to talk alone, so on my way out of there, I saw a bear. Only a baby one though, but it started attacking me and I held its jaw and tried to break it and failed I punched it AND SLAPPED IT😅 Then I ran inside and then I looked out the window and the bear was pink with no fur and blood on it 💀💀 anyway then I hear the bells ringing, AND MY SISTR IS STILL OUT THERE BUT THERES A BEAR RIGHT THERE. (I actually had more to the dream before this, but I woke up in the middle of the dream and went to sleep to experience more of it lol (one of the weirdest dreams ever//
It was such a great movie experience as well. I just find myself watching it quietly and getting scared of every little sound i heard inside the theater haha
When my family & I went to see the sequel, a few people were chatting in the back, when this series is QUIET!
I was so baked trying to eat my snacks 😂
My brother would skip it out of boredom
they werent forced to use ASL the daughter was already deaf and they knew it...
Every time I see that little boy I cry a little in the inside.
I was covering my mouth with my hands to stop myself from making any noise 😒
It was alright they lost me when the dad died
I made the foolish decision to watch this in theaters with my friend who loved to talk during movies
What probably happened, when you got hired for the crew:
Director (whispering): Hey, so we figured autonomous robots were cheaper to build than CGI, so you should stay as silent as possible
crew member: Very funny, would you please stop whispering.
Director (Whispering): RUN!
I really liked that movie when I first watched it, my only complaint about it is that it ended on a cliffhanger.
Well it has a sequel.
Uncomfortable?..
-that's the point.
Because tony learn from his mistakes
My dad went full Karen on some noisy kids when we watched the sequel
Dude went from cracking jokes in an office to if he laughed... bye bye
Then you have the second one where they non stop talk
*Warden vibes*
Is it bad that I find the idea of someone coughing really loudly in the silence and terrifying people hilarious?
Deaf people: I don't see what the big deal is
There’s literally a deaf girl in the movie 😅
Baby cries out loud movie got no sound
Of course I knew because I watched the movie
Im a be honest. I wanted to enjoy this film but last time i tried to watch it my family wouldn't shut the fuck up.
A Quiet Place is one of my favorite movies of the 2010s. The experience when seeing this film for the first time was so magical. It’s not every day you witness a movie silence an audience with no sound for the entire movie.
All those desperate housewives wouldn’t make it five minutes in this world.
Doesn’t the voice of this narrator also do scp readings?
Amazing movie 👌🏻
The one film that I always get asleep when watch it
The new episode of the office looks good
Aliens, not monsters.
Best horror movie. The feeling of the uncomfortable silence makes it better
Fr
remember watching this gem of a movie the first time. after it ended i actually tried to breath silently and dont make a noise. thats how far it has me pulled into it.
At the beginning of the movie in the pharmacy you can just barely hear the father whisper under his breath "go find your mother" to the smallest child.
I watched this last night and when the little boy died I was gonna cry but then I was kinda annoyed like WHY WAS HE IN THE BACK AND NOT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE THEN HE WOULDN'T DIE!!!!!
I remembered watching the 3rd episode of Game of Thrones Season 8. Gosh Arya sneakily getting out of the zombie-filled chamber and I couldn't even breathe.
Heck I remembered watching clips of AQP in school during free time. While everyone was loud I was not making a noise in my seat. 😅
As a person that didn’t see the movie does that kid die? Answer me DOES HE DIE?! :(
(Spoiler alert. Just in case)
I couldn't enjoy the movie because just how unlikely a group of monsters like this would be able to bring humanity so close to the brink. Especially since almost every military has weapons that exploits their biggest weakness. Sound weapons that produce high pitch noise. And it really wouldn't take that long to find out either..
Ah yes another movie were the military is nerft
They also got profit from the corn field when nearing the end of the movie the monster cased in the corn field planted every corn of it and sold it called profit
imagine someone makes an animated version of quiet place.
voice acting would be so ez😂😂
"the crew was discouraged to make any noise"
Isn't that pretty much standard? Don't remember a whole lot of background chat in any movie that I have seen.
Annoying
I felt bad for the kid cause he is a kid he has very little joys in a silent world...but u still have a hard time believing they survived with that many kids especially when they had a baby I left...unless they crushed that babies voice box they should all have died the second he was born...also..why have sex during an apocalypse where sound gets you killed ....this movie had way to many holes in it for it to be good.
Rip bowe😢😢
I remember the film was so silent we were clearly able to hear the sound from the next screen.
Am i the only one who got bored watching this?? Not saying it's bad. I just got bored halfway through cuz of the silence
Loved the signing in that movie. I'm learning myself and it really helped make Signing more like a real conversation than simple communication.
It is 2023 and, At the age of 45 years old "lactose tolerant jobs" become mandatory....
This was movie where the world was virtually ran by idiots and most of the population had an IQ less than a teenager in horror flicks.
reading the comments just prove how sheeple everybody is and will only say the same thing as the masse... if thats what you call horror movie or a thriller or a masterpiece there is no point in discussing movies.
When I went to the movies for the third quiet Place it was crazy because everybody try to be as quiet as possible yet everyone was still too loud
One of the worst horror films ever made, perfect example of putting the concept over logic.
The way they walk when the boy gets killed is wrong, the two children should have walked between the two adults so somethings like that doesn't happen
In an alien invasion where they cant see, arnt bullet proof and got hurt by loud sounds, i can confirm this was a dumb movie
A lot of the screens in both the first and second movies were shot in WNY. All around Buffalo.
The first dialogue spoken I the boy at 30 mins in when he says "Please don't make me go."
Very stupid plot. The military would have figured out that sound would have hurt the aliens.
Not despite, because of. Let’s not get all Hollywood producer and pretend original ideas are bad.
Isn't the idea of a horror movie to make it's audience feel uncomfortable to make it's scares more impactful.
Yes this movie is not have much dialogue.
