the cut to the silence as we see the deaf daughter’s perspective is BRILLIANT. imagine being surrounded by chaos and not being able to hear a thing
From what John said, when the actress’s mother first saw that part, she broke down and started crying. Being that she finally got to experience the world the way her daughter does every second of every day.
Yes . That silence brings me some breathing.

The degree of realism in this opening scene is mind boggling.
The only part that bothers me is the meteor. Should have made the sky much brighter , also weird how throughout the scene they never feel the impact/shockwave.
The dog tried to warn them like "hey guys it really smells like aliens, we should get out of here" but nobody listened
We’re simple minded we cannot understand the big brain species like dogs.
I'm gonna call them as local boys. Their design is completely subterranean. Like bats but on crack. Only way they were making it here if they were aliens is if someone else sent them here.
No where to run to.
Not smell, sounds
@@XTheCrystalBeastGuyX I saw a theory that on their home world they were completely subterranean and lived in cave systems. They theorized that their home world got blown apart by a world ending meteor and big chuncks of the planet got sent flying into space with them still in cave systems thats how they got here. Inside of pieces of the planet that came crashing down onto our planet.

I love the way the opening plays on the fact that nobody knew they were attracted to sound. It ramps the tension up so much for the audience
This was part 2; they knew it was sound which was why the main actor clamped his hand over the man's mouth who was praying
@leestockton9367 I think it was more reflective of the dad's survival instinct. Surviving any initial crisis is mainly staying silent and hiding, which is what the dad did and tried to get others to be quiet as well. I don't think anyone realized the things hunted by sound at that point.
@@leestockton9367 This scene is showing Day 1 of the apocalypse. Literally nobody knew what was going on here
@@leestockton9367 Wrong. It was just common sense. This happened before the events of Part One but sure, go tell everyone what happened even though you haven't seen it.
A lot of the acting and reacting in this opening feels very natural, like how you'd expect people to respond. Particularly the mixture of people leaving as soon as they see the meteor and those standing and watching. And how the mum is always reassuring her children even in the chaos. I doubt any one could pull the "horror movie logic" card for this scene.

Agree.
The cinematography of this scene is my absolute favorite of any movie I’ve ever watched. I love how it’s silent when the camera is following Regan until her dad touches her shoulder, and all of the sound comes rushing back in. Gives me chills every time.
I like how the movie opens up like the first movie. In the same town with the same convenience store. That is a continuity trick and it works perfectly. You even have some foreshadow to the events in the story.
Its not a trick. It's following the story line.
I also like how they set up elements that have a payoff later. Like Emmet asking Raegan how to sign dive here, then using that later to save their lives at the docks. Also the slow build of tension with dogs going crazy here as they can sense something is wrong and the radios going wonky before all hell breaks loose.
It even shows the Space Shuttle toy that got Beau killed.
Everybody’s acting was phenomenal in both movies, when Evelyn had to give birth and when Marcus got his foot stuck in the bear trap, Emily Blunt and Noah Jupe In those moments was absolutely stunning and to be able to show that much pain and emotion just is speechless. John Krasinski as well not only to be in the film but also co produce, write, and direct it I was completely blown away by everyone’s work on the film and can’t wait for the next installment (if they make one)
One problem with the accuracy of the pain of the bear trap, you wouldnt feel it for a bit, you would definitely see it but would not feel the pain, this is because of the nerve damage and nerve loss in your leg, the less nerves you have, the less pain you will feel, in this case, because of the clamping of the bear trap, it kills all nerves near the teeth and loses the nerves from the ankle down
It was still a great movie, just that one part wasnt very accurate
Yes also Noah Jupe is an incredible actor

The reception to this scene was probably the whole reason they decided to make "A Quiet Place, Day One"
They really should do a prequel involving the first days of this happening as well as humanity's war against them.
That's what I thought. Prequels are actually pretty good if those producers know how to make good use of them. Movies like lets say WWZ. They can make prequels detailing the start of the first outbreak how it exactly happen, how the government dealt with it. They can even make like spin-off like lets say how Israel build the wall, fortified the city, how they deal with the zombies after they breach into the city. They can make one detailing how Philadelphia, or even in Korea how the base got attacked first and the aftermath and so on. So yeah I personally think they should make a prequel about this too.
My understanding is that it wasn’t a war so much as it was a massacre.
As long as they can make it good and not seem like a cash grab, I’m all for it
@@michaelfitzgerald38 Noooo 😭

It's pretty convenient that the aliens muscles didn't atrophy on their millennia long journey through space on a slow moving asteroid. Did the aliens build ships to cross the ocean so they could kill loud people in Europe? Were the alien ships quiet? Or did the the aliens attack their own ships cause of the constant creaking? I haven't seen his movie so hopefully it answers all these loose ends!
@@woadblue it doesn’t, this segment is pretty much the entirety of the flashback in this movie. I think it’s pretty much accepted though the alien muscles and skin (being strong enough to break through steel and pretty much anything) is strong enough to survive that journey. That asteroid or whatever it was might’ve just been a large egg or something that carried tons of them. As far as their own sound, I think they can distinguish sounds snd are likely to listen past or avoid certain sounds. All assumptions of course but I think part of the story is also giving into the factors they throw in
Yes..yes, when I think of aliens attacking I think of beautiful too.
I love the implication that Lee (the dad) is a possible officer/EMS/firefighter. A little bit of expositionless plot to explain the family's ingenuity in the first film. 👍🏾 Absolutely loved these! My only regret is not getting the chance to see the first one in theaters.
I think he’s occupation is a mechanic.
EMS is probably more likely because in the first movie he was trying to make a hearing aid for his daughter. He would have to have an extensive knowledge of medicine and health to know how to make something like that, plus him knowing what to do in an emergency crisis would be helpful in their new kind of living.

I love the transition from chaos to the silence as they’re hiding in the building.. but wouldn’t there still be way too much noise and chaos outside for the creature to slowly start hunting potential whispering sounds in a closed building?
You’d think that phase only starts when all the screaming, radios, car sounds and animal sounds in the town have been taken care of. Despite the quickness and lethality of the creatures I’d say that would still take them way over 30 minutes to do before all loud distractions in the area are eliminated.
And except for those hiding for dear life (trying not to make a sound or be spotted), it would take more than just minutes for people to figure out that sound is the issue.

Interesting how radio signals became jammed, and dogs reacted and barked at what must have been a high pitched sound that only they could hear. Plus the “meteorite”, or whatever it was, had a very slow descent through our atmosphere. It almost appeared as if it was controlled. @@josiahsuarez5415 Yes, I’m aware of the “official” explanation given to their origin, but still find parts of it odd. There are still a lot of unanswered questions regarding these alien invaders. Jamming and disrupting radio signals for one. What was doing this before the meteorite even crashed to earth? Dogs barking too, why? These are just a couple.
@@glennlevick2971 The radio signal disruption could simply be interpreted as satellite interference, there are over 4000 satellites around the globe and we know multiple of these meteors landed around the globe. They could’ve easily destroyed them as they entered our atmosphere causing this disruption and the dog barking is simply they have more acute senses then we do. Animals usually react to disaster far faster than humans do because of their superior senses, it would make sense that a dog would bark alerting others in its vicinity of the danger and they also can bark at threats which the meteorite is clearly one.
