Also black bars were added in post for that Cinematic look. It does NOT come out of the camera that way and a 2:1 aspect ratio was added to be optimized for modern smartphones.
This is by far the best looking smartphone video i have yet seen. Ofc stabilisation wise or in crispness there are some that do a bit better, but overall the depth of the shots and how it all looks unartificial(no huge software tweaking) makes it so much better. It looks like a bigger sensor DSLR video basically. Im guessing the lens on it is just perfect for this sensor. I would shoot a music video with this in a heartbeat! edit: in conclusion, the contrast and HDR are exactly the correct level.

This is not new, LG pioneered wide angle on smartphones and have always had excellent audio and manual settings. People forget Samsung and Apple did a lot of stealing of ideas and LG never gets the recognition it deserves.
For a first gen device shooting 8k, this is quiet impressive. I'd love to see more images and 4k video quality. Especially in high dynamic range situations.
Lg V series has had amazing video quality since the v30. It surely surpasses samsung and iphone on the video department. It's sad how underrated this flagship is as it's a real competitor between Samsung and Iphone. Really impressed with the video, looks outstanding. Makes me wanna get the phone.
The footage has extreme digital-artifacting. I'm glad your S10 can't do that! If it could, that'd be terrible! Just look at all the darn trees! It's so freaky-looking. Just look at 04:06
@@Samosayummyyay sure it has a few issues here and there but this is miles better than Samsung's jittery mess of 8k(handheld) on the S20. If you've gone into Best Buy or wherever and tested you know I'm telling the truth. There's a reason why the S20's have been out much longer than the V60 and Danny hasn't done a handheld 8k video with them yet.
For this to be 8K footage handheld I gotta say I'm very impressed. This footage looks so good and unless you had said anything I would not have thought it came from a phone. Missed the fireworks this time. I can breathe a huge sigh of relief now man as this is my next phone. I'm curious as to how much storage these clips are up even though I'll probably be shooting in 4k 95% of the time. Man this got me pumped now. Edit: just read the description. Yes I want to see all the coverage you have of the V60 too including the stuff about the color conversion cause I may need it for future videos.
I think 8k is a bit of a gimmick unless you plan to zoom in on post, however this video does look stunning and the natural bokeh looks pretty good too.

Would be great to see a comparison of the V60 to the V50, V40 and maybe even the V30. RUclips is saturated full of comparison videos with the IPhone 11, Samsung S20 etc. But i'm sure there are consumers out there like me who want to see how these newer phones stack up not just against each other but to the phones they will be replacing. Then we can see if it's really worth the upgrade or not.

He says in the beginning of the video itself that this is color corrected. This isn't straight out of the camera footage that you are comparing it with the S20 Ultra.

No joke. If you used an ND filter to get motion blur this could easily be mistaken for a professional cinema camera. I'm blown away how consistent it was and it didn't have an oversharpened look.
Yeah man. Manual Mode is supported in 8K also! Just didn’t have an ND and wanted to represent a true user. I hate how work has to be done in post processing but it is what it is.

It's amazing and fantastic picture quality. The picture quality is blurred between 3 minutes 49 seconds and 4 minutes 1 second, is it a shooting mistake?
You always make the best videos! The quality is quite good though the colours seem to lack vibrancy and seems a bit deadpan. Glad to see so many people out enjoying themselves and not panicking over the Zombie virus. 😉
Wonderful video! The V60 seems to do a good job in stabilization while walking or panning. However, it seems to struggle in stabilization when handheld while videoing the same subject on the same spot. Can tell that its quite jittery!
Does the V60 ThinQ shoot 4K/1080p at 60fps WITH HDR10+ on? I'm sorry to bother you with this question, but I simply can't find an answer ANYWHERE on the Internet. I'm more excited for that than 8K to be completely honest, because then my slow motion footage no longer needs to be compromised. It should go without saying, but your video is absolutely fantastic! Wouldn't be half as good without your cinematography:)
I see you like to test these cameras, but while everyone bragging about the new periscope 100X zoom in galaxy ultra , literally an year back Huawei had released their P30 pro with the same camera technology and NO ONE EVER comparing it with galaxy S20 ultra. I hope you do this comparison soon.
Does this camera shoot in LG Cine Log? I think that may have been easier to grade than HDR10+ as it's still in Rec.709 and will give you the wider dynamic range. Also, does this camera allow adjusting the shutter speed in video? I think that could make a huge difference to the look of the footage than any resolution or HDR mode.
It has good stabilizing feature and very natural colors, that's the way it should be capture an occasion as it happened and how it looked (real colors) without over-saturation.
Did you do any noise reduction for the video? Watching on phone so it looks pretty good at 1440 but my s20 don't look that good at 8k in that much of darkness. Thanks.
Camera comparison is coming Tomm. Not to spoil it but yes the LG video doesn’t have the same noise problem. Not sure why. To answer your question no noise reduction but the exposure control and adjustments crushed the noise right out.

I apologize as this is off-topic from the video content but, I cannot seem to find what type of DAC the V60 has. None of the reviewers mention this. The general specs mention 32 bit quad dac. But some spec sheets I found online mention it's using the Qualcomm Hifi DAC (although not bad) which isn't the best. If so, using the Qualcomm DAC would be a huge letdown from the SABRE DAC LG has previously used. Danny, it seems like you've been using this device for a while. Do you know what DAC it has? Excellent video showing the 8K recording abilities.
How good are frame grabs from the 8k video? Eventually with sufficient bitrate 8k video will supplant point and shoot pictures. you just snap a 5 or 10 second video and grab the nicest frame from that. if the bitrate is high enough its a 30mp image!

Camera comparison is coming Tomm. Not to spoil it but yes the LG video doesn’t have the same noise problem. Not sure why. To answer your question no noise reduction but the exposure control and adjustments crushed the noise right out.

S20 8k: 1.2x zoomed. second grade lenses. 18-24fps. F2.0.

I apologize as this is off-topic from the video content but, I cannot seem to find what type of DAC the V60 has. None of the reviewers mention this. The general specs mention 32 bit quad dac. But some spec sheets I found online mention it's using the Qualcomm Hifi DAC (although not bad) which isn't the best. If so, using the Qualcomm DAC would be a huge letdown from the SABRE DAC LG has previously used.

How good are frame grabs from the 8k video? Eventually with sufficient bitrate 8k video will supplant point and shoot pictures. you just snap a 5 or 10 second video and grab the nicest frame from that. if the bitrate is high enough its a 30mp image!
