287 USD for a one-way red-eye flight! You could have flown with a regular airline at that price! Zipair maybe cheap for Japanese customers but it's still a lot more expensive than its counterparts like AirAsia, Tigerair, or Lion Air in SE Asia.
Great flight, hope this airline can survive because there's trends where LCC Long Haul have greater risk to collapse rather than Regular Long Haul Carrier.
I believe its still rainy season in thailand so that might be the reason behind the lack of passengers. I went on peach out of osaka in june and the plane was full. The weak yen doesn't help though. I imagine those zip honolulu flights have even fewer passengers
i LOVE this airline! I have taken Zipair twice already, once in dec 22 and once in mar 23 from singapore to tokyo. I enjoyed the food on board and the wifi was decent too (i could not connect to the wi-fi during the dec 22 flight). I like the seat pitch as it is longer than on scoot and airasia. they provide the powerpoints for free while scoot charges for the powerpoint. I was able to get some decent sleep on both flights to tokyo (the people around me were not tall or fat people thankfully). In fact, i like this airline so much i will be taking it again in march 2024 to see the cherry blossoms again. I booked the march 24 flights the day the tickets were released😊
@@igobyplane all the flights including last week's flight to and from tokyo were all full. and yes we are not allowed to change seats but seems all the passengers (at least those around me) had no issues with this. The armrests in between the seats do come up. I doubt you will have any chance of an entire empty row as the flights i took were always full (i confirmed it with the airport staff who checked me in for my flights)
I used to love flying Oasis that flew from London to Hong Kong, my husband and myself booked 10 days in Hong Kong for less than a £1000, a bargain we also had upgrades to our room in the hotel and eat breakfast on the premier floor, much quieter then the main restaurant, I really miss HK but planning to go in 2025,
Good to hear: HK is it's own game and has been for 200 years. It's on my bucket list along with Taiwan. My son speaks/writes Japaneses and Mandarin so we'll go together.
I'm 6'5 and flew from Singapore to Tokyo and back earlier this year. The regular seats were fine, however exit row seats were cramped and feels like crap. The position of the reading light switch on the exit row seat is terrible, and you'll bump into it quite regularly. Also couldn't change seats even with 3/4 of the flight empty.
Just curious, what will happen if you sit on a different seat? I mean, for an almost empty flight in the video, most of the other airlines won't make a fuss if you change from an aisle seat to a window seat on the same row, or even sleep on 3 seats in 1 empty row. Of course, it will be troublesome if you order F&B on board.
by the way, you mentioned there was a promotion after you booked. where to see zipair promotions as i cannot find anything from their website or facebook page.
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience, i will take the exact same flight as you soon, considering the empty seats, it will be useless to upgrade my seat for extra legs confort, as long i can lay down on all the three seats in eco ? Thanks
How do you afford all of these journeys? I would have been bankrupt 80 times by now. I love the content and how much you put into it, keep up the amazing work! Sounds like a bot comment but I swear its not
as well as the view revenue, remember that Solo can claim everything as a business expense if he's set the channel up as a company in Japan, making it much more affordable to do. Japan has tax laws that *really* reward small-to-medium sized businesses
@@areareare9953 If you can make it work from Japan then it's a great idea. PermRes visas are surprisingly easy to get for the self employed, and life in Japan is pretty sweet outside of the main cities.

Sunflower Sunflower, it had to be said We expect that to be your theme song Solo. You can't hear it on a Zip flight from Bangkok to Narita. Please, more Sunflower Sunflower. We just can't get enough Tom Crosby YQR Regina Canada.
The least ZIPAIR could do is send you curry packets, to curry your favor in the future. As a matter of fact, I am baffled that you are not yet sponsored by a curry company. And that plane dropped on the runway like dice on a craps table. Dang that was hard.
They're only saying you can't switch seats due to passenger weight distribution for take off and landing - during cruise it won't make a difference, and I'm sure nobody would care if you moved. In fact I'd be laying across all those seats once they dimmed the lights.
Nope. Most of the LCC around the world - and especially the ones in Asia-Pacific- get *reeeeally* shouty if you start switching seats at ANY point because they do charge for EVERY seat. On a flight that empty weight wouldn't be a factor.
Well, that's just mean-spirited. The ones in Europe where I've asked to do it have been fine, as long as I'm in the assigned seat for take-off. They just amended the passenger manifest once I moved, I guess to help identify the bodies in case we crashed on landing. I never tried it on Ryanair though. I can imagine them allowing it but charging for it. I wouldn't be surprised if /they/ started surcharging for oxygen breathed during the flight.
That looked like an awful airline. I would rather pay more for a better experience. 17x31 seat size is not conducive for long haul flying, in fact, it could be medically dangerous to some people.
ZIP Air probably will not survive. Once people get smarter and realize the price from the US is not much cheaper if you factor in luggage and food, people aren't likely to fly with ZIP Air. I do hope they survive. It also doesn't help when the company logo represents Russia military.
