I don't like that method, I like to cut with a Stanley knife on the back. If gap between grippers and board are done right it's easy to bend back to the gripper edge then cut along other side of gripper to give just under 1cm to tuck in. I started doing that after watching one of your videos and done 2 rooms perfectly this week.

I would avoid this way mate , your more likely to scratch the skirtings like the fella did at the start of the video ( you can see the scratch marks ) use a straight blade on hessian backed carpet . Save your hooks for safety flooring or stick down carpet 👌
Nice gauge in skirting mate, hook blades should only be used for safety flooring.
