Here is a Stat that should have been discussed more.. Alabama’s opponents combined record was 85-59 compared to FSU’s 67-76. That is a huge difference in level of competition. And I can see why FSU was able to go undefeated when Average Record of teams FSU Played was 5.5 Wins and 6.5 losses..
SOS was discussed. But FSU scheduled and played and BEAT TWO SEC teams OOC, LSU (who was ranked #5 at the time) and in state rival Florida. So ironically, the scheduling of 2 SEC teams who UNDERperformed hurt FSUs SOS.
Here’s a stat that kinda blows that combined opponents schedule out the window. FSU played (and destroyed) a 3-8 North Alabama team this year. Alabama played (and destroyed) a 8-4 Chattanooga team this year. North Alabama beat Chattanooga this year. Point is, those insignificant games factor into that whole “opponents schedule”.
Well that's basically what it is. It's an exhibition game nothing more. I hope our players that have NFL draft potential go ahead and move on and go make that money. They did all they could do to play for a national championship and flat out got screwed.
That "Temper tantrum" kept ESPN and the SEC from ramming an expanded playoff format down everyone elses throat. Florida State got screwed because the playoff is expanding next year, so ESPN is counting on everyone moving on.

The media has already tricked ppl into debating between FSU/BAMA, when the real debate should’ve been between the 1 loss teams TEXAS/BAMA and we all know who simply won the head to head. They completely robbed fsu of what was suppose to be a guaranteed playoff bid being a power 5 undefeated team. And some may say but are they the “best” that is completely subjective and is only suppose to be used when teams have same record !!!
Teams have control over their schedules. But when it comes to the Conference Championship, they have no control who they play, especially if you have divisions within your conference. Iowa won the West Division of the BIG10 Conference, which MAY have been the 4th or 5th best in the BIG10. So I believe in the Strength of Schedule until in comes to the Conference Championship, because now anyone in the CCG will have a better SOS after the game than during the regular season. Stop looking at SOS after the CCG's (and the Heisman too).
FSU and SMU cases are easy to understand. A tough schedule or perfect season are not their main criterions. Both teams’ starting QB are injured. This will make the both team less competitive. The committee assumes the teams with the original starting QB all season long would have more consistent performance. FSU and SMU struggled to win their titles with the backup QB. If both team won by 20 or more scores, things might be slightly different.

Best teams is subjective and means nothing. Georgia and Oregon both were favorite, both lost. Eagles won the Super Bowl with their backup qb vs Patriots in 2017. This is football, not a beauty pageant. The integrity of CFB has ruined forever. You win championships to earn respect. No one is respecting Bama if they win.
SMU'S Schedule was almost identical in difficult to Liberty's in terms of difficulty - except for two games. SMU lost those two games. A tougher schedule only matters if you win the games, otherwise you prove that you can lose well.
So far, Keon, Benson, Bell, and J Wilson have said their thank yous on social media - they likely aren’t playing in the Orange Bowl. They all came here / back to compete for a National Championship - which was taken from them by ESPN leadership and their “partnership” with the SEC. Partly because RD, Kirk, and most of the entire crew advocated, politicked, and lobbied for this outcome for weeks. Our boys earned the right to compete for the natty. Ironic that these guys can sit up at the desk each week and talk about this sport that they love, the players, the stories, all of the things that make football great and then be such an accessory to the robbery that took place from a team with ZERO loses. The mental gymnastics have been impressive in an effort to justify what occurred and as I heard on a different podcast … when the story doesn’t match and is inconsistent, it’s not your story. You all should be ashamed of yourselves.
Boo Corrigan got on TV and said Liberty got the NY6 spot over SMU because they kept winning, a few hours after he said a team that won all their games didn't deserve to be in. Absolute lunacy and zero consistency. Most people had stopped watching the show at that point, but when I heard him say that, I felt even angrier about the whole situation. You say Alabama got in because they were better and had a harder schedule. SMU is better and had a much harder schedule than Liberty, but then the committee changed it's position completely.
Last year TCU lost their conference championship game and weren’t punished for it. Alabama was left at 5. This year, Georgia loses their conference championship game as number 1 and drops 5 spots. There’s not SEC bias, it’s just that these people make it up as they go and tick everyone off.
2 points about the CFP long term: they might want to work on a less biased selection process, if that's possible also, they might want to seriously consider changing the playoffs so all the games up to the semis are played at the home venues of the higher ranked teams. fans might complain "oh, college football is turning into the NFL now, i hate it!" but if fans say college football is special because of the regular season. well, giving the top 2 ranked teams home field advantage throughout the playoffs will make the regular season more important than it's ever been. home field advantage in college football is a much bigger deal than in the NFL because in college, the players are mostly 18-23 years old. at that age it has been shown they are prone to being intimidated playing in another team's home venue. in the NFL we're talking about grown, GROWN up men who can handle the pressure of playing on the road. unfortunately that will mean the bowls will no longer host playoffs games starting in the 2026 season. the top 12 teams will be rewarded with playoff games, while the rest of the ranked & unranked teams will have the opportunity to play in the bowls.
The elephant in the room that’s not Alabama. Remember, the ACC, PAC 12 & BIG 10 formed an alliance that blocked the 12 team playoff from forming for another year. It would have been a 12 team playoff this year.
I love Reece Davis and the College Football Podcast !! i been watching since i was little. Just hearing this man talk has made me have grace with others.
ESPN's $3 BILLION deal with the average SEC has tainted the integrity of college football. Kirk, Joey, Greg and Rece have become another Finebaum. Bias irrelevant.
You have essentially told teams that wins don’t matter. When these teams start doing “load management”, because you punished a team because a team player was injured, don’t be surprised. You people are so shortsighted.
These decisions make it were other conferences besides SEC get the attention and notoriety to attract better top prospects. This would push me away from ACC programs fearing the exclusion from the CFP.
Not that it’s much of a difference, but it’s actually the #12 team that’s left out, because the highest ranked G5 team is in at the 12th team in the bracket.
New concept for College Football Playoff: There should be only 4 conferences, With that you can create a 12 team playoff with 4 teams having a bye. Also grabbing the best 3 teams from each conference. Do yall think this is a good idea?
Going to 12 teams will dilute and kill the importance of big game match-ups in the regular season (see college basketball). I don't get the rationale to go from 4 to 12. There are NEVER more than 6 to 8 teams that are LEGITIMATE NC contenders by the end of the year. Beyond 8 you start getting 2 and 3 loss teams. Do we really need 3 loss teams in a playoff? 8 would have been perfect, and I've never heard any explanation of why going to 12 was necessary. This year especially, 8 teams would have been perfect. Play this weekend with the top 4 teams playing at home. This "bye" idea with 12 sucks. As usual, they bypassed the logical common sense solution for dilution, which will water down big regular season games.
Maybe so. Most likely the top 2 power 4 conference finishers will always be in. That gives 4 wildcard spots. Make it 10 teams where the top 6 conference champs get a bye. Bottom 4 have to play in.
@ccampau Nope, the "automatic bid" idea sucks and always has. Some years the "conference winner" has 2 or even 3 Ls. Giving automatic slots to SECOND place finishers automatically with possibly 3 or 4 losses (see Iowa, ACC) would be incredibly stupid. Does anyone in their right mind think Iowa should be in the CFP, even if its 12 teams? They look like a Pee Wee football team. They hardly ever scored 3 TDs in a game. The only "guaranteed" slots should be the top 4 conference winners, whether its 8 or 12. Beyond that, its at large.
Being so scared of Florida State that you have to refuse to play them for a Title is the biggest compliment the program could receive . Curious what the narrative becomes when FSU beats Georgia & Bama & Texas both lose .
The B1G12, ACC, Pac12 are DEAD leagues, with the new SEC 16 teams, and the much needed evolution of the lowly B1G 10 with UCLA USC Wash Oregon The SEC forced the B1G 10 hand to expand because they COULD NOT compete with the present programs New Look SEC/B1G10: Texas - No.3 Alabama - No.4 Georgia - No.6 Missouri - No.9 Ole Miss - No.11 Oklahoma - No.12 LSU - No.13 Tenn - No.21 18 Teams in the new league format Michigan No.1 Washington - No.2 Ohio State No.7 Oregon - No.8 Penn State No.10 Iowa No.17
The solution is simple. Cut the regular season to 10 games and use the Bowl System for playoffs. Let's finally have a REAL Championship Team decided on the field. No more excuses, no more politics, and no more committees.
It seems ESPN doesn’t want to talk about Michigan w/o their coach playing like dumpster juice compared to when he was coaching and never getting docked for their SOS. Isn’t that part of the committee’s slick law about if a player or coaches are not available that can cause underperformance of the team?
Harbaugh is back though. Also imo Washington should be #1. But no one wants to have the conversation about Big 10 bias people too busy having the SEC live rent free in their brains😂
The SEC has one 13 of the last 17 College Championship Games. It doesn't make good business sense to leave them out. The decision wasn't hard. Alabama or Georgia would destroy any of these playoff teams. No one wants to see a repeat of Georgia/TCU last year.
If FSU fans honestly believed that FSU could beat any 1 of those 4 teams and move on the championship they’re delusional. Be realistic. Before the ACC championship they beat 4 unranked teams in a row for the month of November and they’re bragging about going undefeated. 😂
not an FSU Fan, But It don't matter if they could or couldn't. They should of been in to make that answer play out. Not allowing a team to play based on opinion is the dumbest bs ever. The fact that so many of you can't see the injustice, is unreal! I'd hate for you to ref or play in any kind of game i was a part of lol.
Take away the SB title for the '90 Giants. Simms got hurt in Week 15 and Hostetler famously led them to a 13-3 finish followed by the title. The league shouldn't have allowed the Giants in the playoffs.
Ironically the NFL playoffs were a 12 team bracket. ACC didn't want the 12 teamer to start this year. Jeff Hostetler is a way better backup than Rodemaker is currently. FSU would be playing Liberty in a playoff. I think.
Bama's win over UGA is what cost FSU its slot in the playoffs, and this is wrong. Had UGA won, my guess is that UGA, Mich, Wash and FSU would have been in the playoffs - all undefeated conference champs. Once Bama won, the Committee rightly recognized that Bama, with its win over #1 UGA, should go in the playoffs. What the Committee got wrong was moving Texas up, jumping FSU, and into the playoffs at that point.
FSU uses an RPO offense that relies solely on JT. If he did break his leg earlier noles would be lucky to get 7 wins. they deserve the spot for going undefeated but it was impossible for them to be competitive with the very best. I don't agree with what happened but i understand it.
There is not SEC bias. Maybe SEC fatigue, but not bias. The dominance of SEC teams at the national level just exists. People may not like it (I'm a Big-10 guy), but denying it doesn't make it less true.
People think expanding the playoffs to 12 teams will fix the problem. All it will do is create a bigger problem, with more schools to debate on. Games matter? No they don't. Money and ratings matter!

Yep. Nothing will change. This same committee will put 6 or 7 teams from the SEC.
Oh my god. He is lying!!!! This definitely was affected by ESPN, Disney and SEC. If you don’t believe that, you’re naive
Congrats Rece, got exactly what you wanted.
Rece is a huge dumbFk. He needs to be socked in the mouth a lot.
They should change it to most deserving. “Best” is far too subjective. Record, conference championship, SOR, head to heads, etc. I also think both the AP and Coaches polls should factor in far more. Nobody knows the game better than FBS coaches.
Rece Davis sounded the most biased of anybody all week and it became obnoxious no matter who you wanted, he made sure to push his propaganda on people
GameDay before the Miami FSU game they had a segment on who they thought would go in under different scenarios....Jordan Travis was Healthy....Rece argued that Texas and Alabama should be in over an undefeated Florida State. Next GameDay before Travis was injured...same thing...they even had a scenario where Michigan and FSU were undefeated and Kirk Herbstreit said 3 1 loss teams should go in front...Oregon, Texas and Georgia.
WOW, ESPN put a SEC team in.....such a surprise!!!! SEC BIAS ALL THE WAY!!!
The take away lesson is that you can overcome challenges and persevere but some old man in a closed room will decide your fate, and cheating pays dividends -ask Michigan.
Leave us outta this... We didn't stiff you guys, but we woulda gladly kicked yall @$$3$ though. GO BLUE!
TCU BEAT MICHIGAN BECAUSE MICHIGAN DID NOT THINK TCU WOULD BE IN FINAL 4 AND DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO SPY ON THEM LAST YEAR!
"I'm gonna miss the big regular season games." The ones Rece Davis spent the last month undermining.
Tate was out for a concussion. He would’ve been back in time for the championship game so Florida State wouldn’t have played with the true freshman Glenn.
Tate has played in over 10 games at Florida State
He threw touchdowns in the Florida game
Yea with 81 yards passing
@natewatson9292 they won. They focused on their strength on offense, the running game.
Everybody needs to watch Klatt. The injury was the perfect excuse for the committee to take the path of least resistance because they wanted Bama.
@michaelwankewycz6209 yea against a 7 loss Florida team. Sorry, without travis, FSU isn't even a top 12 team. They aren't going to beat any top 4 teams by passing for under 100 yards a game. Their run game alone isn't beating Georgia, bama, Michigan, Texas, or Washington. It sucks for the FSU players , but it's the truth. Without travis, this team is getting steam rolled. Their defense can't sit on the field all game long against one of those teams , while their offense goes three and out . Louisville had receivers open all game long. Had their QB even conteted with 50% of hiss passes to them, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. None of these top 4 teams QB's are going to miss that many wide open receivers.
@@RTK5357 Bamatards 27-24 against an 8 loss Arkansas team...Hail mary to beat 6-6 Aubum team...Any other teams I should throw in? 10 point loss at HOME...
I'm hoping now for a Alabama and Texas win. Then somehow FSU beats Georgia. The final AP and coaches pool will then have undefeated Florida State #1 as the last remaining unbeaten. Pure chaos at that point.
It will mean nothing. Scumbag committee. Put Scumbag bama in what a joke .
Can Jesus throw downfield for FSU
Texas fckn sucks.
@@jacobmoore9893Only if the Devil plays down in Georgia.
I'm a Washington fan and I'd be ok with this outcome. Florida State should be in this thing and I'd support any protest actions.
FSU fans say they've beaten more bowl eligible teams. Thats the standard they are mentioning.
FSU should play all walk ons. Treat it like a pre season game
Well that's basically what it is. It's an exhibition game nothing more. I hope our players that have NFL draft potential go ahead and move on and go make that money. They did all they could do to play for a national championship and flat out got screwed.
This is why the NFL playoffs are better then the CFP.
14 teams grab that money
NFL is rigged just as much
Why are you comparing professionals with amateurs?
Why couldn't they have had a one-time, special dispensation of a 6 team playoff this year? THIS WOULD FIX THE ENTIRE SITUATION!!!!
Totally agree! #1 #2 seeds byes... #1 plays winner of 4-5 and #2 plays winner of 3-6, whalla
@@AlCooper-h1l yes!!
There is a window of time to fix this. Otherwise college football is heavily tainted.
That "Temper tantrum" kept ESPN and the SEC from ramming an expanded playoff format down everyone elses throat. Florida State got screwed because
the playoff is expanding next year, so ESPN is counting on everyone moving on.

Hey Rece, It seemed like there was a time, when Bama could be put ahead of Texas, specifically after there loss, but the committee never showed any movement. I understand the head to head, but the committee moved people based on they performed. Mcelroy eluded to this on one of the shows.
FSU beat UF with a better spread than alabama. ALABAMA barely beat auburn! This is wayyyy to subjective!!
and Texas lost to a 2-loss team.
To all FSU & ACC lobbyists, Kentucky did it, they exposed the ACC this year, SEC bottom-feeder Kentucky ran over ACC top dog No.10 Louisville 38-31, then FSU was struggling to beat them scoring 16 points looking very weak!
Preach! They hate Facts! Like Bama being chosen 3rd in before Texas, Then Texas moved to 3rd because of the head to head game, FSU fans are hating on the wrong team lol. Go after Texas lol.. They caused it! Lol😊
Fsu should definitely walk out and then play nothing but walk ons

Rece! Idk if you feel obligated not to but I feel like we would love to hear more about your time at Alabama! As an alum myself it’s a wonderful place and I’m sure you have great stories!
Was pure BS! Should never have been a question if FSU should get in. They did everything right that they had to do to get in. The question should have been which of these 3 one loss teams deserves to get in UGA, Texas or Alabama!!!
Check Bama 's roster... You give them a month to prepare and its a slaughter if the other team doesn't have the same talent which Florida State does not.
They couldn't put in Alabama without Texas since Texas beat them so they put them both in because they wanted Alabama it's really that simple.
That's been how I've seeing it also. Why is all the controversy over FSU being left out? Nobody is making strong cases to why Texas was chosen. I'm really thinking the CFP just chose the teams that would bring in the highest ratings and ticket sales.
If 1 loss Georgia gets in does 1 loss Ohio State have an argument to get in, they have the same situation as Georgia?
Ahh so SMU was snubbed but they got it right with FSU. Great job Reece.
The committee just wanted Alabama and the SEC to win the national championship I hope Alabama loses in the playoffs sad what they did to the Noles players after they worked so hard this year. I'm not a FS. Fan but I'm an ACC fan and this is a slap in our face I'm done ragging lol
To quote Sankey the commissioner of the SEC one of these things is not like the other 13 and 0 is not like 12 and 1
If FSU beats 2 time defending national champion Georgia. They should be awarded a split national championship. Especially if they are the only undefeated. I mean they would have to beat an SEC team to do it right? If you can’t win a national championship without an SEC team losing check that box.
2023 using the BCS formula:
1-Michigan
2-Washington
3-Alabama
4-FSU
5-Texas
So everyone complaining about human Intervention, here's you computer at work..
Screw the CFP . Boycott the CFP bowl games.
So you’re punishing and justifying destroying precedent against FSU because of the ACC’s decisions
Boycott ASPN and College Gameday! Go Noles!!!!
And Disney/HULU as well. I have already cancelled. YouTUbe TV is better and cheaper.
So when is Jordan Travis getting his Heisman? Since he apparently won 10 games by himself and is the single reason FSU isn't in
Understand Georgia finna shut all this up they prolly dont even score a touchdown against Ga and everyone gonna see why
Lmao. Oh Stfu, you clowns lost to an overrated Alabama team. Altho I’m sure fsu won’t be motivated
No then all FSU people will say they didnt try that they wasnt playing for anything
FSU shouldn't accept orange bowl bid
If Bama loses, Georgia and FSU would have gotten in. The committee had to put Texas in to justify Alabama. SEC bias.
What pisses me off is that there is "Criteria" on the CFP website, but there is no order of it. Without an actual 1-5 order of the criteria, you have chaos and the committee has too much power. The Computer Rankings was the best system. The committee is fucked.
here are the FACTS. it doesn’t matter what the committee voted, ESPN analyst was on a podcast and in his own words said it doesn’t care about who deserves, the committee is going out in who we(ESPN) want. herstreit started the narrative before Travis got hurt. this is strictly espn sec bias plain and simple
Let it be cleared: Disney/ESPN just signed a $3 Billion with the SEC. That is why a 1 LOSS Alabama team jumped over the undefeated FSU. BTW, RUclips TV is better anbd cheaper than the Disney/HULU.
And some may say but are they the “best” that is completely subjective and is only suppose to be used when teams have same record !!!
facts!!!!!!!
Do we play to win the Game Reese?
TEXAS throttle Alabama and now Michigan has a chance to prove themselves by beating Alabama… TEXAS is ready Sark said clearly “we’ll play anybody, our team is ready to play anybody in the country”

Its the only sport competition i am aware off on the planet that is a mixure of sport (results) and a beauty contest!
Duplicity is beautiful considering comrade Kirk called this scenario PRE TRAVIS INJURY- seems as if the proverbial GPS destination was set ...and the committee would figure out the best 'route' to arrive there if Bama and UT did win out
Kirk is a paid Disney/ESPN promoter. Disney/ESPN just signed a $3 Billion with the SEC. That is why a 1 LOSS Alabama team jumped over the undefeated FSU.
2 points about the CFP long term:
they might want to work on a less biased selection process, if that's possible
also, they might want to seriously consider changing the playoffs so all the games up to the semis are played at the home venues of the higher ranked teams.
fans might complain "oh, college football is turning into the NFL now, i hate it!" but if fans say college football is special because of the regular season.
well, giving the top 2 ranked teams home field advantage throughout the playoffs will make the regular season more important than it's ever been. home field advantage in college football is a much bigger deal than in the NFL because in college, the players are mostly 18-23 years old. at that age it has been shown they are prone to being intimidated playing in another team's home venue. in the NFL we're talking about grown, GROWN up men who can handle the pressure of playing on the road.
unfortunately that will mean the bowls will no longer host playoffs games starting in the 2026 season.
the top 12 teams will be rewarded with playoff games, while the rest of the ranked & unranked teams will have the opportunity to play in the bowls.
Florida State fans are done with the SEC and ESPN. We want to go to Fox and help the big 10 take down the SEC with Recruiting etc.. F esecpn
The elephant in the room that’s not Alabama. Remember, the ACC, PAC 12 & BIG 10 formed an alliance that blocked the 12 team playoff from forming for another year. It would have been a 12 team playoff this year.
The transfer portal is crazy 🤪
Rece Davis his take on UGA IS RIDICULOUS
I love Reece Davis and the College Football Podcast !! i been watching since i was little. Just hearing this man talk has made me have grace with others.
ESPN's $3 BILLION deal with the average SEC has tainted the integrity of college football.
Kirk, Joey, Greg and Rece have become another Finebaum. Bias irrelevant.
@@georgewilson4245 i love it .
When did the best start being used and game control? Was it both fsu, asking for a friend
So FSU is not better than Bama, but they are better UGA?
It seems like they did a few things different the previous #1 dropped to #6 and Texas and Alabama jumped 4 spots.
@ccampau
Nope, the "automatic bid" idea sucks and always has.
The B1G12, ACC, Pac12 are DEAD leagues, with the new SEC 16 teams, and the much needed evolution of the lowly B1G 10 with UCLA USC Wash Oregon
The SEC forced the B1G 10 hand to expand because they COULD NOT compete with the present programs
New Look SEC/B1G10:
Texas - No.3
Alabama - No.4
Georgia - No.6
Missouri - No.9
Ole Miss - No.11
Oklahoma - No.12
LSU - No.13
Tenn - No.21
18 Teams in the new league format
Michigan No.1
Washington - No.2
Ohio State No.7
Oregon - No.8
Penn State No.10
Iowa No.17
Only 4spots with 5conferences every year some team is going to get left out. Last year tcu did not belong. It was a boring natty.
But no one wants to have the conversation about Big 10 bias people too busy having the SEC live rent free in their brains😂
or Texas losing to a 2-loss team.
How about a team of cheaters getting the #1 ranking and playing for the title???
The SEC has one 13 of the last 17 College Championship Games. It doesn't make good business sense to leave them out. The decision wasn't hard. Alabama or Georgia would destroy any of these playoff teams. No one wants to see a repeat of Georgia/TCU last year.
Do u really think that Alabama or Georgia would crush Washington, Texas, or Michigan this year? I don’t think so
That's pure speculation and biased opinion
@@natlovell122 I said what said!

not an FSU Fan, But It don't matter if they could or couldn't.
Same with the 2017 eagles. Clearly they should have not been given the opportunity with mvp front runner wentz going down
Ironically the NFL playoffs were a 12 team bracket.
Alabama all fixed just like the NFL
There is not SEC bias. Maybe SEC fatigue, but not bias. The dominance of SEC teams at the national level just exists. People may not like it (I'm a Big-10 guy), but denying it doesn't make it less true.
They didn’t concern themselves with the term “best” until it involved an excuse to add Ala to the mix…disappointing and disingenuous
I don't understand why y'all picture is so cloudy. You could use an Iphone and get a clearer stream lol.
People think expanding the playoffs to 12 teams will fix the problem. All it will do is create a bigger problem, with more schools to debate on. Games matter? No they don't. Money and ratings matter!
