FSU, no disrespect to TCU, UCF, Cincinnati, Boise St, or whoever,
But FSU is a top 10 program of all time, fanbase, atmosphere, revenue generator, championships, traditions, history.
People like me, who are NOT FSU fans just became one, because this is a ridiculous slap in the face to steal the opportunity from a program that finally bounced back, 20-0 streak, played 2 SEC teams this year, 2 last year, won ALL their games. Blew out the #5 LSU team to start the season and held them to nothing in the 2nd half at all until garbage time with freshmen on the field.
You cant truly justify putting not one but TWO teams with losses ahead of a team and program as good as FSU.
Most level headed bama and texas fans truly thought it came down to just one of them since they EARNED a loss. No one was more on edge than the teams and fanbases of teams with 1 loss when there were three undefeated p5 conference champions ahead of them....
Its an unreal travesty. People saying FSU has no chance obviously didnt watch Michigan play TCU last year.
Contrary to ESPN's propaganda on the matter, as time passes, more and more people are joining the FSU side of this debate. It just doesnt make sense.

As an FSU fan, I think they shouldn’t play in the bowl game. But instead of stating that publicly before the game, they should let everyone think they’re playing and show up to the game and the whole team run out in normal clothes and forfeit the game. That way the NCAA can’t choose a different team to play that game and they will lose a ton of money with all the refunds the NCAA will have to give back to the fans who paid for tickets and to companies that paid for advertising for the game. The NCAA can try to blame FSU but FSU will put blame back on them for leaving them out.

FSU's Seminole Tribe backing could very well disappear should the football team surrender on the field without even showing their grit; DO NOT FLOP, SEMINOLES. After all, what's the slogan? UNCONQUERED!!! That lovely, emotive monument outside Campbell Stadium would have to be removed, or at least the title chiseled off and re-engraved "They Surrendered!" It’s easy to feel like that as a UGA fan. Y’all have won nattys the past two years. FSU went through the lowest of lows and finally have a 13-0 conference champ that was rejected. This decision will limit any ACCs teams ability to to be ranked above big 10 or sec teams with a worse record. This will affect recruiting classes. How many people better the transfer portal. Meanwhile UGA can keep in trucking and immediately compete for a championship next year given they. This is a system where the rich get richer. What’s competitive about that?

  • @ChrisWrightDVM
    @ChrisWrightDVM 10 месяцев назад +26

At least if you kept Alabama out, yes they'd be angry, but... the program/players/coach could all move on, understanding that it was in their control. They could have won that game!!!! And they didnt!!! Instead, they got beat by double digits, at night, in their own house. It's ON THEM. Their control.
By leaving FSU out, you have eliminated ON THE FIELD play, control of one's own destiny on the field. Entirely. The program, players, coach, fans... all did everything possible from day 1. They knew the optics of the SEC was biased, so they made sure to schedule traditional powerhouse SEC teams to bolster the resume (schedules made years in adldvance mind you), in UF and LSU. They won every game, 13-0 perfect season, and the conference championship. They share 1 common opponent with Bama, and beat LSU by more points, and held them to less points.
By leaving FSU out, you ruin the very integrity of college football... on the field play is done. What your basically saying, is everyone MUST join the SEC to be given the benefit of doubt. All recruits must now pick only two conferences because NOW, they've seen a group of 13 old people behind closed doors will negate on the field play. The end result of this, is join the SEC and don't break a leg. What a great message. So much easier for the nation to accept just dropping the team that LOST BY DOUBLE DIGITS AT HOME, instead of screwing a team that has NOT shown they can be beaten. You may THINK they'd lose based on future hypothetical matchups, and that's what this has now come to. Future opinions of hypothetical matchups matter more than on the field play. Just look at Oregon Washington, everyone had Oregon, 10pts favorites... and then they PLAYED ON THE FIELD. Washington was given their chance and proved you all wrong.

Whereas all the other conferences have the best teams mostly play each other. Osu, UM, PSU, play every year. FSU, Clem, UT, OU, every year. USC, UW, UO, play every year. Bama rarely plays LSU, TENN, UG every single year. UG doesn’t play LSU, BAMA, TENN, TAM, every year. People want to get on tv and tell us how bad fsu qb play is at 13-0 all while ignoring the last month of JJ mccarthy of michigan. He has 1 td pass and hasnt thrown for over 150yds. He had 60yds vs penn state, 141 yds 1int vs maryland, 148 yds 1td vs ohio state and 147yds against iowa. Thats an average of less than 125yds per game the last 4 games. Fsu qb play is so bad they dont even get a chance to play in the playoffs while michigan is the #1 team with their qb play. Fsu was ranked 4th beat a top 14 team by 10 points and dropped a spot. Texas ranked 7th played the16th ranked team in oklahoma state won 49-21 and jumped from 7th to 3rd. . The same oklahoma state team that lost to south alabama 33-7 and ucf 45-3. When choosing the most deserving teams, margin of victory should matter when determining the quality of an opponent of a team being considered, but it should not matter for the team being considered itself. For example, Oregon's power rating is still ahead of Washington because Oregon has won most of their games comfortably. So in a ranking based on merit, Oregon's power rating helps only Washington because they beat Oregon twice head-to-head, regardless of the margins. In the case of the Alabama/Florida State controversy, it gets complicated because Texas and Georgia's power ratings are both better than any team on Florida State's schedule, so we haven't seen FSU's ceiling and there is no definitive argument to prove which team is more deserving. My system ranks Alabama slightly ahead of Florida State for the 4th slot; however, in case of these razor-thin differences, I definitely would give FSU the benefit of the doubt and let them keep playing until they lose, as Bill said.

Common sense media types, players, coaches consider the FSU snub to be obscene: Feldman, Booger, RGIII, Mullen, Brando, Moscona, Crain, Smoak, Desmond, Sherman, Malzhan.
The media types cheering the FSU snub have an agenda and that ‘Best’ agenda is and was always fundamentally wrong: Herbstreit, Finebaum, Rece, Barrie, Galloway, Stinchcomb, Doering, Spikes. All shills to protect their brand.

I believe the wrong comparison was made by the CFP. It should not have been FSU against Bama; rather the comparison should have been between FSU and Michigan. Just compare the two: 1) Both Michigan and FSU were undefeated and won their Conference; 2) Both were in the top 10 at the start of the season (UM #2; FSU #8); 3) Both had 1 win against a top 5 opponent (UM vs. #2 Ohio State; FSU vs. #5 LSU); 4) Both Michigan and FSU had similar strengths of schedules (UM 53; FSU 55); 5) Both Michigan and FSU had similar winning records against ranked opponents when they played them (UM 3-0 against Penn State, Ohio State, & Iowa; FSU 4-0 against LSU, Clemson, Duke, & Louisville); 6) Both have winning records against teams who are ranked at the end of the season (UM 3-0 against Ohio State, Penn State, & Iowa; FSU 3-0 against LSU, Louisville & Clemson) 7) Both have similar offensive numbers (UM averaged 219 passing yards & 162 rushing yards pre game; FSU averaged 260 passing yards & 157 rushing yards per game); 8) Both had sub-par performances from the QB play against their biggest rivals (UM against OSU in the Big House - McCarthy 148 Passing Yards; FSU against Florida in the Swamp - Rodemaker 134 Passing Yards); 9) Both had sub-par performances offensively in their Conference Championship game (UM had 213 Total Yards of Offense; FSU had 219 Total Yards of Offense. 10) Both played average Conference foes in their Championship Game (UM vs. #16 Iowa; FSU vs. #15 Louisville). The comparisons can go on and on, and if you look at the data, they are very similar; so why did the committee not compare them? This should have been the real debate - between FSU and Michigan; not FSU and Bama. Not sure why that never happened?!?

The formula but not purely the formula because Texas got down voted in 2008 to let OU in even though they beat them to head to head. Committee has to use rules if there are 5 or more conferences champions in the top 6 to determine the bye weeks. Also, the committee gets to use rules to evaluate 10 throw 14 in the formula to determine the last two entries. Then you do NFL type rules to prevent early rematches by similarly ranked teams. Say withing 3 spots.

SEC bias in a year when the ACC beat the SEC 6 -4. FSU beat #5 LSU on the road, and Florida on the road w/ FSU's #2 QB. FSU won their ACC Championship with a 3rd string QB by double digits. How does an undefeated ACC champion lose out to the 1 loss weaker SEC champion, who barely beat out Arkansas at home with Bamas 1st String QB, by merely 3 points, 1/3 of the margin of victory that FSU had beating a top 15 team while starting their 3rd string QB. CFP is officially an SEC proxy, CFP is an abbreviation for Committee for Profit. Disgusting ruling, compared to the heart of a champion FSU displayed all year on the field. Results matter, put FSU in, and remove Alabama. Ohio State should be # 5, they lost to the current #1 Michigan. If not, Committee for Profit is telling all of college football that the regular season is irrelevant. If Any playoff QB gets injured in practice, then FSU takes their place? What sense does that make? CFP is legally liable for additional security on every QB in the playoff, their foolish decision has placed a bounty on every QB in the playoff between now and the first game. Without removing Alabama, this years playoff winner is disqualified due to CFP incompetence. The talking heads don't feel bad for FSU, they are lining their pockets for being biased toward Bama and the SEC. Florida State Seminoles, the heart of a champion!!!!!

If you want to go down that road then maybe you should think about how bama needed a miracle to win against a 6 win auburn that was destroyed the week before against a mid major. They also had a beat Arkansas by 3 points and let’s not forget about that war they survived against south Florida. I agree with you that fsu is probably not better than bama or uga right now. If the qualification is "1-loss P5" then there are 7. The only way you conclude there are exactly 5 is if you conclude that Michigan sneaking past Ohio State makes the Buckeyes disqualified, and 'Bama sneaking by Georgia somehow makes the Tide so good they're qualified and the Dawgs aren't. But the only way to come to the conclusion the Committee did is to assume 'Bama is SO MUCH better than Georgia and Michigan is SO MUCH better than Ohio State that the results on the field don't matter.

It's a racket. They didn't change it because they like to have the control of choosing who goes into playoff not letting it play out on the field.

Ed, I’m actually a Texas fan not a WVU fan. My point is that style points have always mattered in Cfb, good or bad. I know WVU ended up getting blown out. FSU was a better team even with 1 loss. Maybe FSU will get blown out by Georgia with their backup QB?

Dont tell people how they should react. This is not a UCF team playing through a G5 schedule trying to stake a false claim in a national championship. This is a worldwide recognized brand that has won a title more recently than 3 of the 4 schools that were selected. Talk SOS whatever you want but FSU has played the same conference for decades and going undefeated was always enough, even when there were only 2 teams. This was a money/views and clicks move, not only for the playoffs but all the content that gets spun in the backlash as well. Just be honest so we know what we’re dealing with in the future.

Im a Ga fan and I hope FSU beats Ga by more than a field goal, I also hope Michigan runs over Alabama. The committee was doing just fine until the very end. If they wanted an SEC team in the playoffs they should’ve kept FSU at 4 and picked between Texas and Alabama at 3. Picking a team that beat the number 1 team in the nation as an excuse to put Alabama in over Texas would’ve been a heck of a lot less controversy then taking FSU out.

Ask yourself why have they not made a system that plays itself out on the field like the pros? Because they can control who they want to win by choosing the dogs in the fight. And you can do that when you set a ranking system up based on the capability of the athletic talent on the team versus how the team actually plays on the field. Because of the bias around capability (five-star talent). Teams aren't even given an opportunity because they're not deemed worthy enough to be able to play because they are not as talent laden as other teams but the talent capable teams don't play as well or are not at undefeated. The integrity of this game has been gone for over 15 years.

But if you guys think that Michigan has any kind of a chance against Alabama you’re living in an alternate state of reality I mean come on guys, REALLY! I have not heard one comment about GA. They were beat up more than I thought and I thought I knew what was happening. Snd if , if , if. If GA was healthy. It would have been a different game. I don’t like Alabama, but I respect them. And these guys that pick the four games so they don’t go to the games they don’t go out in the field. It’s hilarious. They shouldn’t be picking from the menu as pertains to what they want for dinner one AA, has a 4:33 4:40 16 team playoff for years. Works perfect. Dumbest !
