Flying Fur & Puttin' on the Dog: Side by Side Comparison

Flying Fur is a 1981 short by George Griffin, where he animated his own imagery to go along with the music & sound effects of the 1944 Tom & Jerry short Puttin' On The Dog. It's a very entertaining, playful short on its own, but it adds to the humor if you can contrast Griffin's riffs with the original action.

In some ways, this low-budget short was ahead of its time. Today we're used to the remix culture of creators sampling and riffing on old media (just look at all the "reanimated collabs" that use a similar concept to this) but in 1981, that was extremely rare!
Griffin has done a number of indie shorts with his unique brand of humor and charm, which often has a satirical undertone.
