One good options to get your boots dry is to put inside old newspapers or something similar. It absorbs humidity quite fast. Just put inside and than change it in 2-3 hours. I did it several times while riding BAM road where you have to cross rivers 10 times a day. Thanks for video!
I know this, Kosta, but this cannot dry it completely. My boots were wet because I was walking in deep rivers. the water fill them from the top. You cannot dry it for 2-3 hours with newspapers.
@@motorcycleadventures I think he means, to change against fresh newspaper. Obviously, you can't dry boots that wet in 2-3 hours unless you use an electric blower, and even that I wouldn't bet on. But overnight is a chance with the newspapers. In Finland we also had lot's of water in the boots from the upside, it always meant riding till end of day with wet feet. All we did after such river crossings was pull them off, wring the socks, pour the contents of the boot into the scenerey and reassemble. Drying overnight is easy in a Sauna. Only do your Sauna before putting them in.
I agree about the sauna, but with newspapers, it doesn't matter how often you change them, you cannot dry it completely. They will absorb a lot of water, but not everything.
Waterproof layer on the outside is by far the best way. All goretex eventually wets out. Actually looks good, too. Regarding the patreon question, 30 minutes work for me. Ride safe and happy travels 👍
i go the other way around with a rain shell on the inside as it allows my asphalt barriers to dry faster and when im not on the bike i can wear them on treks.
@@anotheryoutuber_ Hmm, but if you wear the rain shell over the asphalt barrier, the asphalt barrier never gets wet in the first place = zero time to dry out. Or am I missing something?
@@anotheryoutuber_ Something nobody talks about is the windchill from water evaporating off a textile outer layer. Sure, they dry faster, but that very process of drying sucks out heat. As opposed to a fully impermeable rain shell, where most of the water bounces off. I still use goretex, but if it's going to rain all day I chuck a shell on over the top.
UK viewer here. Very interesting video, especially your tip about using gore-tex trousers only. I currently have an old Klim suit I’m looking to replace (Badlands Pro gore-tex top and bottom) for a more road biased suit and will look into Revit 👍
I think the offtrack is going to be the touring jacket I buy. I wish they had a nice tan colour like the sand 3. I don't really understand why they keep messing with the colour schemes so much. Thank you for the reviews!
I bought the Revit 3 layer pants thinking that one pant could cover all weather conditions. It takes a lot of time to take the insulated and the rain layer in and out of the pants. Yes Gortex would have been a much better choice for pants.
@@motorcycleadventures The T-700 is on my Wishlist.. Why On Earth can't Yamaha change the gear rations in the Transmission to a Wide Rato Transmission. Really useful advice. Thanks Pavlin. BTW... the fastest way to dry boots is to stuff them with newspaper. This method is much faster than blowing hot air inside (take it from a trials rider who's boots get wet inside every day).
Like Rev-It designs & colour options however i could not find sizes that could fit Me. 185cm, 120kg viking from Scandinavia. So i turned to Klim fits Me perfectly. Thanx for great content. Your a legend. Cheers
Very interesting Pavlin, I was looking forward to this video. Well done. can you please elaborate more about how dry you were in your top part when you put on your rain jacket? Did it work well as the Dominator GTX worked for you in the past?
Thank you for the great video! Since I am considering buying Offtrack 2 or Sand 4 jacket and there is no direct comparison out there, you are one of the people who tried both. Which one would you choose? I suppose Offtrack has better ventilation right? Thanks for response.
I just watched 'XTREME MOTO ADVENTURE' riding in Indian monsoon season. They wore modern gear plus rain gear and plastic ponchos riding through waterfalls. They still got wet, but it was their electronics that went into a pot of rice for drying.
Thank you so much Pavlin, as always is so nice to have your opinion as fresh as u feel it. One question, have you tested the vertical jacket??it could be an option for an on road only trip?? Thanksss
Thank you Pavlin for another great and honest review. I ordered the Offtrack 2 jacket a few days ago based on your review and I am glad to see it held up nicely for someone who rides in way more harsh conditions than me. I just wanted to ask ,because mine hasn't arrived yet, if it gets cold from the small ventilation holes on the neck area without wearing any of the liners?
Do you prefer the Offtrack 2 Jacket compared to the Sand 4 H2O Jacket? The chest venting on the Offtrack seems a lot better for warmer weather with larger vents. Although the Sand 4 has longer zippers on the sleeves. Are they about the same weight without the two liners?
Thanks for the review! I am wondering how you would compare this jacket to the sand 4 in terms of weight, ventilation/hot weather riding and maneuverability ?
Hello Pavlin, can you say anything about the gloves you were using? I have not had much succes in finding gloves that stay dry after hours of rain. All the Goretex gloves that I have tried in many years from many brands always become moist inside after an hour or two in the rain.
I had Gore-tex gloves from REVIÍT! but they also become wet after 4-5 hours. After that is very difficult to take them of or on. For that reason I was using cheap, summer gloves with heated grips 90% of the time.
Thank you for your always very good video. I'm curious if you know REVIT STRATUM GTX. Here in South America we also have a very variable climate in the north, very hot with rapid and intense rains, then again heat with a lot of humidity. Then you can get 5 days of rain in a row… Then going down to Patagonia the wind, rain, and intense cold begin. It would be great if you tried REVIT STRATUM GTX and let us know your opinion. Thanks
@@motorcycleadventures I thought it might be a good option, given the description of your needs (which are very similar to mine). I'll draw my conclusions in December when I have the chance to see it in a store.
I have 4 years old revit gear. The defender GTX. I put arround 45 000 kms on them but light use I would say, mainly asphalt and civilization :). Except an annoying stud that ripped through the material right at the belt buckle (which I promptly fixed) everythig else is good. I had some cayenne gloves but those tore a hole at the left finger tip (yeah it's me not always having cut fingernails ... but still) and the stitching came loose on the same finger tip I think. Anyways, I don't have revit hands as it were, alpinestars fit me perfectly though. All in all good gear and it looks handsome. Those revit boots though, NO WAY IN HELL am I'm going to pay that price. Heavy duty alpinestars, with gore tex are almost half the price.
