I love that you're actually testing the trigger and stick accuracy. These issues have been present on pretty much all 8bitdo controllers depending on which firmware version you're using (many times newer ones worsen this) but very few people actually address these things
my 8bitdo had an error on the left of around 13.7 and the right was 11.6, not bad but the sticks never drifted away from 0.00002 even with deadzone disable turned on
The whole reason to buy this controller is for the hall effect sticks. The only other controller with them is the guliKit king kong pro which has poor QC issues like buttons and polling rate. The circularity test matches my xbox series x and other third party controllers, it's perfectly normal.
I'm an avid PSO2 player, and I've gone through three Xbox controllers (two One, one Series) within the 2.5 years playing the game, with the Series controller giving away to joystick drift (left-stick forward in random intervals) in just four months. I, too, have been wanting a Hall Effect -based controller, and we're tied between the KingKong 2 Pro and this. I've looked at KK2P reviews during my Hall effect studies, and some things about that controller specifically aren't needed, like its "AI" button. I'm also in the 8bitdo ecosystem, with the SN30 GP, Pro+, Pro 2, and soon this, with soon-to-be three dongles. Apparently this controller also works on Steam Deck. I like how this controller can have button and gasket replacements; former with the Xbox layout. All I have are a PC, Steam Deck, and a Switch anyway, so this fits the bill.
I’ve received mine today. Bought it to use with the Switch buy manly to play with emulators on my Nvidia Shield Tv. I didn’t need to do any firmware updates. It automatically connected to my Nvidia Shield TVs as soon as I turned the Bluetooth button on and asked for my Shields to pair with it. Both connected right away and it allows me to control the Shield interface and also any games I’ve tried with it. It definitely connects with Android devices.
Oh wow. I wasn't expecting it to not work with Android. I was considering it for Android gaming in general, but I decided to go with the good ol' Pro2 instead, and it has been working amazingly so far. I do hope they release an update that allows it to be used with Android.
Mine wakes up the switch. You just gotta hold the button a bit and wiggle the controller to activate the gyroscope. It's always worked for me. It takes a little bit longer than the original pro but I like this controller much much more
To connect the controller to android you have to enable 2.4g on the back and GPS on the android device And to wake up the switch you have to press the home button to turn on the controller and then shake it to wake up the switch
What I want 8BitDo to make is this controller, with the pro 2 case/shell, and the genesis d-pad. That d-pad is extremely good, idk why it's not available as on option on all their controllers.
how's the latency with bluetooth? does it work well with emulators right out the gate? and is the rumble decent? meaning it doesn't feel choppy or you feel like it will break easily
I tried an 8bitdo Pro 2 and compared to my Dual Shock 4 (my favorite) and Dual Sense (also good but too bulky) controllers, it felt less comfortable, cheaper and the sticks had nowhere near enough resistance. Considering you think that is better than the ultimate, I will avoid this one too. I am waiting for a controller more like the Dual Shock 4, with a symmetrical stick layout like Sony, but with a nice feel to the analog sticks that are also hall effect.
the gyro doesn't work on Pac at all extremely disappointing from an "ultimate" controller. get a Switch Pro, DS4, or DualSense. similar price and gyro on PC works with little issue
Mr Sujano, press the home button and shake the controller, that will wake the switch. It's a weird way for them to do it, but that's how they did it. Also I had no problem with the app, maybe you need to update the app?
Also worth noting that the 50 dollar version does not have bluetooth and only works with a dongle, so not great with android unless it's a android TV thing
Even disregarding my personal preference for Playstation placed analog sticks and the face buttons do seem more comfortable visually, I do think that dropping Android support in order to release two (actually more if we count the wired versions) controllers is a downgrade from the Pro 2 and possibly even the pro+. I like having the "one controller to rule them all". :)

@@anonymous7024 "a beta firmware linked in a Reddit post" just proves the company meant to maximise profits by making some gamers buy more than one of the same product for arbitrary reasons and thus - solidifies my opinion that the controller is actually a downgrade in terms of utility.

So I managed to get my controller to work with the app, apparently you need to have your location on and be in bluetooth mode. Why location on? Seems Google links bluetooth device locating with your location or some such. That's the only reliable way I've managed to get my phone app to pick up my ultimate bluetooth controller
Very thorough review as usual thanks for the in-depth. No turbo, no retro for me, though. We all grew up with access to first or third party turbo controllers (NES Advantage etc), but most controller manufacturers gloss over this fact. Track and Field 2, Mega Man 3, Contra... C'mon. I've bought four Gamesir T4 Pros last year and they work fine with Android, Switch and PC AND they have turbo. Can't recommend em enough.
As unfortunate as it is that the price of the Ultimate it quite high while the Pro 2 offers the same features for less, I simply cannot use symmetrical joysticks. The Switch/Xbox layout is so much better for me.
Their previous controller had a replaceable battery and compatibility with switch, PC and android, is also 20 dollars cheaper, sns2 pro I think it's called.
For me it can't be the ultimate cause they removed the turbo feature which just does my head in. I need it for certain games, especially retro, as an old man with arthritis, so it's a no go for me even though I prefer the offset Xbox stick layout.
Looks awesome but I wish they'd give up the shady Nintendo layout because Nintendo have messed up every controller since the SNES and with no android and no Linux support means not interested in the slightest so I'll stick to my sn30 pro and arcade stick even though I needs a pad for my steam deck
