i grew up in the mission in the 90's. it used to be so getto but so beautiful at the same time.
I lived in the Mission District for 22 years (25th and Folsom) and it was an ideal place for a struggling musician and artist. Thank you for showing it in such a positive light. There is still magic in those streets.

I was born and raised in the mission District, I can truly say it’s the best neighborhood in SF, el faro is def the spot to go! One very famous spot you forgot to visit is Balmy alley, about 15 minutes walking from el faro. Also 826 Valencia is an awesome pirate store that the funds go to many first generation students in different ways such as tutoring, scholarships and more!

I visited SF 5 years ago and again 3 years ago. Beautiful city. However, lots of homeless people, stench and open drug use which kind of took away from the natural beauty of the city . I’ve heard it has only gotten worse. Really really bad including theft and break ins now. What has your and other peoples recent experiences been like?!
It unfortunately agree that it has gotten worse. It is quite sad.
In all reality, the mission has gotten worse because of the insane and rapid gentrification that has been happening. It is a Latino neighbor that has been disappearing due to all the techies that have been movies into the neighborhood. Inflation is huge here

sadly, San Francisco is a dying city and the locals have only themselves to blame.
