Thanks Todd for keep these arcade classics alive.one if my favorites from my childhood was ladybug.
There was this hyperactive kid in my old neighborhood when I was a kid. He was so fun in the arcades because he'd throw a big tantrum, start cussing so much they'd kick him out of the arcade. Dragons Lair was probably the one that drove him the most crazy.
this was part of my childhood! back when arcades were a thing, I could never get over Dexter saying "far out!", that was so hippie! :D
Great video. I wondered how it all worked and where the laser disk was. It is absolutely incredible that while computers had floppy disks and simple platformer games, there was an interactive video with high resolution.
Love the cocky laugh he gets when turned into Space Ace. Boy did I play this game, it was another reason to waste my week salary after spending the better part of a year figuring Dragons Lair out. Some time after I finally slayed the dragon this Space Ace machine appeared at my local arcade, guess the owner tough it was better business to introduce a new challenge for the teens. Remember he turned the speaker volume up real loud so that we could all hear the promo scenes. I was all over it like a bee! Hehe. Needless to say I rounded this game as well, making me quite popular amongst fellow gamers. And probably an annoying little critter too. Mastering both Dragons Lair and Space Age carried some serious weight back then.
I have never seen this in real life, awesome video respect for keeping these machine alive ! 😎
Great video, subscribed (also I see a Space Duel cab in the background, I loved that game!)
well, they were running 12-15 hours a day...and in the attract mode, the players were constantly running...even if no one was playing it. Spinning motors and moving laser heads---and early 80's electronics were not a good match! In a private home, they tend to run much longer!
Nice, I remember playing this quite a lot in the arcades. Watching a crowd build up around me when fighting Borf was always a bit nerve racking. I used to live 2 doors down from Dan who did the voice for Dirk the daring in dragons lair. Used to go over there alot as I was good friends with his younger brother. I remember him giving me a dragons lair flip book and space ace poster signed by Don Bluth. Awesome times! Just grabbed the space ace dedicated cabinet of space ace from new wave toys. What a beauty! Not sure I remember the red trim back then on the conversion kit space ace cab. Did you add that? Great video by the way!
Thanks for the memories. Don Bluth actually sold old Space Ace laserdiscs through his fan club after the craze died down. I still have mine.
Very interesting. Have a nice day now.
Used to play this game in my local arcade back in the day. Now I have the HD version on my iPad.
I didn't have faith Todd could play this... I should never have doubted the Tuckey!
I know this is one of your much older uploads, but am just seeing it for first time, them constant cut screens on that game would and did drive me crazy, its no wonder them laser disc didn't work out in future game builds, liked the vid Todd, its kind of novel how far y'all have come in the industry since this video, shared with our community as well, Have a Great day and God bless
Its fun MOST of the time!!
Thank you for this fascinating behind the scenes look at the tech of the game.
I just love the 3 Don Bluth Laserdisc games. I was lucky and found the DVD set of all 3 years ago at a pawn shop.
Todd you have the best job in the world :)
Todd , you are really awesome, i wish there was a way to ressurrect the arcade fever from the 80s - 90s, it is a dying art
I had about 20 mins memorized back in the day...such a cool game.
