What would you do if you were in Chicago's position? Do you think Fields deserves another year?

While Lamar comes close, I've never seen anyone so hated by NFL fans for no reason. This will be long, but I'm gonna point out some things that happened in the public eye because it should illustrate overlooked factors.
Remember when Mac Jones was caught seeking advice outside the Pats? Now imagine if Bellichick had responded by Saying Nothing.
We'd _know_ Jones was gone, right? Well? Fields called out his coaches around week 9 of '22. Remember what the Bears said?
Nothing. Not the team's owner. Not the HC whose job supposedly depended upon winning with him. Not the GM who hired that HC over other WAY MORE qualified candidates & whose entire career could be haunted or ended by the mistake of trading away a franchise QB unnecessarily.
Can you imagine any other team not looking into this? Yet somehow, by just Saying Nothing even media didn't follow up on it. Anyhow, there is our first Overt Indication that whatever the problems were, the Bears had Zero Intention Of Fixing Things.
But they kept him there for a year and a half. So tell me, what was the plan? Can _you reconcile_ a team not caring if their QB lived or died with having kept him for another 1.5 years? Why not start Bagent? Wtf was going _ON_ here? Because even if the fans & press ignored it, _Fields knew_ that you were done with him. So wtf? Imagine being on a team whose Entire Staff thought So Little Of You they didn't even bother to reprimand you publicly?
      Something ain't right with this.

Okay, in line with my comment below, "Matt Eberflus had a plan." See what you did there? Eberflus had _NEVER_ called offense In His Life before becoming HC of the Bears. If this week 9 performance was His Calling, why tf did he wait _nine _*_weeks_* to call it?
A clue comes from the 5 or so week surge in offense the Bears had in '23 where they almost swept the Lions. Coaches don't use each others' plays. Eberflus, who *had boasted about* meddling in the offense was too busy acclimating Montez Sweat & the new DC to the team to meddle as much. The plays used in this stretch were the same ones used to unleash Fields' rushing ability.
    Therefore they were _Getsy's_ plays.
An OC can't overrule an HC. So Eberflus is the fool who twice cancelled all these plays that made the Bears a better offense. There's more. That "confusing statement" you refer to? Go listen to Any & All Clips of Eberflus talking to the press about Fields. Notice anything?
Neither of them ever refer to any conversation they ever had.
Eberflus is an egomaniac who refuses to speak directly to Fields as if they're from social classes too far separated for him to come down to Fields' level. *Everything* he says is about what "Fields Has To Do." Nothing about discussions with Fields. A good coach works with his players. Eberflus gives Every Indication That he orders people around like lackeys.
This is additional. Charisma affects people & apparently 'Flus has a lot of it. I have to go by how analysts fans & the press react to him because it isn't working on me at all. This guy couldn't possibly give us more overt clues that he thinks Fields is beneath him.
Yet everyone just keeps lapping up everything he says. When he boasted about deciding what plays to limit the offense to no one questioned this. No one pointed to the Bears' terrible offensive production. Despite him having Never Called Any Offense Before, you, all media & all fans thought he was calling Great Plays & Fields was The Only Problem because He Implied So. Isn't that amazing?
Media stopped talking to Getsy altogether & there are No Videos analyzing the plays he called. I *can find ones* crediting him with releasing Fields rushing ability though which if true, why do you think it was his idea? If it _was his,_ why'd he cancel using them, hmm?
Here's the only play I *_KNOW_* he called: he called for Fields not to throw to certain receivers on certain plays. Not even if they got Open. Not even if they were the Only Receiver to get open.
I know this because 1) Fields unnaturally & spasmodically *stopped himself* from throwing to them mid-motion, 2) Eberflus chop-waved shut any reporter who dared to ask him about this for weeks afterwards & 3) because they never took fields into the blue tent.
    2) Revealed that it was His Call. If it were Getsy's he could have simply stepped in & said "never again." Instead, Fields did it at least twice more in the first game he ever did this (I _think_ it was around week 4 of '22). By never taking him into the blue tent this showed they knew Fields wasn't concussed. & the only way they could know without checking was because they knew he was carrying out the plays as called.
So this is another instance of his charisma I guess resulting in him getting away with BS No Coach should ever be allowed to get away with.
