I think its a similar feeling I have with announcing projects that barely have even started development: If all you have is talk, then maybe its best not to speak.
I hate playing a game when I know there's an update coming out. It makes me feel like any progress I make will be all for nothing when the new update drops.
I didn't notice it too much, but I remember No man's sky promised a lot of huge features but haven't added even half of them. I believe in indie stone though.
Of course the behavior isn't acceptable. It's really shifty crappy nonsense behavior that no developer should be doing. Either be transparent or don't make games. I don't know why they lack in basic managerial and time management skills to get something finished on time or at least (common sense) release smaller updates like everyone else does. I don't know how this just doesn't make sense to them. You don't need to add 32 floors this update. Just do an engine fix and maybe lights. Then 32 floors. Then NPCs. Then water. Then silly hats. I don't know how they've gotten so complacent and why we all kiss their ass when they continue to make so many excuses. Sure the game is like nothing that's out. But someone will make something better than Project Zomboid eventually but they just don't care. They obviously have enough shekels and 🤷🏻♂️.
great video but minecraft isnt even indie anymore its owned by microsoft and they have insane resources. I think the staggering update times were due to development for bedrock versions

Definitely!
Great points made in this video
