LOVEBITES is a Japanese all-female heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by former Japanese heavy metal band DESTROSE members Miho( bass,backing vocals) and Haruna(drums). The band has successfully performed at various major international rock-festivals many times .In the spring of 2018, LOVEBITES performed on the Japanese leg of the Warped Tour. In August 2018, they performed at Wacken Open Air (Germany), becoming the first Japanese all-female rock band to perform at the festival in the history of the festival (since 1990). Also in August 2018 they performed on the main stage of Bloodstock Open Air (UK). In 2019, LOVEBITES performed at the Download Festival in Donington (UK) and Download Festival in Madrid (Spain). Their performance in Donington was named by the festival organizers and Metal Hammer magazine as one of the highlights of the festival! In the same year they performed at the Graspop Metal Meeting (Belgium) and the Summer Sonic Festival (Japan). Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic that began in 2020 prevents LOVEBITES from performing at festivals and forced a drastic reduction of concerts.
LOVEBITES' third Studio Album "Electric Pentagram" (2020) was included by Metal Hammer (April 2020) in "Top 20 Metal Albums of 2020" list.

Good a thought ! 👍😂I signed up on RUclips as Серый Лис on March 1, 2020, and I first learned about LOVEBITES in October - November 2020. 8 - 9 months after registration. In the list of my favorite bands, LOVEBITES became #1 after about 2-3 months, after getting to know the first song. In total, about a year has passed since registration 🤗

By the way, Japanese wolves, which are considered extinct by the end of the 19th century, were small in size and similar to foxes. Nowadays in Japan they have become mythical guardian animals, white wolves. Hence the white dresses and other complex symbolism of Lovebites, which in Japan are called white wolves. They are representatives of an almost extinct musical genre and its guardians.

The guitarist who's dress you love, Miyako, you should see her play piano! She's a concert pianist.... check out their live performance of Swan Song (I think it's the same concert) with the "chopin intro"..... it's astounding all around... And you also should see their new bassist Fami (the original founding bassist/bandleader from this concert left the band a couple years ago, so they held an international open audition and chose Fami as their new bassist... who's a much more showy bassist who plays finger style and slap, and is only like 20 years old. The official Music Video for their newer song Judgement Day is AMAZING, features their new bassist, and shows what their other lead guitarist Midori spent her time doing during covid when they didn't have a bass player.... she became a competitive body builder.. and proudly plays guitar with a muscle pose in the video. Amazing amazing band!

Btw.: i also wasn't a fan of powermetal and only listened to symphonic metal since the late 90s, until i first heared them, and now they are absolute on top of the list of my favorite bands next to Nightwish, Within Temptation and Epica.

Lovebites is a lot more than just a power metal band. They have many thrash songs and some symphonic metal and some progressive metal songs too. They like to blend genres together which makes them quite unique. They also play traditional rock songs and a couple of ballads. Their new album features a lot of their best songs.

While I'd listened to them before they released this video, it was what made me fall in love with them.
Thanks for reacting to amazing Lovebites and spreading the word; they deserve more recognition. On many occasions first time reactors usually are left speechless, stunned and blown away. These women are extremely talented, skillful and versatile exceptional musicians. They really shine in their live performances. Their main influences are Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, Helloween, Angra, Judas Priest, Dragonforce, and even Gary Moore, but they have been developing their unique style. Some people say that they’re redefining metal. Miyako is also a concert-level classical pianist. Asami used to sing R&B, soul and jazz before she joined Lovebites. Those twin lead guitar solos by Midori and Miyako are already legendary, in just six years. Some of their songs are uplifting, with a motivational message.
Unfortunately Miho (bass) left the band in August, 2021, but a few months ago the band announced the new bass player, Fami; so now they’re ready to set the world on fire. In an interview, Miho (ex bassist) said that they wanted to play as heavy as men but keeping their femininity. My next suggestions are “Thunder vengeance”, “Break the wall”, “Set the world on fire”, “The awakening/Hammer of wrath”, “Above the Black Sea”, “Under the red sky”, “Scream for me”, “Shadowmaker”, “When destinies align”, “Raise some hell”, “Don’t bite the dust”, “Winds of Transylvania”; and for a different side of them: "Chopin Etude + Swan song”, “Empty daydream”, “Edge of the world”, “Epilogue”, “Glory to the world”, “Frozen serenade”, "Liar", "Spellbound". All live (please avoid Bloodstock because audio is not good, not their fault). BTW, their presentation at Wacken Open Air, Germany, 2018, was so successful. They toured Asia and Europe in 2018 and 2019. They toured the UK in 2019, supporting Dragonforce (they're good friends, by the way). Yes, they wear high heels during concerts that last about 2 hours, and also they look flawless and effortless.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics and is also getting involved in composing.
In mid-2021, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They went on hiatus while they searched for a new bassist, and during that time, two of them had babies, even as the band were writing and rehearsing their new album. They recently announced the new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist. The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. Every song on the album is a showcase of their incredible talent and songwriting capabilities. “Stand and Deliver” is a thrasher with a fun video of them in the studio. “Soldier Stands Solitarily”, the final song on the album, is being touted by some as the best thing they’ve done so far-I encourage you to see and decide for yourself!

LOVEBITES was formed in 2016 by Miho(Ba) and Haruna(Dr), members of the band "DESTROSE", which went on hiatus in 2015.
The girls made their major label debut in 2017 (March 24) with "THE LOVEBITES EP".
On 18 June 2018, LOVEBITES won 'BEST NEW BAND' at the Metal Hummer Golden Gods 2018 awards organised by the British metal magazine METAL HUMMER.
On 4 August, LOVEBITES performed on the W.E.T stage at WACKEN OPEN AIR 2018, one of the world's largest annual metal festivals in Germany, with the 10,000 capacity venue almost full.
"Bloodstack open air 2018(Aug. 10)" also participated.
On August 20,2018, LOVEBITES announced that it has partnered with X-ray Touring, one of the largest players in the UK booking agent industry.
LOVEBITES toured the Netherlands, Germany, France and UK from November 13-21, 2018.
Asami (Vo) of LOVEBITES appeared as a guest on stage at Halestorm "Download Japan 2019(March 21)", singing alongside "Lzzy" Hale on Halestorm's 'Love Bites', which gave the band their name.

They named the band after the Grammy winning Halestorm song Love Bites (So Do I). Lead singer , Asami, joined Lzzy and the boys at 2019 Download to perform that song.
Miyako and Midori on guitar, Miho on bass here, and Haruna on drums. Miho left in 2021, Fami joined to replace her in Oct 2022.
Some songs lean towards power metal, others lean towards thrash, and some ballads.

if you are a guitarist then you may have just found your favorite band. midori [blonde] and miyako [dark hair] are currently THE best guitar duo in the business and really need to be considered one of the best duos in metal and rock history. their live performances are now legendary and rank with the greatest of all time. the drummer haruna is easily in the top 10 drummers anywhere and she is tiny - 4 ft. 9 in. tall - and a powerhouse drum machine. vocalist asami will give you chills every time and the bassist here is miho - who left and the new bassist is fami. a slap specialist along with every style of bass playing you can think of. you're about to fall into a deep hole that will not want to climb out of anytime soon.

Bloody Lovebites 🐺 I love'em
Very good reaction. And it's always a pleasure to hear a true musician say that this particular track is pure Power Metal. You see, there's a certain guy in this community called SalSaucedo or something, who insists that Lovebites don't play power metal and also insults half of the fans who love live performances. And he says that this song is not power metal when the reality is that Holy War is the most pure power metal song of the band. In fact, many of us love Lovebites because it reminds us of the glorious days of Power and Thrash Metal in the 80s and 90s.
Sorry, but I have to clarify.
1. @Sal Saucedo states that LOVEBITES are not a power metal band, but a heavy metal band. And I agree with him. Because LOVEBITES play thrash, speed, progressive, power metal. In addition, they often mix different genres of metal. Also, some of their songs are closer to hard rock in structure and sound. Some songs have elements of symphonic metal. Therefore, they cannot be called a pure power metal band. Also, in various interviews the ladies call themselves a heavy metal band. Usually LOVEBITES is referred to as a power metal band by people who are not familiar enough with the band's discography.
2. As for live performances. Some people write in the comments under the reactions that LOVEBITES' live performances are better than their Studio Albums, EPs and Music Videos. And they give advices to give preference ONLY to live performances.Which is just as wrong. And Albums (EPs) and live performances of the band are of excellent quality. To say that Live is better than Albums is a mistake. @Sal Saucedo draws attention to this and criticizes these people. Such fans, without realizing it, damage the reputation of the band, as well as cause financial damage to it. Because people who are unfamiliar with the work of LOVEBITES, having read such "advice" from fans, begin to reason something like this: "Why would I buy Studio Albums and EPs? After all, in the comments they wrote that they are worse than live performances". And they will watch only live concerts on YT, without buying Albums and EPs. Not realizing that the LOVEBITES' Albums (CD or vinyl) on good equipment with good acoustics sounds great. In addition, they pass by those songs (great songs !) that are not in live performance (DVD), but which are only on EPs and Studio Albums! For example, "Dystopia Symphony", "The Final Collision" ,"Nameless Warrior", "Paranoia", "Puppet on Strings", "No Time to Hesitate", "Painkiller", ect.
Did you notice that 90% of the Reactors check NO MORE THAN 8 -10-12 LOVEBITES songs ? At best they limit themselves to 15-20 songs. Of the almost 60 songs that LOVEBITES have !!! Leaving a lot of the band's masterpieces unattended. Why? The answer is simple. Because some fans write that the live ones are better and persistently ADVISE only those songs that are performed live. It turns out that people who give such "advice", without realizing it, artificially "reduce" the catalog of songs recommended for verification by the Reactors (as well as their viewers, who are unfamiliar with the work of the band).
3. Facts:
- The Album "Judgement Day" was released. There are no videos of the band's LIVE performance with songs from this album yet, but all the fans are delighted with the Album. This means that the quality of the album is excellent (as well as all the previous releases of the band) !
- All LOVEBITES Audio Releases (EPs, Single, Albums, Compilation, Live Concerts) were mixed by Mikko Karmila and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios (Finland).
- 4 DVDs (Blue-rays) out of 6 ("Battle In The East", "Daughters of the Dawn", "Five of a Kind", "Heavy Metal Never Dies" ) also mixed by Mikko Karmila and mastered by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios.

Sal's heart is in the right place even if his approach isn't the best. He wants great things for Lovebites. We all do. I also believe that Lovebites is much more than a power metal band. They are a heavy metal band. But let's not attack each other over this. Lovebites does have some power metal songs and this is one of them.

All five live releases of Lovebites in the blu-ray version are among the best in quality in the music industry in the world today. But studio albums (LP and EP) are just as good. Moreover, the sound quality and richness of arrangements on studio releases are naturally higher than on concert releases. Musicians play better. The mix is better and the stage is better built.
Therefore, it makes no sense to talk about what is better - live versions or studio versions. You need to have both. And in no case be limited to listening and watching on RUclips. The quality of both sound and video is poor and can only satisfy those who have never heard how Lovebites magical sounds (and looks) in good quality. I can confidently say that the purchase of audio and video releases of Lovebites is one of the best investments in music products.

I´ve been a fan of metal music since the 80´s, I recently discovered LOVEBITES and I have to say that It had been a long time since I had been this excited about a band in many years. Not just for their flawless and spectacular technique but for the intense emotion they are able to convey, I´ve become a huge fan of hers, and I can´t stop listening to their music.
Very impressive live show, I'd see them if they came to town. I'm seeing another J-metal band this month called Band-Maid.
Band Maid are certainly a great band, but they definitely are not metal.
Well I just put on the song From Now On to check and it's definitely metal to my ear. But I'll leave you to your narrower definition.
@@MerelyPassingThrough I made the point that Band Maid are a hard rock band, not a metal band, and your counter was that they have one (instrumental) song that drifts into metal. I agree that "From Now On" is a metal tune, but as an instrumental, it really needs to be heavy and technical to maintain interest. But when you consider their entire catalogue, the vast majority of their songs fit much more naturally under the rock/pop rock/heavy rock genres rather than heavy metal.
The MV for Golden Destination has footage of them touring with Dragonforce. Herman Lee is in a white dress towards the end
Midori (blonde guitarist) is a fan of Angra, among others (Extreme, Megadeth, Animals as Leaders).
Can't offer you symphonic metal from them--they don't play that style--but it's not all in the same vein. They also play thrash, a bit of hard rock, classic metal à la Maiden, with their main style shaping up to be thrash-infused power metal. With their latest album and the EP before that, they have become very fast and heavy for a power metal band. But they still play other styles occasionally. Since you're from Cobra Spell (great band, btw, I really like you ladies' music), maybe you would dig a recent glam metal song that they have: My Orion. (Well, not as overtly glam as you guys, but musically it comes close to a late 80s glam style.) If you react to that, please react to the version from their album reveal live stream (hint: it's fun). There are symphonic elements in Glory to the World and Judgement Day.
@@ChadTheDragonLord GTTW has an orchestral intro, that's all. Judgement Day... well... it is way too fast for symphonic metal, and its guitar solos are too long for that style. I'd say any resemblances are incidental.
This is an excellent song, but they have switched bassists since. For the new bassist Judgement Day or Stand And Deliver; for the old bassist Swan Song (+ Chopin into) or Edge of the World.
Great choice they are a gifted band for sure what a treat 😊❤

You might want to try "The Awakening/Hammer of Wrath" from the same show. It's my personal favorite from them. It's more thrashy. Also, "Swan Song" with the Chopin intro. In that one you'll see how the piano you saw here is utilized.

Oii, Noelle!! Gostei do vídeo! Banda legal. Cá entre nós, brasileiros, os primeiros segundos ali, quando ela fala com o público parece que vai começar um show de axé em Salvador! Mas logo vem o power metal. O que pessoalmente gostei mais foi o riff do breakdown antes dos solos. Depois dos solos foi quando o vocal e a melodia remete bem mesmo o Angra!

Uma banda feminina do passado, que conheci ao comprar um LP no brechó por um real e gostei é a Phantom Blue. O debut delas de 1989 é bem legal, as duas guitarristas solando. Saiu até pela Shrapnel nos EUA, se não me engano uma foi aluna do Paul Gilbert, O Friedman trabalhou na produção do disco. Acho que vale a pena conferir, caso não tenha escutado ainda.

About the dresses. A French metal mag asked Lovebites about that and Asami (singer) said, "We're girls we don't want to dress like boys. Also, we are all small and it's easier to see us on stage."
And they ARE Small. Asami and Haruna (drummer) are both 4' 9". Midori (blond guitarist) is a little over 4' 10". Miho (bassist) is about the same size and Miyako (other guitarist) is the tallest at 5' 2".

As a metal guitarist yourself, I was hoping to get your perspective of their musicianship but instead you went on about their dress and high heels.
Lovebites were on tour with Dragonforce, so I like both. There's another band from Japan that I like more they are called Band-Maid they are a 5 piece Hard Rock band like your band. You should check out their Official Live Performance of their song Puzzle live at Tokyo Garden Theatre in January 9 2023. Then you can dive into their huge catalogue of 6 studio album
They are very petite ladies ands wear white so they can be seen on the dark metal stages. The light reflects off their white costumes.
"Set the World on Fire" is a good follow up to this.
