Thanks for watching!
To be honest Kylo did get shot, flattened, blasted before owning Finn and then getting finally force owned by Rey.
He's not such a noob as most think he is.
It took a Wookiee an ex-trooper and a force maniac using angry techniques to take him down.
+RyanRyzzo Agreed. He got tagged by a bowcaster, which was flinging stormtroopers around like ragdolls.
Also, keep in mind that Rey demonstrated that she was already pretty good in a fight when she easily took out two of Unkar Plutt's henchmen. Finn was trained from nearly birth as a soldier. These aren't a couple of complete scrubs.
+RyanRyzzo Stop using logical analysis of the movie. This is the Internet. You have to be melodramatic in your negative opinion, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS POPULAR!
+RyanRyzzo I agree. If anyone else got shot by that bowcaster, they'd have been blown across the room.
+RyanRyzzo The thing is that the storm trooper managed to injure him, that battle should have taken maybe 10s (see Star Wars II)
+RyanRyzzo Seeing as he trained under Luke and then Snoke. It's pretty fucking embarrassing.
I would love to see all of Adams StarWars props.
Playing a drinking game where you take a drink everytime Norm looks somebody in the eyes. Glass is still full.
+Duhya he looked will in the eyes when will called kylos helmet asian lol
+Duhya "The autism is strong in this young padawan"
Assholes
Bridget May its the truth bridget
zum it is annoying and he should work on it but u dont have to bring autism into it
This is the one complaint that I have from people who love this film. You cannot dismiss massive plot holes, by simply saying "Oh I'm sure they'll explain all that in the next film." It doesn't work that way. A good film, especially the first of a trilogy, needs to be able to stand on it's own, without the need for sequels to explain everything.
I thought the Storm Trooper officer insignias were so badass. And I liked how the blasters had recoil. You could actually feel when they hit.
Norm, nice job keeping the podcast flowing. You really did a great job providing practical discussion points and insights. Thumbs up sir!
I'm starting to come to the conclusion that Norm, might be, in fact, a bit of a genius.
+phrayzar agreed
+phrayzar Norm are so obnoxious and full of **.
+phrayzar I just want Will to stfu. He cuts Norm off so much.
+norfy yea he doesnt seem to he very patient with him
Adam Driver taking off his helmet was a bad choice. The reveal took away any sense of him being a scary character to being just a clown.
+cupnoodleful Well everyone didn't want Darth Vader 2.0, Kylos ability to emote with his face is quite important.
+Dicio That emotion only comes across as bad acting and a poor choice in hiring by the casting director.
+cupnoodleful Not in any offending way, but you completely misunderstood Kylo Ren's character and role.
He is not supposed to be Darth Vader or to stay scary in the same way as Vader did.
He is supposed to lose his scariness and become a pitiful character. He is someone so lost in the dark side and confused with rage that he killed his father and is not even sure if he did something wrong.
None of the new characters are supposed to be a new Vader, Luke or Han, they are characters on similar paths but ultimately completely different.
And I am sorry that your own expectations have clouded your impression of what Kylo Ren is, his acting is in fact on point and one of the best in the movie, if not the entire franchise.
+GuyWithAnAmazingHat Nobody said they were supposed to be 2.0 versions of any of the original characters. I went in with 0 expectation since I chose not to be spoiled. The film has flaws like Kylo's chracter and acting should be pointed out. Take a classical and modern film class and reevaluate the movie.
cupnoodleful Lucky for me, as an animator I was trained in both film theory and took acting classes.
Too bad for you though, for you couldn't see why so many people enjoyed Adam Driver's performance and his character, it's really your loss.
I immensely enjoy watching Adam work but I love how Norm speaks and conveys ideas so clearly. Also he's the perfect host for Tested during segments about Adam's work. He understands all there is to appreciate about the way Adam works.
If you ask me...the fact that it has a 94 on Rotten Tomatoes is ridiculous. Absolutely bonkers. Should be a 50 at most
+Dax Araya That's fucking crazy. maybe not the 94, but a 80 at least
Awkwardly Accented Vlogger See I didnt really enjoy it or got much in to it when I saw it twice in Imax. I didnt feel like there was any emotion or anything to really hook you in to the universe and the story like the originals. Really the way the movie made me feel was the same feeling I had when watching some half-assed action movie like one of the Taken movies or something
+Dax Araya The thing is, 94% on Rotten Tomatoes means that 94% of critics think that it was at least a B+ movie, not that it's a 94 out of 100 (100 being perfect) movie.
Well really it's not. There's not one single person who decides the score. Hundreds of professional critics from all over the world decide it. Meaning that it's generally considered a very good movie. It's your opinion that it should be a 50%. And frankly you're the ridiculous one if you think the movie was shit. Also keep in mind that the movie has just as good ratings on metacritic and IMDB.
+Dax Araya Don't feed the troll
Fantastic episode! Thanks for doing this, gents.
The Force Awakens was nothing but a remake of A New hope. This was a total insult from Disney; I can't believe more people aren't upset about this.
Ok
+Chris Lecnik lol
+shawnsdada
I was thinking about this.and the difference in cannon history . because until resently .all we had was 3 movies .so much star wars story was comics and novels for so long. movies are more snap shots.home movies as it were to go with the full stories in print. and this wasn't on purpose either .it happened because of Lucas and the studio compilations in the past. we now have different star wars universes . I like the del ray universe.has a little more flesh to it. so I am waiting for del ray and their writers to fill in the holes . if Disney let's them only time will tell.though I think they will. and it will be better planned than before .
44:45 "...it's like working at HuffPo!"
SHOTS FIRED!
In retrospect, I have to say Abrams did a masterful job. It may not have been the movie everyone "wanted," it was the one all Star Wars fans NEEDED. He did a great job bridging the 30 year gap, and set up a MUCH easier job for upcoming movies in the Trilogy. I think of it as passing down the Star Wars universe to a new generation and successfully so.
Not at all IMO. How else could J.J. tell the Star Wars story to a new generation of viewers, keep the die hard fans interested , and set up the sequels so well. Right up there with IV and V IMO.
I honestly loved that the movie "rehashed" (as some call it) things from the old movies. I didn't care that it basically had the same plot while I was watching it. It's been 30 years since episode 6 was released, people need to feel at home again in a world that's decades old. Reintroducing the universe of Star Wars by giving people the familiar plot and imagery of the old movies was the best way to go in my opinion. On top of making me smile every time a cameo or reference was made, it let me focus on the new characters that were introduced. The Force Awakens honestly felt like coming home, and even with its mishaps and "meh" scenes, it was worth my time and I don't regret going back to the theater to watch it again.
The stabbing motion of Rey's lightsaber technique is directly how the Emperor handled his lightsaber. She's not a Skywalker.
This spoilercast had me smiling the entire time. Not only is it filled with great conversation but it just lead me back to my time watching Star Wars. It was truly a fantastic movie in so many regards.
***SPOILER BELOW***
My only major issue with the movie was Captain Phasma. An elite top tier soldier in a militarist, imperial regime of nationalism, giving up the shield codes that jeopardized and later fell the entire planet. I expect a better code of honour from someone with her history and honour, regardless of circumstance. Otherwise, I loved her character and want to see more of her!
Something I've heard few people mention, but that I find to be one of the most important and unique features of this film within the franchise is the humanization of the bad guy's "feet on the ground."
Stormtroopers in this film are completely humanized. This is the first time in the franchise that enemy ground troops have had any real consequence. Until now we've had faceless clones and droids. Enough distance to remove our empathy. Just there to give our heroes something to shoot at. In this film, from the start we see a bloody hand through a Stormtroopers armor, we see Finn caring about his fallen comrade. We see Finn's face. We see Stormtroopers expressing personality ("TRAITOR" guy, and even in the moment when the two Stormtroopers round the corner on Kylo Ren's tantrum). We learn that, Finn at least and it's safe to assume many others, perhaps even the majority of them, were abducted as children and conditioned to be soldiers.
I really hope the following films remain accountable and resolve this. It would be interesting ground for Star Wars to cover.
There are flashbacks, Rey's flashback vision counts!
Graeme Evans Rey has flashbacks of the Jedi Academy and Luke leaving her on Jakku
+Darth Daddy we don't know if it is like yet, we just assume which he is most likely
+Squadron266 I am your father's, brother's, nephew's, cousin's, former room-mate...
+Squadron266 I bet there will be a plot twist about Rey's identity in Episode VIII. It happened in Empire Strikes Back, most people did not expect Darth Vader to be Anakin Skywalker cuz Obi Wan told Luke that his father Anakin Skywalker was killed by Darth Vader. There is a reason why TFA forces you to think that Rey is Luke's daughter. I thought that Rey is Luke's daughter like most people when I first watched TFA. But after watching the movie 3 times, there are a lot of things that do not make any sense if Rey is Luke's daughter.
***** I said flashback.
So glad I stumbled onto this podcast on RUclips last week, I've been really enjoying all of the ones I've listened to/watched. Adam is about 5 years older than me, so I'm old school Star Wars and "feel" it like he does. I know this is really more an audio podcast that video taped, but if I have one criticism, I wish Norm would lower his mic so we can see more of his face when he speaks.
Is there a reason why these podcasts can't be an hour long? I'm sure nobody will mind plus you guys seem like have lots more to talk about! :)
I'm not sure if you've ever dealt with HD video, but it takes a huge amount of storage. for an hour long podcast, it'd take a few different memory cards and need to be put together.
+Samebito Funny how other shows seem to manage shows that are an hour or even two or three.
There certainly are, but they tend to do so by recording directly to larger systems- rather than "on location" type recording like this.
It's amazing what kinds of differences you can have by recording from camera to hdd (or ssd) rather than to smaller format memory.
Is it even possible to connect an external hard drive to my DSLR?
I'm so glad to see Will is still part of "Still Untitled". :)
Im just really glad Darth Jar Jar got mentioned. I JUST WANT TO BELIEVE.
Norm FTW. What a great job of dictating the pace by bringing up the various topics of conversation. You're really growing into an awesome presenter and it's evident you're getting more comfortable in front of the camera. You've got a life long fan here, my friend. Thanks for the upload!
1st spoken line in the movie " This will begin to make things right ". Thankyou JJ for that line and this movie.
The cinematography felt strangely claustrophobic to me. The scenes felt like the focus point was really tight in every shot.
It felt more like a series of dioramas, rather than wide open sweeping scenery.
Adam’s interpretation of Rey’s interrogation by Kylo Renn was spot on. The shift in power, her fear turning to confidence and Kylo’s confidence turning to fear, was so well put.
One thing to add about the Tie Fighters, there were two types in the movie. One was a standard version very similar to the original trilogy. The other one is a “Special Forces” version which is the type that Finn and Poe stole. The main visual difference is the red on one side of the exterior hull.
On a closing note, I’ve seen TFA three times and listening to you guys talk about it makes me want to see it at least once more on IMAX.
As a huge SW fan this movie was too safe, IT held all of our hands and didn't give us anything we didn't expect. It took me 30 minutes and a beer to start disliking lots of things about this film.
Daniel Craig's Stormtrooper's name was JB-007.
I heard they`re already filming Star Wars 8. I saw Star Wars The Force Awakens yesterday (12/28/2015) I loved it I saw nothing to hate.
+Tom Quimby Rouge One comes out next year too. A new star wars movie every year till 2021.
+Tom _F1_ I thought that they were only making 2 more after the force awakens
+Jankoney They (Rogue One and one more) are spin-offs to be released in-between the episodic movies.
The other spin-off is rumoured to be a Han Solo origin story.
+Jankoney 2 more of the trilogy, but they're are spinoffs between them
+Findecanor and the other to be a bobafett movie to be rumoured
I'm glad you guys did do a spoiler cast for Star Wars. When I listened to last week's episode on the way to the theater, I was bummed that you might not get around to it.
I'm in my 40's and ep7 seemed to give back to original fans around the same age that Star Wars feel,it was awesome.
Who here wanted Han to call out Kylo on the bridge by yelling "Jr!"
I'm an old bastard, been with Star Wars since '77. Gotta say, I loved the new movie! Much better than any of the prequels.
Can totally relate to Adam getting weepy... I got all misty-eyed when I saw Ray take the light-saber from Kylo.
I don't know how to hide my spoilers so I'm sorry. But one thing you guys didn't touch on that I found off was why did chewy walk past leiA after coming back from the attack on the star destroyer? Wouldn't you think. She would hug him first?
Maz's impending explanation of acquiring Luke's light saber would be the most appropriate opportunity to reintroduce Billy Dee back into the Star Wars universe! I hope they bring back Lando in future installments!
I remember reading an idea about Midichlorians, that they're more like our gut bacteria than anything else- You get them from the environment, and they're not the _cause_ of Force Sensitivity, but a _result_ of it- they tend to do better in people with higher Force sensitivity, so if you detect elevated levels in someone, that person's probably Force sensitive. An inversion of causality.
I have been told that Rey's stabbing with the lightsaber is actually a staff technique - which connects back to Rey having used a staff to protect herself back on Jakku.
I am so glad I got to watch the movie. It means I can listen to all the commentary from the Tested crew!
Most sane conversation I've heard on the movie. Too many Arm Chair Directors and Writers out there. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next one. My preteen son, who had no expectations, absolutely loved it.
Norm, Phasma is the new buildup-quick-death villain Boba Fett
Next movie will be Rey, Kylo, and Fin getting trained. At the end of the movie, Rey whoops Kylo's ass and he somehow switches sides and Luke probably dies. Third movie will be Kylo, Rey, Fin, and Poe all working together with the resistance to take down Snoke. Snoke will be bigger than a human, but not a fucking giant like his projection in the first movie. He will be an extremely powerful sith lord that survived the earlier wars.
FINALLY I've seen something before your spoiler cast!
Hell, I got choked up during the opening crawl. Makes no effin' sense...but there it is.
Rey's stabbing motion with the lightsaber reminded me of Darth Sidious. He got pretty stabby when he killed the first couple Jedi before fighting Mace Windu.
Small bit but I liked the Jurassic Park throw backs with the monsters in the salvage ship. Rathtars... Raptors... "you're transporting Rathtars!?"
I love Adams reaction to the word "Midichlorians". "...I will punch you in the face."
Visually the movie looked excellent, but don't let that cloud how not so good so many other things were.
Why no mention of the fact that Chewie and Leia just nonchalantly stroll by each other towards the end?
lets make a custom one day build podcast table with all the bells and whistles hidden wires, cup holders hidden mini drawers, clear some clutter and make room so you can have many an iPad for pre discussion notes or internet accessibility.
I'm so sick of hearing criticism of The Force Awakens re-treading A New Hope. With all the baggage the prequels heaped on the Star Wars franchise. it was pretty necessary to give audiences a palate-cleanser to get the franchise moving forward. Let it go, people.
+Brian Schmitt That's what I thought as well. Not/won't be the best Star Wars ever but is an enjoyable set up for the next films.
+bentinho For me, this movie is right up there with A New Hope and Empire, and is league's better than RotJ, which I don't think was much better than the horrible prequels.
+Brian Schmitt That does not make sense. Yes, the movie needed to be the "anti-prequel", but the movie could have been a palate-cleanser _and_ have a more original story.
+Findecanor I completely understand why there was a conscious decision to return Star Wars fans to familiar themes and settings. You wanted a brand new story, and I'm not saying you're wrong in wanting that. It was pretty clear to me that The Force Awakens was doing a similar story arc and was thematically resonant with A New Hope for a long time. It was clear from the countless teasers and trailers, and I am 100% ok with that. Now that we have our collective bearings, I do hope the next episodes are more original. If we see yet another Death Star iteration, there will be understandable reasons to be annoyed.
+Brian Schmitt Personally I am super glad that Force Awakens and A New Hope are so similar. I was avoiding any trailers and promo images until I could go and see it in theaters because I wanted to keep my expectations low. My only requirements for this movie was stay faithful, familiar and set things up for change. This film shouldn't have been the rapid earthquake some people have complained about. A retelling of the original was exactly the way to start things off.
Hah. Adam laying the smack down on Will when he tried to bring the Jar Jar Sith theory up. Beauty.
I think in the official Star Wars lore, the reason Kylo Ren's lightsaber crackles is because the gem used to power the saber is cracked, meant to reflect his unstable personality.
Hopefully you guys also doing a Jessica Jones spoilercast you guys mentioned :)
I thought that Rey was a former Jedi padiwan that was put on Jakkoo by Luke to protect her.
During her fight with Kylo Wren when he says about her training it is almost like something clicks in her head and she remembers her previous training.
New theory: Will 'Accidentally' fell off a cliff shortly after this recording due to discovering Norm's side career supplementing his income with bald eagle poaching (As exposed by Norm's Expert Bald eagle mating call in the latest Lego Mystery build that mysteriously disappeared) I propose that Norm and Will recorded it before Joey's arrival at the studio, which off camera evolved from a Kerfuffle into a proper amount of fisticuffs. When Joey then arrived to find the studio empty (Because Norm had gone to the woods to dispose of the body where he buries the Eagle carcasses after he has collected the ears.) he then continued to film his Favorite things segment as scheduled alone on a tripod.
There was actually a part in the novel that said Hyperspace was a time of reflection and peace for a soldier.
BB8 was voiced by Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz using an app with JJ.
"There was like 20% too many callbacks in this"
Oh the good old days of being slightly disappointed in The Force Awakens. Good times.
When Poe is making fun of Kylo Ren's voice "apparatus" it reminded me of Princess Ann-Droid from Hardware Wars. "I can't understand what you're saying. Are you talking to ME?" Also, the troopers backing away from Kylo's tantrum -- the reality of serving under someone like that -- something Lucas would have never shown. Vader seems completely tame and reasonable by comparison.
I cringe every time Adam says Return of the Jedi is bad...
+treebeard I cringe when they call the AT-ATs At ats.
+treebeard I cringe every time they say ATAT, but still say artoo-deetoo...
+treebeard He's correct. It's not much better than the prequels.
+Brian Schmitt Everyone has their own opinions.
+treebeard Yes. And mine is the correct one. ;)
BB8 gives a thumbs up? No... He gives Finn the finger...
So one theory I didn't see mentioned and the one I felt was fairly strong upon watching it is that Rey might be the daughter/granddaughter of Palpatine. It would fit nicely with the known facts and would explain neatly many of the current unknowns. I could easily see any descendants be hidden away after the rebel coup of Return of the Jedi.
I wonder why Larry Kasdan wasn't hired for the prequels?
+DJ Wrekk Because Lucus thought he write and his script was like poetry (Since it rhymes).
I was ok with the fact that they went with a Death Star for a third time because it came with such a wonderful cinematic device: As it gets closer to firing it drains the nearby sun, so the environment gets darker and darker as the stakes are raised culminating in pure darkness around the time that Ren kills Han. Lovely idea.
Supreme Leader Snoke is Darth Plaguois mentioned by Emperor Palpatine in Return of the Sith. Palpatine says that he could control the force to bring people back from death. Palpatine says he killed him in his sleep, but what if he only thought he did. Snoke has all those scars from Palpatine and Snoke used the force to revive himself. Snoke is definitely a sith lord because otherwise how would he train Kylo.
I'm really liking the theory that Jar Jar Binks is the master Dark Lord. I saw George Lucas saying how Jar Jar was the key to the whole thing. Darth Vader had a master, why not Palpatine too? And who better than Jar Jar? The Gungans were terrified of him, he did a Force jump into the water, and in battle he "accidentally" wiped out whole armies.
+robotguy Lucas said Jar Jar was the key to the whole thing back in 1998 when he was still working on Episode 1, before it was released and got such a negative backlash
Uncle Fester Yeah, I think the backlash at Episode 1 was the reason Lucas didn't follow through. If he had, it would have made the prequels much better movies.
robotguy How the hell would MORE Jar Jar Binks have made them better movies?
Uncle Fester if it turned out that he was the puppeteer behind the Emperor, then we could have seen him decapitated with a light saber.
Ray is a Skywalker. The piloting ability, strong force abilities, and strong mechanical aptitude. All go back to back to Anakin and Luke. Ray is Luke's daughter.
One of the big reasons I'm looking forward to VR is imax simulations for movies. Being able to relive that big screen experience at home. The resolution wont be great for the first couple years but it will get there eventually. The Force Awakens is one of those movies that really shines on the big screen.
Every time I hear someone talking about Finn part of me is always expecting to hear "and Jake" immediately after his name.
And about Phasma: she's Boba Fett 2.0. Looks cool, sells toys, says/does next to nothing, goes out like a punk.
In the film they mention how Luke was starting to train a new form of Jedi, but then Ben (Kylo Ren) betrayed him. Perhaps Rey was a child who was known about in Luke's new Jedi Academy, but was either too young to train or maybe was in training. Rey mentions quickly that she was a special child brought to Jakku and her family would return for her. What if Kylo Ren tried to kill or convert all the Jedi and Rey is a refugee and just doesn't remember what had happened due to age, psychological trauma, or injury. Something along those lines.
there is a flashback in VII. During a Rey sequence when she thinks about a flashback to her childhood when she is left on Jakku
Norm's Star Wars knowledge is impressive, most impressive.
Saw both 3D and 2D. The only scene that made 3D interesting to me was the Star Destroyer. Otherwise, 3D disappointed me because all the backgrounds were blurry. Especially the bar scene, where all the cool aliens were blurry in the 3D version as Han and crew move through. So, I am a strong 2D fan. Now perhaps Imax fixes the blurry, but I don't live near an Imax.
FYI the double for Peter Mayhew is Joonas Suotamo, who is a Finnish Basketball player.
I don't think Rey is a clone, because remember when she saw the lightsaber, she was remembering her past that she had blocked out. And it included her being a child being trained by Luke. She saw Luke with R2D2 and then Ren comes in and kills them all. Again reminiscent of his grandfather who also killed all the children in training. Remember Luke was away training children to be Jedi when he disappeared. By the way, Hamill wearing a beard as older Luke, completely the right decision!
That beginning.... Thanks for not giving us too much C3PO. Hahahahahaha!
I would've designed the Star Sucker with a second, oscillator-thingy for redundancy. Especially after what happened to both Death Stars. When that weak spot was described in the movie I was thinking, "are you kidding me?"
She's obi wan's granddaughter ... She was left behind when a conflict happened between Luke & his students
+Zaki El Horan I don't like the idea that he was a giant hypocrite, but then I don't like all the stuff in the prequels about them not being able to love. Oh, no I could have just said I don't like all the stuff in the prequels.
+opsin We get it. You hate everything about the prequels and desperately need more people to agree, in spite of already being a majority. You adopted someone else's opinion or can't stop your childhood nostalgia from impairing your judgement on movies. Congrats
I feel like the asian guy dont like the joey guy. He really dont like looking at his side but he keeps looking at adams side almost everytime adam speaks
anyone else think of blood bending when the force was used to hold people.
I loved TFA, it brought back all the right emotions for a Star Wars movie. You need to see this movie more than once to experience it fully, and to understand why some characters act the way they do. This is clearly a movie that was made for a new generation of Star Wars fans (see similarities between ANH and TFA), BUT at the same time it's that much entertaining that older Star Wars fans will enjoy it as much as the younger generations. Kudos to Daisy Ridley, she nailed it! And BB-8, what can I say, she/he is a true Star Wars character.
I was expecting a longer than normal spoilercast though. 50min is just too short. ;-)
i'm liking the theory of luke clones being Ray's origin. My theories are more drawn to the Dark side where Snoke is actually Darth Plagueis (the sith lord who taught Palpatine). Expanding on that, for those who remember the scene in episode 3, where Palpatine is talking to Anakin about Darth Plagueis' ability of influencing midi-chlorians to create life, and that Anakin was believed to be the product of immaculate conception. I believe this was a subtle hint at Anakin's birth, and that Darth Plagueis was in this case Anakin's "Force-Father" and has been scheming his way back into power after Palpatine thought he killed him.
*SPOILERY SPECULATION*
Rey's parents were probably acolytes at Luke's temple. After the slaughter, Ren finds Rey (a child at this point) and can't bring himself to kill her (paralleling in one of the many ways in which he doesn't measure up to his grandfather despite trying). To hide this weakness he takes her and drops her off on Jakku with Unkar (the junk dealer, who is audible and whose hand you can see in the Force vision).
Maybe some of the most important questions are: Who is/was Ray waiting for Jakku and how did Maz know they won't ever come back?
it's so hard to ignore the extended universe and the lore that was created. I'm sitting here like NO IT'S HIS SISTER.then I remember...
Disney may have dropped a spoiler with the Star Wars Infinity game play video, it is said that in a battle between Kylo and Rey that Kylo calls out "Fight me cousin" to Rey.
+Barry Carnell Others people heard "Fight me! Curses".
+Findecanor Possible, guess we will have to see
I was sooooo waiting for this spolercast! Great to see you loved the movie as well :D
Norm is such a Cpt. Killjoy sometimes
We have an Alamo here in Denver and its an EXCELLENT way to watch a movie.
Waiting for the influx of contrarians in the comment section.
+TheFlyingPineapple As i wasn't first I will retract my comment yet leave you with an underhanded stab indicating that your views are typical of a worldview opposing mine. Also: religion.
+TheFlyingPineapple nope
Caitlyn Jenner is a beautiful, Stunning woman and if you was to say anything otherwise I'm ready to fuckkn throw down!!!!!
+Steve Allen You, sir, are a troll, haha.
I love how people are so obsessed with the idea of Rey having Jedi parents. If Snoke is Darth Plagueis, Rey could just be like Anakin Skywalker who was born out of the Force.
It's interesting how Rey's stabbing lightsaber style is somewhat reminiscent of that of Emperor Palpatine ...
This may be one of the few channels on youtube where I like to read the comments, no one offends authors and commenters, and I fuc%$ng love it :) the best part of youtube and the best channel
I also lament the loss of the original theatrical versions of Star Wars, ESB and ROTJ. It still pains me that my own kids have grown up watching the "tampered" editions as that was all that was available in a HD Quality format.
UNTIL NOW!!!
I've now discovered the "Harmy De-specialized Editions" where the genius has taken the un-tampered, theatrical releases and made these available in full HD Quality. The legality and availability of these is questionable, but being able to see the films as I knew them as a child, without having to buy a VHS player... that has made my year!
Another speculation is that Rey is Luke's Daughter and the real question is who the Mom is. Maybe Captain Phasma is the Mom and Rey was hidden at a young age from her true parents esp. (like Luke was) because of the rise of the First Order and Snoke. There are many hints in Ep VII that Luke is Rey's Dad; and that, other characters in the film know someone like Rey has been hidden, although they know little about her.
See how Han looks at Rey when she says "I never know there was so much green in the universe"
The Hug between Gen Leia and Rey upon returning after Solo is killed (maybe Leia knew Rey was a Skywalker but kept it secret from everyone) and she does say "May the Force be with you" to Rey which indicates she knows Rey to be particularly force sensitive and "fits the bill of the young girl they sheltered on Jakku"
Note how Kylo Ren gets angry "They had help from Finn and A GIRL" Kylo Ren : *Force draw 'Choke" WHAT GIRL!
Conversation with Maz about lightsaber calling to Rey and that the family is not coming back to Jakku but what she seeks is somewhere else.
Just some thoughts, but I hope they establish EARLY in Ep VIII who Rey's Dad is and maybe get an explanation as to who the Mom is (Phasma?) Then get into some training sequences and more dynamics about Ren-Snoke-First Order vs. Rey-Finn-Poe-Lei's Resistance forces while developing these other characters within the action the way Ep VI did.
The entire ending required Captain Phasma to comply with their orders to lower the shields. If she refused she'd be killed. But she did and it's implied that she was killed anyway.
