High wealth actually don't increase your population all that much. Maxis/EA have, in my opinion made this a flaw. They do look the nicest though, but if population is your main aim, then only build low wealth and medium wealth buildings. Education is the most important thing. Don't bother placing anything other than community colleges, community colleges hold more students and can be upgradable. They also keep the roads clear, because sims will drive themselves there, instead of getting on a bus which slows traffic. Keep your education high and you won't need to max out any of your services (Police, Fire, Healthcare). Another tip with regards to fire stations, once your city becomes denser and traffic becomes a problem, build the large fire station. Demolish the fire truck and add the helicopters. You won't ever have fire problems again! Be careful maxing out police stations. If you do you may notice that you will have no crimes committed, but you will have a large number of criminals. This is because a criminal needs an opportunity to commit a crime. A sim will commit a crime, get caught and become rehabilitated and is no longer a criminal. If the have no opportunity to commit a crime, because of a high police presence they will just go back to their home and try again the next day. They will never be rehabilitated. So in an odd way, don't have to many police! To give you an idea with 3 community colleges, I had 5 green hats filled for education. 100% education. I had the small police station with no added police cars, no added jail cells, I had a large fire station with 2 helicopters and I had one small clinic with one extra rooms plopped. I had a population of 450,000. That's it, eduction makes the greatest difference and prevents you from needing to spend loads on services. This is a good tutorial, but I just though a few more tips would help an other city builders out there!
Wow... thanks man!
yes in devreases because there are many homeless
Wow, this was very helpful and informative... Thanks Man! I give you, 100x ALT+W for that... :)
He's wrong on many points and Im bothering to reply because you posted less then a month ago!
Let's start with the more important! Education!
1. His numbers are complete rubbish! 3 community college cannot handle 10 000 students.. College 500 per class and some have 2-3 classes a day... Max citizens per college is roughly 1500 per day and you just never see that because some students were there for more then 1 class.. 3 colleges = max 4500 students and we already established thats not likely to happen. Also, not even close even with extensions because of #2.
2. If too far or too much traffic, the sims wont even go to that college.
3. Yeah, you have up to 500 sims per class on college but THEY ALMOST ALL DRIVE to school... (Happy traffic vs a few school bus! More on bus later...)
4. His service would cost even less if he also added a University. The 5 green hats are misleading! It refer to the ratio of educated sims and not their level of education!
College students and college graduate always had a car because they needed it... They will not favor other form of transport and become traffic centric workers. Uni students may vary but are prone to start walking more and citizens that never needed a car will simply NOT HAVE ONE! They will force themselves to use a properly built transportation system. (Which in no way imply to traffic jam yourself with too many bus!
5. Look where there are no students and not enrolled students! That is the only places you want to have bus stop! Plop bus stop both side! The green covering is misleading! It only say "Kids will go up to there to find a LEGIT place to cross the street!"
6. Once you seen a real low wealth medium density omegaco city with that bring in 350k+ per hour in omegaco profit, you will see the change in a much more obvious manner between 5 green hats : college, college + uni and high school + college + Uni! (omegaco is filthy, nasty, dangerous, addictive...)
5 hats results in a omegaco city:
(Produce the most sick and injured of all cities!)
College only (5-8) = need 3-4 hospitals, with total +-2 hospital full (350 each) and 1-2 roaming at around 150-250
(Total average citizen in hospital: 1000+)
College(4-7) + Uni(1) = 2-3 hospitals, with 1 being full and the other 2 150+
(Total average citizen in hospital: 600+)
High school (1), college (4-7), Uni(1) = 1-2 hospital, with rarely 1 full.
(Total average citizen in hospital: 400+)
Best Setup:
High school (1-2), college (4-7), Uni(1) with SCHOOL OF MEDICINE = 1 hospital.
(Total average citizen in hospital: 35-75)
Yeah, proper education system is epic!
Remember that the Omegaco is nasty in pollution and injured! In a normal city the hospital has a lot less stress! A omegaco city like I do can easily KILL 1800+ citizens a day without a schooling system!
Wealth level:
It is not a flaw... Rich sims pay to have more space! Same as real life... They dont like high taxes because they already pay more then others just because they are rich and complain easily over anything!
Lets go see Bill Gate and tell him he's a design flaw and should move in a an 3 1/2 appartement cramped up in a building of 400 ppl because he's obviously bugged to live in a house of 6 100 m². In 2009, property taxes were reported to be US $1.063 million.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Gates%27s_house
Yeah, its kind of sickening with world hunger... But its not a game flaw or bug. Sim city is a lot more accurate then people would like to admit...
High Wealth ---> tax per sim
High Wealth ---> high complaints
Low wealth ----> Sim per square
Low wealth ----> low complaints
Trance Kuja holy crap you blew my mind
0:40 '...obviously when ever you start your game...you need to build a whole bunch of stuff...'?!
Great tutorial man! Very well thought out??!!
higher wealthier Sims lower your population massively ! this is great if you don't want to much havoc on your public services, fire police hospital etc. but you will end up with worker shortages. to get density, upgrade your roads and use the guide tools to build roads not too far or too small away and stick residential in between. attract more Sims via culture etc or more industrial work, this will in turn create density increasing population.
More please, this is awesome. We definitely can benefit from a series of of follow ups. Great job! February 12, 2023
Nice video, helped me a lot, especially the understanding of parks.
I love how you built the city or town symmetrical
my tip is extend the main starting connection just a hair(an avenue,so you don't get a choke-point from un-upgradeable roads later),then zone the city with the cheapest dirt roads. Before I plop a major services building, or something that I want to keep, I make sure that the dirt road is deleted, then replopped as an avenue (upgradable for trams later & replop bus stops).
As density increases and the dirt roads are all replaced, then upgrade to tram avenues as needs be. Avoid too many junctions
very good discussion. Would have liked to see some more mouse-overs of the wealth and density indicators for individual buildings. But I think I finally understand wealth vs. happiness and how to affect them (land value / services vs. shopping / entertainment).
Very great tutorial. Never thought those data panel are so useful.
I see so wealth is determined by land value and density is determined by things like shop, street or such.
Thanks man, I learn that in simcity wealth hierarchy still works lol
at 13:16 "and when they are happy, they ugh... SHOOT UP..., they get BIGGER..." omg staaahp
Thank you for this. i been playing this game for a while and I'm still learning and I found your video to be most helpful. Question i have is some of the industries that are created have freight do you need to build a Trade Depot for the freight to ship from your city? Aslo when you build the more advance Firehouse, Hospital Police stations etc, do you still keep the the clinics and firehouses or do you close them? Thanks again
what happens if u dont have low residential areas, like u only have high and medium residential areas??
Nice video for this one!
Are there more coming up?
Would be great! :)
Big thanks!
i seem to have a problem where when i put down my high wealth parks it does not spread the and value as far at it did on yours, could you also make a tutrial on the city layout as well
You're putting down the smaller parks. Go for the ones that cost more per hour or have a larger circle when you place them.
Can u dowload this on the microspft store or not?
Still the land is kinda a lil small . Let's hope that simcity 6 comes up with bigger one and be able to expand like City Skyline
+Zio Daklas you can have up to 16 cities on one map tho... where as skyline gives you one city that expands, with this you can have 16 cities, i think in a way it adds up to the same or more.
The video was awesome but i still have an issue with increasing density in low wealth building medium & High wealth building expand fast were as I need low wealth works how do you pack more low wealth workers in ? it just seems the low buildings density does not change ?
give them parks, bus stops, school bus stops, church, etc, things that make them happy will give the results you want.
I just realized, when he started, he had 5000+ Sims at 4:36.
But when the building got better, there's only 1000+ Sims at 23:00
and also i want to ask, i have a city that's massive, most of it is skyscrapers at the highest stage. but i only have 160,000 Sims but also i have 10,000,000+ simoleons.
I know why there is only that many though, but ill tell my problem further on.
There's only 160,000 because i've got less industry to give freight to the shops, and then less happiness. and i have less industry because i have more special buildings like ore mines and i have a lot so there's no space for the industry.
But when i make space for the industry, i lose workers.
But if i get rid of my special buildings and put industry down, i lose money rapidly.
So Finally, my question is: How do i resolve my my issue to have equal money AND population balance?
BTW, thumbs up for the video :)
***** thanks :)
HACKS!!!!!
and also can you make a more step by step tutorial on how to make this city
Like the advice.. was having issue's with my first City.
Can someone help me with commuting students. I have a university that isn't getting any regional students and that's the whole reason I built it! Not to mention my industry buildings are not sending their freight out to the city next door. Are these normal bugs?
WOW! Dezoning is a cleaver idea. Nice.
I was wondering why you de zoned the residential areas halfway through the video?
Also, would you recommend buying this game now or waiting for them to patch some of the issues?
Good job, Nice Basic toturial!
Nice helpful video. Thanks for posting this!
Looks like it should help. Just had my first game where everything just crashed and burned. Brutally.
How tf is this map so big? They are usually 2/3’s the size of that or smaller
This enables me to get the whole infrastructure in place before the population spikes causing all the problems
Pride is like a geography teacher, for a video game.
I can get all of that fast but when I get up to 20,000 sims I start having traffic problems and I don't know how to fix it can you help me plz
thanks
Nice job on the tutorial.
Hey smoking Gamer you have a part 2 of SimCity Tutorial: Population Control? MNrocker1968
Good tutorial thanks for the info, but i don't see any results....you stay at 1000 people for 20 min of the video. do you have a part 2 where we can see results? ;-)
"Fireplace"
Nice!
it sounds easy if all there is in simcity is R/C/I places. you are not factoring in air/ground pollution, crime, health, etc. but good "starters" guide for population :)
Great explenation thanks man ;)
a patch will be released on april 22nd at 1pmET
"happy" meals for everyone, yeah!
Please do the freight one, that shit is driving me crazy.
Nice zoning tip. one side only controls traffic, , oohi I didn't thought that , thanks
Nice - But, do you really want to build a city that looks like that. Despite the best efforts by the urban engineers to build organized and well structured cities, the fact is that in real life cities tend to be somewhat disorganized and the roads are not always well aligned and that is what makes them interesting places to visit. Anyway, this is a simulation game after all and if you want to build cities that look like checker boards then fine. As for me, I like to give my cities a more realistic look that provides more challenges along the way. Thanks for the tips and advise anyway!
Good tips👍🏻
you know you can make your graphics better by increasing the resolution in the settings
whats the name of this specifc simcity for me to find on steam
+Arash R. it's not on steam.. EA game. it's on origin.
you can buy it for about $7.50 from cdkeys.com however.. but you will need the origin program to run it.
i got it on origin for 15$. But it came with all the dlc and cities of tomorrow.
Does actually smoke
Great video. I just don't understand how mansions evolve into apartment buildings for the wealthy. What kind of wealthy person would want to live in a highrise rather than a mansion? It seems very counter-intuitive for me. Would rather live in the low income areas away from all the hustle and bustle. lol
Qu'est-ce que "right now" signifie ?
Well, geography has a lot of that kind of stuff mixed in with it, so we're both right if you look at it like that.
(Well, at least in England that's what its like)
Good Keep Up
I have like 100k now and my city is soooo big but my population is 500 ._.
I lost count how many times he said low and medium and high wealth here and here and also here.. Nice video but too much repeatability. but thanks for the tips.
Then you have no one to work in low wealth commercial / industrial / raw materials gathering. Which is fine if you have a city that is only high tech industry / mid-high wealth commercial / specialized buildings.
Has anyone solved traffic in this game? seems impossible...
Don't use 4-way intersections, use T intersections. I don't know how that works, but it does
I have to say this cause i don't like mistakes but i don't believe densify is a word but i may be wrong
Anyone else OCD going off like crazy during the de-zoning?
Great video about the population issue ! Hope you will give up smoking :D
lol fireplace, u're funny guy :D
am i the only one that kept pressing 3 to increase the game speed?
I do. Always have with other Sim City's as well.
and who uses the arrows to look at other parts of the city? yes :)
+Bass Snail I do
I want them to combine Sim City and Civilization into one game
finally I understand how to play simcity, lol
Really helpful, lots I didn't realize (I started yesterday) :)
evry city i have build in this game have been whorse then detroit so much crime and ended up bankrupt
u forgot to plop school bus stops.
another way it raise your population is City Services build Water Towers for Low Pump Stations and Treatment Plant for High also when you build Power Plants NO DIRTY INDUSTRY! any dirty industry will drive the sims out. also Build Recycling and Tec Jobs and locate Dumps away from the city.
When your garbage is full just go to your garbage station Edit and delete the pile of rubbish their and place a new one XD
Valcone89 that sort of works but this is not Sim City 4 trash contaminates water supplies so locate it away from the aquifer.
pls
was this video comedy because it list gaming just no ?
sup
Seems to me like you made the city worse. Your zones are lighting up red because there is not enough low wealth and your population plummeted. This video was very unhelpful, its very easy to build a city like this. I wanna learn how to build a city that can actually thrive and have a very high population (50,000-120,000).
low whealt increase more population
Does he actually smoke
at 13:20 when people get happier they get bigger
right now=tout de suite,révise l'anglais :D
Hmm, 2.5m in money? cheats used in this tut?
>tutorial<
think about that
sandbox has the cheats active....... aint that difficult
No he used Sandbox, or if he didn't do that he gave himself some money from another neighboring town.
Alter_Hastih | PS3 he used sandbox or using ALT + W(this 2 buttons click together will give you $1,000,000)
They tried that in a game called CivCity: Rome... I still cringe when talking about that horrible game...
2.5M simo😅
Is this video a joke? He started with 5k and ended up with 1k population XD
