Lord was he ever good. When Mikhail visited my country in latin america, the ticket was too expensive to see him, he knew that the majority of that ballet dancers couldn´t afford it so he did something amazing. He allow the ballet students to see his rehearls for free.
My computer crashed yesterday and all I could think was "oh my god I lost all my Baryshnikov clips and ballets." But they're still here! God bless Misha and grant him safety in these troubled times.

It was always a dream to see Misha dance....but I am sure now it will never happen...at least in my heart, I see his beauty in physical, emotional, and spiritual form only on RUclips! He is right up there with seeing the Northern Lights (very top of my bucket list)..I live in the south (Florida-America) so yea...not an option. But one day I will SEE the aurora borealis...and I will know I SAW Mikhail Baryshnikov dance!!!
I was lucky enough to see him dance several times, he is an amazing dancer! Probably the best ballet dancer ever. His made it all look so easy. I saw the ballets live with these casts...he & Sinatra are a perfect pair! Maria you are SO right about his presence
Misha, además de bello y talentoso es puro encanto. Es una suerte contar con estos videos en RUclips para verlo en todo su esplendor... Ojalá el mundo nos dé otros talentos como el suyo!! 😍🤗💕💕
@@pediatrapaola Sergei Polunin is an amazing dancer today but lacks the discipline of Baryshnikov to stay with a company and do the work. He left the Royal Ballet and was fired from the Paris Opera Ballet. I guess he freelances now? In the late ‘70s and ‘80s I could never get the always sold out Baryshnikov ticket but saw the ABT, NYCB, Alvin Ailey and The Joffrey Ballet frequently seeing the stars “below” Baryshnikov i.e. Peter Martins, Fernando Bujones, Natalia Makarova and Gelsey Kirkland, George Balanchine’s muse. I was fortunate to be a ballet student and every year our class, along with others, attended a lecture with Mr. Joffrey and Gerald Arpino of the The Joffrey Ballet and watched a ballet master class--a highlight of my youth. In Chicago we had a free Chicago Dance Festival that ran for ten years that unfortunately ended a couple of years ago, no doubt due to costs and the work involved as it grew so big but it was wonderful for the community as it brought dance to everyone, regardless of economic status. Perhaps it will be resurrected in some form one day. I hope so as dance should be available to all people and not just those who can afford it.
@@LJ-xr5th polunin is good but is no vasiliev or baryshnikov l saw all the greats back in 70's panov schauffus ..bujones bocca godunov saw so much great times
@@pediatrapaola Just watched performances of Vladimir Vasiliev in Spartacus and Don Quixote -WOW!!!! Unbelievable power, strength and extension! He was amazing! I never saw the Bolshoi Ballet but I so wish I had. He dances like he’s 6 ft. tall but I checked and he was just under 5’8”. He and Alexander Godunov were among the greatest. You certainly saw the best of the best.
Double me too. He is a lighter than air aquarian. Such grace🐦such fluidity, such flight. What,s really great about him is that he breaks away from ballet and goes straight.into modern dance. Like neruda in poetry, sinatra in song and carlin and rosanne in comedy they are all fearless. Oh, how could i forget nicholson in acting and last but not least, the great robin williams.
I thought this was sesame Street. It should be shown on sesame and the children. I've Loved Baryshnikov since the first time I saw him. My grandson looks like a very young Baryshnikov very gooding boy if I say so myself.

Misha did a lot to popularize ballet (in addition to his own dances)) sometimes I think that he has learned slow down time to do everything in time ))
