He roasted Don "Pickles" and brought down the house! Certainly the funniest man to ever roast! He took the form to new level! Thank you Foster Brooks for being so damn funny!!!
+Claude “Reviews4U” Rains . Just to say that it's lovely that people still write in to say how much they enjoy the old-timers, they don't make them like that any more ! At 2016, I can't think of many who have that individuality / instantly recognisable style . Seems there was a bit of a Golden Age : it's so nice that they are still appreciated so much, and we are so lucky to be able to see them again here on You Tube.
Believe it or not my father knew Foster Brooks very well when he did the Oretel's 92 radio hour in Louisville. My great Aunt and Uncle John and Marie owned the brewery.
Was on a plane once... and he was on same plane... and he came on the speaker as the (drunk as hell) pilot ..telling us all about the flight and where we MIGHT be going... "I guess we'll find out when we get there. Your guess is as good as mine" ! Too funny. Everyone was laughing. He comes out and shakes everyone's hands. Great guy. Can you imagine that today ? Oh, he'd be sued for "psychological distress" or some stupid thing.
One of the funniest men who ever did comedy! Foster you were one of a kind and thank you for bringing tears to my eyes from laughing so hard, so many times!
Ray Parker well while he tried to be funny in other ways but with no succes ,he observed drunk people how they were talking while the were drunk and got other people laugh at them ,so he decided to try ACT drunk while he performed and had people laugh at him ,it was a succes so deided to develop it further to be better at it and he did that REAL good ,years of practice i guess ,this is what ive heard how he started acting drunk when he peformed.
What a funny, funny man. Foster never forgot his hometown, Louisville, Ky. For many years Foster hosted a Pro-Am Golf Tournament here in Lou. for a local Children's Hospital. Movie stars, TV stars, Music stars and politicians showed up every year. Bob Hope, Roy Clark, Johnny Bench, Arnold Palmer, Pres. Gerald Ford the list could go on and on. The Tournament drew 15 to 20,000 people every year.
Yeah, I remember watching the Dean Martin Roasts growing up and I always looked forward to FOSTER BROOKS! It still amazes me how incredibly poised he was, cause everybody was rolling in the aisles when he was on, even the big names!
Me too! A TRUKY great era! I've got both Laugh In and Carol Burnett (the whole series) on DVD and I don;t even bother watching cable any more, not if i can help it!
i Palaver he was actually an alcoholic. He was offered $10 to quit and he never drank again because he needed the money. He is parodying himself as a alcoholic.
God bless this mad man, always brought tears of laughter every time I saw him. I wonder if we will ever see another comic with his ability to deliver a joke again.
I had do do a bit of research just to find out that he could talk normally. he was so good at it that most of the clips you will see of him is the drunk bits. genius! He is missed.
The preacher got a DUI so he rode a bike. When he crashed the bike at his mistress's house he forgot his glasses and he turned around and thought he saw a submarine base, but it was home and his wife crocked his gills with a rolling pin. RIP Foster, we fan's love Foster! My favorite real chronic alcholic comedian, W.C. Fields.
I found Foster on those Roasts as well when I was a teenager watching those roasts in the 70's. Funniest comedian at those roast's outside of Don Rickles.
For years while I was stationed in San Antonio Texas at Lackland Air Force Base, a retired MSgt that maintained the equipment in the fitness centers just happened to be a son of Foster Brooks and his name was Foster Brooks. I didn’t know until the latters passing he was his son.
Foster Brooks was a clean comedian. Clean comedy is the most difficult to perform. Today the attempt is to pass vulgarity off as comedy. If it wasn't for the F word many comedians would be out of work. In my opinion Foster Brooks was an exceptional comedian.
When I was young I remember the Dean Martin Roasts!! They were the best and the legendary comics on the dais were awesome! Brooks always had the greats in tears, he was so funny. This is a great joke.
I first heard this joke in the early 60's about a Irishman who lost his hat. He went to church to steal a like hat from Murphy who had one just like his. The sermon was the same.
I live in southern Indiana and work in Louisville Kentucky, Foster Brooks home town. My father in law was good friends with Mr. Brooks. I cant understand why the city does not honor him like they should, Many streets are named after blacks, but nothing for great people like Foster Brooks, Call it what you want. R. I. P. Mr. Brooks you are missed.
I have always loved the raunchy comedians, Kinison, Dice, Carlin, etc....... But nobody to this day makes me laugh like Foster Brooks. And he's clean! Any skit with Dean Martin is top of the list because Dean could never keep his shit together and Foster just kept on going.
Do you know where he kept his shot glass?Un.un.under the p.pillow fo.fo.FOR the B.Boo..Booze f.Fairy.Thank you so much Phil,I still have the watch and sense of humor you gave me and friendship. You and Teri were always so very kind. The original Encino Man.P.Foster Brooks 5/11/12-12//20/01 An original, never saw him or Dean drink a drop.
Not sure if this is true but I read somewhere that when Foster made his first appearance on The Tonight Show, Carson didn't know if he was really drunk or if he was really that good. The man was fantastic. Too bad we don't have comics of his caliber today.
He roasted Don "Pickles" and brought down the house! Certainly the funniest man to ever roast! He took the form to new level! Thank you Foster Brooks for being so damn funny!!!

LOL! i can't breath!
A legend in his own time. I miss his act so much. I grew up listening to him stammer on the roast shows of the seventies.
+Pils Nrimgaard They were great times!
Yeah, those were classic performances. Brooks was by far the funniest of those roasters.
He kept Dean in tears😂
yup
Believe it or not my father knew Foster Brooks very well when he did the Oretel's 92 radio hour in Louisville. My great Aunt and Uncle John and Marie owned the brewery.
Haven't had tears coming out of my eyes laughing in a long while... It feels so good. Thank you, Brooks.
Laughter is a good medicine
Was on a plane once... and he was on same plane... and he came on the speaker as the (drunk as hell) pilot ..telling us all about the flight and where we MIGHT be going... "I guess we'll find out when we get there. Your guess is as good as mine" !
Too funny. Everyone was laughing. He comes out and shakes everyone's hands. Great guy.

WOW LUCKY 🍀 YOU!😎😀😃😄😁😆😅🤣😂🙂🙃😉😊🥰😍🤩😘😗☺️😚😙🥲😋😛😜🤪😝🤑🤗🤭😏🥳
Heard that same story before, had a family member on that same flight. Maybe he did it regularly or just that time.
A brilliant and talented comedian. Many of today's comedians could learn from this guy.
He's always been my favorite.
One of the funniest men who ever did comedy! Foster you were one of a kind and thank you for bringing tears to my eyes from laughing so hard, so many times!

Wow. He was just incredible. What a comedian.
one of the greatest jokes ever written delivered by a master!
Foster Brooks, is just plain funny, I don't know how he does all the burps, hiccups an whistles , sighs without being drunk! He is a funny man,
Ray Parker well while he tried to be funny in other ways but with no succes ,he observed drunk people how they
were talking while the were drunk and got other people laugh at them ,so he decided to try ACT drunk while he
performed and had people laugh at him ,it was a succes so deided to develop it further to be better at it and

@@stigtuneback1966 he explained his character as being a light drinker , that had 1 too many at a cocktail party
He was a teetotaler in real life, he never drank.
I was waitin an waitin for the punch line...glad I waited hahahahaah!
I could watch his stuff forever!
Today's comedians could take lessons from this guy! He is amazing!
Love this one, showed the family they loved it too !!!
Timing man...impeccable
Foster Brooks played a man who was always drunk, this made his comedy the best ever.
I love Foster Brooks from the first time I discovered him here on you tube and I'm still laughing so hard 😁😆😅🤣😂
Single greatest joke ever written.
What a funny, funny man. Foster never forgot his hometown, Louisville, Ky. For many years Foster hosted a Pro-Am Golf Tournament here in Lou. for a local Children's Hospital. Awww...so true!! Yet...Louisville doesn't honor him...per an earlier comment!!
If true...what a shame!!
Good Housekeeping Approved and still funny.
Yeah, I remember watching the Dean Martin Roasts growing up and I always looked forward to FOSTER BROOKS! It still amazes me how incredibly poised he was, cause everybody was rolling in the aisles when he was on, even the big names!
He was funny even before he started talking, what a legend. One of a kind. Tq Mr Foster Brooks.
I grew up watching Tim Conway, Carol Barnet, watching Laugh-In and all those shows from the fifties and sixties -including Foster!
Me too! A TRUKY great era! I've got both Laugh In and Carol Burnett (the whole series) on DVD and I don;t even bother watching cable any more, not if i can help it!
*Wow!! Wasn't expecting THAT!! lol*
*God bless Foster Brooks!!*

Such a great comedian/comic actor I don’t even know what you call this, I love when people just do a reoccurring character
Excellent humor and great actor!!!
HILARIOUS!! And the man didn't drink!
i Palaver he was actually an alcoholic. He was offered $10 to quit and he never drank again because he needed the money. He is parodying himself as a alcoholic.
God bless this mad man, always brought tears of laughter every time I saw him. I wonder if we will ever see another comic with his ability to deliver a joke again.
A preacher committing adultery , imagine that?
That is a great punchline!
I had do do a bit of research just to find out that he could talk normally. he was so good at it that most of the clips you will see of him is the drunk bits. genius! He is missed.
+John Smith Yes!
John Smith
when he was "on" he was truly hysterical. always a favorite at the Dean Martin Roasts.
He was a master of his craft.
See him on Carson
Foster was the greatest and so funny.
You are right, I totally agree
Absolute genius comedian..my mum loves him.

an understatement
So the question is, why is the f-word so funny?
@@panjandrum.conundrum it’s lowbrow humour.
You’re entitled to your opinion, even if it’s demonstrably incorrect.
Well THIS was slightly off-color!
When I was young I remember the Dean Martin Roasts!! They were the best and the legendary comics on the dais were awesome! Brooks always had the greats in tears, he was so funny. This is a great joke.
Rip Taylor was my other favorite from those!
Beautiful! Thanks for posting this. :)
Comedy gold.
Excellent...
I didn't remember the joke until he got to the 7th commandment. No one like Foster Brooks.
He was hilarious! 🙏🏻

When he REALLY gets drunk, he sounds sober!
the drunk bit did him well for many years. and clean ! certainly not the way it is today !
I first heard this joke in the early 60's about a Irishman who lost his hat. He went to church to steal a like hat from Murphy who had one just like his. The sermon was the same.
Great country humor! Thanks for sharing this. When and where was this filmed?
Now that's some seriously funny stuff
Classic Foster! Thanks.
Foster Brooks had a beautiful singing voice also. He sings "Please Release Me" on RUclips. Check it out.

This skit is the least acting drunk I've seen, but hilarious as the others. RIP Mr Brooks.
I have always loved the raunchy comedians, Kinison, Dice, Carlin, etc....... But nobody to this day makes me laugh like Foster Brooks. And he's clean! Any skit with Dean Martin is top of the list because Dean could never keep his shit together and Foster just kept on going.
