You are absolutely right rick about audience being still , also we would not like to miss anything what's coming from the singer because unlike other music , classical music is mainly based on improvisation so we might know the words to the song .. but the way they sing it is always different. Thats the beauty of indian music 😇
This particular song was sung by Rahul Deshpade's grandfather, Vilasrao Deshpade. He sang it in the remake of the musical drama Katyar kaljaat ghusli. The movie has the same name n is made in marathi. I strongly recommend you to review the movie. U will find classical gems as this one.
Korbin Miles has learnt the Indian way of expressing appreciation by side-to-side waving of his head! And as usual, Rick Segall goes into a trance as the singer moves into intricate high pitches! Both of you were definitely Indians in your previous births! Good for you! 🙏🙏
He is the most effortless singer i know.. it never feels that he is trying hard even on the most difficult notes.. it just seems flawless with him.. ❤️
Rick got it right when he says that since we have grown up listening to this we know that the real appreciation of this kind of music is not in moving or dancing with it...It is an experiential thing...and we just sit there absorbing what is being offered to us...That is how we show our respect and gratitude to the artists for giving us the experience...
You have watched ' Katyar ... ' audience doesn't even clap after performance.. they are that overwhelmed.. that's just part of experience.. be in live performance and you will get it
Yes!! You require complete dedication to achieve that kind of Heights. Actually, Rahul was doing Chartered Accountancy. But he was advised by legendary Marathi writer, Musician, Harmonium Player, Actor Pu La Deshpande to leave Chartered Accountancy & devote completely to the singing. Pu La Deshpande asked him a question "How many Chartered Accountants you see when you come from railway station to home?" Rahul replied "Many" . Pu La Deshpande asked another question " How many singers you see during the same path" Rahul replied "None". Rahul got what Pu La wanted to tell him.
@Gayatri Sane No Madam !! Vasnatrao was working in Military Accounts department through out his life & he retired from there. Rahul Was also doing Chartered Accountancy. Watched his interview, where he told it clearly.
Spot on Rick!! Key word “Experential” one word which should be used for Indian classical music. Great to see you both walk the path and noticing the right elements in the journey or discovering Bharat
The person who is suggesting you such videos give him a token of appreciation from us because that person really has some good and versatile choice of videos and music.
He is such a wonderful singer taking Indian Classical music ahed....Myself and my wife will be attending his live performances on 4th November on Diwali celebrations
An indian enjoy classical music is a part of our life but you guys getting so deep into the routes of Indian culture makes your videos fascinating ♥️♥️♥️ this performance was one such epic showcase 😇😇😇 Rahul ji and Sir who played the sitar and every individual on the podium my respect and love 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Yeah...He's Truly a Legend...and I feel myself so lucky as I have worked with him in the film "Mee Vasantrao" which is also a part of IFFI, Goa now...!🎬🙏🏻😌
Oh you mean that they are not so well known..that is bcoz it is not pop music...pop or popular music is popular with many people because it consists of short songs with a strong beat and simple tunes that are easy to remember...this music doesn't fall in that category ... it is for connoisseurs....
Bollywood only pramots qawali singers. They don't have respect for classical music and singers. Only marathi industry is the one who always respect indian classical music specially hindustani classical music. Even Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Joshi ji decide to spend their life here in Maharashtra because marathi people gave him much more love than anyone else.
My absolute favourite Rahul Ji. So immersive. He gives out Pandit Joshiji vibes. Both of them have this voice quality that can be deep and strong and also at places be delicate and tender.
Pata chal gaya kya hain India wale!!! ☺️☺️ Finally you came to know what India is!! And Rahul Ji is still learning. We had bigger vocal gods earlier. 😀😀
just watch the whole of katyar kaljat ghusli movie !!!!! you'll love it. it's a musical. and english translations are available. original language is marathi
Bhimsen Anna was on another level. He is at his very own league. No one will get there ever. It's like if he is the sun then next best singer is where Pluto is.
Rahul Ji is real diamond in Classical singing he has got legacy from his family. We love his voice just superb We feel we are in the heaven. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Speachless
Rahul is fantastic...have been fortunate to have experienced him live a couple of times over the years singing some songs which are not in public domain....simply exemplary experience....Rahul Deshpande...Mahesh Kale...Shaunak Abhisheki....Mevundi...etc....one after the other on the same stage over the day....once on a lifetime experience.

I love it that Rick and Korbin have such an innate appreciation and inclination towards classical music. Some people have that. Sadly, in our own country this audience has dwindled. I wish more ppl learned classical music.
Rick, even if he doesn't like something he puts himself into practicing it and then starts liking it in the process. It takes him from few seconds to a minute or two...sometimes unusually tolerant.Korbin..you can't fake 🤔😐🤫😏🙂

Rahul being a classical singing master also has very beautiful voice and that always adds up.
What a keen observer Rick is. You not only nailed it about the audience, but you explained it very well. Superb video & reaction.
The beauty of Indian classical singing is that they use thier vocal chords like an instrument.
I could see korbin getting emotional for the first time....thats the strength of indian classical music....
Korbin's hand movements becoming more and more Indian..😀This is exactly how we would appreciate great music
Mannnn that sitar....he nailed it man....he just taken the whole performance to the next level
Superb beyond words! Not sure Luciano Pavarotti or Placido Domingo or Maria Callas could come anywhere near this.
