You are very welcome!
Thank you for all of those tips. The bonus tip is the most important tip that I needed to hear. Did not know I could dry out paints for a day or so without ruining them. Thank you so much.
Absolutely fantastic video and beautifully presented . ❤
Thank you, Laurie! 💖
Your suggestion to dry paint over night etc., was exactly what I've been trying to find out how to make my paint thicker and dryer. Thanks, for the info!

This was an awesome video. We see him doing all these things every episode, but now with the why behind it, it all makes much more sense. Please do more videos like this for us in the future!!!
Thank you Nick. We will add more videos in the future. I’m glad you found this video useful.
Exactly a good teacher won't simply tell you what to do but the how and why.
@@thekidfromiowa it was always frustrating to Bill that he didn’t have the time on tv to tell the how and why. He would want us to do that now.
Thank You for these tips.
Thanks for explaining. You have given me more confidence to try.
Great tips! Thank you so much for sharing! Blessings!

Preparation is key, great video
Wow!! You’re good with details and keeping the value ranges.
This so awesome
Thanks a million
Thank you Laury 😘
Thanks so much for this video. I'm looking to get started using the wet-on-wet technique (inspired by watching Bob Ross), but due to time constraints they seldom went into the most foundational details of how to do it: 1). What magic white is and how to apply it and 2). What brand/type of oil paints are thick. This helps!
Not sure if you’ve seen it, but there is a bob ross hour-long special where he really went into detail with the whole technique. I think it’s here on youtube somewhere. Well worth a watch!
@@Bread_Bug Thanks!
Wow THANKS 💙
Truly some great tips 👌 👏 👍
Thank you! Thanks for watching.
Brought back amazing memories as a teenager watching Mr. Alexander
He got me into painting when I was young. Great times.
Thanks 🙏🏻
Thank you dear😊
You are very welcome!
Thank you Laura I found putting thin paint on news papers, wasn’t a good idea because the paint picked up the black ink and it would absorbed in the colour. I found clear brown paper the best. I love your I inch brush. It’s wonderful. I wish I could get an 2 and 2 and half inch brush of Bill Alexander. (The great artist Bill Alexander used himself.)
Great idea. We use paper towels as well now. We make sure we use white paper towels for the same reason that we don’t want the ink to be picked up by the paint. Thanks for the reminder!
Excellent tips! My question is also about paint. How much paint should I apply to my palette? When I apply a large amount as do Bill Alexander and Bob Ross I end up wasting a lot of paint cleaning my palette. Using less paint I find I’m constantly “reloading” color to my palette. Thank you!
MAKE MORE OF THESE VIDEOS, PLEASE!
Thank you for your suggestion. We will make more of these videos. Thanks for watching!
Very much appreciated
I wanted to find out. if I applied the liquid white started the painting and then got pulled away for a week
do I need to re apply liquid again, or do I always need to complete the painting in one sitting?
I have been doing airbrush for years and this is a whole lot different.
Thank you in advance for your help. Lanny
When you say “thin” are you referring to oil point that has been thinned out with a medium like linseed oil or thin as in a little amount of paint?
Pthalo blue is very strong you only need a tiny amount. Diox purple is probably the strongest. Among brands sold in the USA that have thick consistency - cheap: Winton are relatively thick, high-quality but very expensive: Old Holland. Blue Ridge are somwhere in the middle. Definitely NOT Gamblin or M.Harding.
I'm a beginner. How do you clean the pallet?
Magnifica, cómo todo lo de ustedes, por favor donde consigo el Blanco mágico? Me envían la dirección para comprarlo en línea y me lo envíen a Colombia. Mil gracias
Hello
i love so much the way Alexander teach🤩
What's the magique white ?can you please give more explications
Thank you very much for your message. Here is a link to more information on Magic White. It is a thin oil based medium. store.alexanderart.com/collections/mediums/products/medium-alexander-magic-white
@@AAlexanderArt Thank you for this information, and all the happiness that you give ☀️🥰

I mostly do portraits when I paint. I tried to follow along with Mr Alexander about a year ago on RUclips…. It did not go well. Lol
Would love to know how he gets the snow to break on the canvas when highlighting mountains.
We will do a video tip on applying snow in the future. Thank you for your comment.
Hey i still have my Bill Alexander Pallet til this day!....
Do you guys still have the Pallets for sale?
Thanks for asking. We no longer sell the palette. So if you have one, I suggest you hang on to it!
I tought that for thickening the paint, you had to add oil in it. I received a "bob ross liquid clear oil paint". Ehat is it for then?
Thickper paint has less oil in it. Liquid clear or Magic Clear is used to thin the paint for highlights or glazes or wet the dry canvas to begin painting again. Thanks for asking.
Can you advise me on how to use these tips with acrylic paint?
Daniel,
I have very little experience with acrylic paint. Sorry. Maybe others with experience with acrylic paint will comment.
where can I get transparent paint
cannot afford canvas, so, will his techniqures work with WC paper? & wc paint?
Sorry watercolor paint won’t work with this technique because the colors will bleed together. You can use this technique on wood if you prime the wood with acrylic first.
In the art stores near me I can't find this product called Magic White. Will a thin coat of Titanium White serve the same purpose?
Titanium white thinned down with an oil medium will work. Not quite as well but it will work. We sell Magic White direct. Here is the link. store.alexanderart.com/collections/mediums/products/medium-alexander-magic-white
We no longer sell it in the pumps but in jars.
I have a question. Can poster colour white be used as magic white ?? Please respond 🙏
Thanks for asking. No, poster paint can’t be used as Magic White. Magic White is an oil based medium.
@@AAlexanderArt can I thin it down using linseed oil??
@@mephistopheles17 where are you located?
@@AAlexanderArt I live in India. I am beginning college in a few months so can't afford all the stuff, had to diy a palette knife .
What is in the magic white paint? Where can you get it?
Thank you for asking. It is a thinner based Magic White. Here is a link to where you can get it. store.alexanderart.com/collections/mediums/products/medium-
what is magic white?
My tip never wipe down or scrape the area for water reflections. Use 2 canvas one for practicing a technic to feel more confident that yes it really works. Just because. The bristles feel dry, watch out for orderless thinner hiding in the metal of the brush. Beat beat beat it all out. Jmho
Is it oil painting or acrylic?
Oil painting.
Explain to us how he did that snow, now thats the real trick hehe
Lucas watch for a future Video tip! We will talk about it.
What is magic white?
It is a base liquid oil paint used for wet-on-wet technique of oil painting. You can buy one from Bill or Bob Ross, they have their own brands. In Europe I have found magic white paint called WET from Renesans company and it works well for me.
What is magic white???
Magic White is an thin oil based medium that is used to thin thick oil paint and to prepare the canvas for the wet on wet technique. It is produced by Alexander Art. It contains no thinners or harmful substances.
While waching this video, I started to think that Step 2 was going to involve kissing the palette knife! 2:11 That wouldn't be very tasty so I'll leave that part to Bill.....
I bought BRoss paints on Amazon and most of the tubes were pouring oils, I put some on m'y palette absorb the oils papier towels and put all m'y colors in a container divided in squares and put them in the freezer, I think i Will save them that WAY !.... Lol
Bob Ross stole everything from this man. The perp for magic white, the style of painting, even his words.
WHAT!! MONET was doing wet on wet long before him. Do your homework
He didn't steal it, he even had bill on his show. Bob was marketed more successfully to the public. He never claimed he invented it, just used it.
@oscardinogetti3824 OK, he didn't "steal" it. But, isn't it odd, Bob used all of Bill's techniques? Down to the beating of the paint brush to remove paint. Bob even used some of Bill's sayings. Bob was a thief!
Lauire Anderson you well may know that bill Alexander and Bob Ross both teach wet on wet styles
you are say not tp load the bursh, all while Bob Ross does say to load the bursh and both men teach wet on wet.
Both men teach wet on wet. Bill painted for 40plus years. He knew exactly how to handle the brush loaded with a lot of paint. Most beginners struggle with using too much paint. That is why we suggest people start with using less paint. Bill only had 27 minutes. He created a process where he could deliver a lesson and a completed painting in that time. He had to change the way he did some things. When Bill painted in his studio he used less paint.
You talk about magic white here magic white there, WHAT IS MAGIC WHITE? What is made of? This is the real trick that you ignore to let us know.
Magic White is a thin, white oil medium. It is used in the wet-inn-wet technique and to thin oil paint.
Bob Ross calls it liquid white. Even Bill admits " why I tell you thin will stick to thick and I have you start out with thin paint. " But it is necessary. Oh practice. You'll see. Don't get discouraged. Watch alot. Choose a style and stick with it.
Are u just working off others work? Is nice to share the tips but why not u show us the tips urself seems to be better it’s ur video, ur tube. You know the truth. As well u show what’s going on…. But not with ur work but his
