  • In this video I discuss how viable is airsoft as a training tool for the real world. I made this video because I have seen a significant increase in real steel shooters looking into airsoft as a training option. I have seen a lot of these people looking seeking out advice. In my opinion many of them have been given bad advice about the getting into the sport. This video is NOT for the seasoned airsoft enthusiast but rather those seeking out information about how to use airsoft as a supplement to real world training. In the first half of the this video I discuss the pros and cons of using airsoft for training. In the back half of the video I discuss the pros on cons of the three different types of airsoft replicas.
    I reference an earlier video I did on this subject. You can find it here:

    Yup, concur here. When it comes to airsoft for training the purpose and mindset needs to be set from the start. Expecting that out of a bunch of random people at a public field is expecting A LOT, even for the more serious events out there.
    CQB is the strongest argument FOR airsoft in training because the disadvantages are minimized and the tactics more real.
    One of the biggest disadvantages of airsoft has just been how cheaply made, even the nicer AEG, are. They just don't hold up as a training tool.
    That said, it's great fun!

      Its good for cqb training and manuverability practice. Id say using paper walls and paper made doors be good for airsoft cqb training so it allows the ability to shoot through walls.

    Thanks for explaining it all.
    I personally don't need to worry about hold bolt open stuff bc I got an AKMS.

    Like you said like minded people to play with that is a key factor I play with all my military and x military guys as much as possible eventually squads are formed and some ass kickin can start happening one thing I will add is for the airsoft only guys is to look thru your optics stop watching the bbs also gbbr are a great time when it’s hot out keep up the good work you bring out great content

      In airsoft optics are handy as a point of reference where your second shot is going in relation to the dot or crosshair. They are not that handy for showing me exactly where the BB is going to go on the first shot. It is kind of backwards to real steel at closer ranges but consistent with long range shooting. So it works but for different reasons. At least that is my neandering on the topic.

    Yo! Watch the video with the Japanese airsofter! Hes never show a real weapon before, they bring him to a range and he does fantastic with real weapons! Of course bad habbits in airsoft compaired to real life but still pretty cool!

    You’re the man. I always look forward to a new video. I was thinking about getting a gbbr for better training purposes, but I trust your knowledge on the subject. I’m ok not having to spend the money. I am planning on picking up one of your 1:2 conversion slings though. I guess now I will have the extra money haha

      Yeah, the mags are stupid expensive... and if you drop one onto the floor or bang your mag against a piece of cover there's a decent chance it'll break and you're out $60 🙄

    Hey Rob. I’m curious about your thoughts on the KWA Ronin’s electronic recoil system. Have you had a chance to try that out and if so how do you think it compares to a GBBR? PS not a GBBR guy. Thanks for your content and professional advice.

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  Год назад

      I have no experience with the KWA Ronin's electronic recoil system. I have yet to be impressed by any airsoft "recoil" from any platform. I think airsoft manufacturers' time would be better spent working on better trigger response.

    The only reason I got into GBBRs as a gun guy was because the weapons manipulation can’t be beat. I never liked them until the Tokyo marui MWS rifles came out. They seem to be the only gbbr that people have ran 20k rounds through with hardly any issues. They’re a completely new proprietary system developed by TM to make a reliable gbbr. Don’t believe me just check out videos on them 🤷🏻‍♂️ I wouldn’t buy any other gbbr system.

    • @GunfatherMilsim
      @GunfatherMilsim  Год назад

      I have always found the main argument to be "recoil" and realistic reload function. The recoil for me is an absolute non-starter. I shoot rifles every day. Even the hardest recoiling GBBR is nothing compared to even the modest recoil of an M4. Most GBBR enthusiasts are living in a fantasy world when it comes to what a real firearm's recoil feels like. The reload argument is a more legitimate one IMO. My understanding is the bolt locks to the rear after the last shot. However IMO the hassle and expense is not worth this feature. Just my take obviously. Opinions vary. Thanks for commenting!

      @@GunfatherMilsim I’m going from firearms to airsoft as well so I agree 100% on the nonexistent recoil. I was really disappointed when I shot a gbbr after all the hype the airsoft guys give them for “realistic recoil” 😂 I was just bringing up that the TM “ZET system” is really polished and kind of eliminates the reliability factor being a problem but yes they’re pretty pricey. But great video! I just found this channel so I’m going through the backlog now lol

    As a swede, I won't have the same weapons in Airsoft as I have real firearms. I have a over/under shotgun, a side by side shotgun and a hunting rifle. So training for me with a Airsoft M4 or AK is useless. On the upside, where I live the need to have weapons for home defense is a very small decimal over 0%. So any training I do with my airsofts are only to be better at airsoft.

      @@GunfatherMilsim I get that, and I wouldn't mind being able to easier get those kinds of guns in Sweden. We can but it's a very long process of being a member of a shooting club for years and working your way up from a .22 lr through a lot of calibers and different rifles before being allowed to have them. A bit easier to get a 9mm pistol, but still a lot of invested time and dedication. Hunting rifles and shotguns are much easier. But as said, I wouldn't mind, shooting is a very fun hobby!
