  • In this video I review the new version 2 HSGI polymer tacos. I have always been a fan of the original HSGI cordura tacos and in this video I compare and contrast them. I discuss my previous experience with the version 1 polymer tacos (not impressed) and explore some of the issues I have found with thew new design.

For some years(!) now, I EDC carry a flashlight in a pistol-mag-polymer Taco on my belt. The flashlight has a 1-inch lamp head and goes head down into the Taco.
I adjusted the Taco pouch once for the flashlight, and from this day on I could draw it perfect, and - and here comes my point - I could put it back into the Taco, perfect and one-handed(!).
This year I tightened the bungees, because they whore out a tiny bit over the years and the flashlight began to rattle at the top of the Taco between the two polymer straps. A two minute-fix after some years. The flashlight NEVER came off the Taco (althought I heared that this could happen to loaded real steel mags ...) - it was only an annoing rattling.
I was once in a shop and saw the new polymer Tacos, and I tried one out. I adjusted the straps and put my flashlight in.And it DID NOT go in the full way to the bottom of the Taco. There was an edge on the inside of the polymer pistol-Taco where the flashlight-head got caught. I had to use two hands, somtimes it worked one handed, when I squeezed and shaked the flashlight down. But it was not a reliable one-handed holstering of the flashlight. That's why I prefer the cordura ones.
Bonus info: There's one part different on my Taco: I bought a molle version, so that the black plastic straps have no screws. ;-)
