If you use a toothpick you can use nail clippers and clip off the thin point. Doing this allows you to make bigger dots.

I personally like the pencil and the strait pin one the best! But they were all great ideas!

A simple tip to CUTEPOLISH (and other viewers),
When I use a toothpick and I want bigger dots, I "stab" the bottom of a [glass] nail polish bottle a few times until the tip of the toothpick gives. It will usually bend into a tiny hook at the end instead of breaking off. The result is bigger dots, and the inside of the hook acts as a sort of "reservoir" for the polish so you can make more dots before having to re-dip your toothpick.
This way also works really well when you want to make stripes but dont have a striper brush. :)

Quick diy for another dotting tool: Wooden dowels are great for this. For big dots, leave as it is. For medium-small dots, sharpen as you would a pencil. Easy. another dotting tool is a q-tip with one end cut off. Make nice lines and is very simple!
