- Went out of dana wharf aboard the 3/4 day "sum fun" and got into some BIG BLUEFIN TUNA. As soon as the fog lifted the fish were everywhere in the dirty water! I was able to bring this 70 pound tuna on my united composites 10E and penn fathom 30. This whole video is worth the watch! ENJOY!!! ALSO GIVE A THUMBS UP AND SUBSCRIBE PLEASE. Lol I still had control of it the whole time but it’s not uncommon for them to take the rod out your hands if there’s multiple people hooked up and they need to untangle or maneuver. Thank you!

Thank you it was a very special moment! I’ve watched it back about 10 times reliving it already. Went out again yesterday to try and do it again but the fish we saw were finnicky. Had a few good shots but boat was pretty packed
@@coleboop I still go back and watch videos of when I was only 9-10 years old catching my first tuna lol. Back when albacore were still out here. Wish I had video of my bluefin catches, but I still go back and look at those pics all the time. You’ll be watching this when the season is done getting hyped for the next one!
@@rickysaucedo9255oh man looks like I’ll be cursed with rewatching this video haha. I already rewatch a bunch of Bryan timms videos pretty much what got me into wanting to chase these specimens. Started watching his vids over a year ago seen them all multiple times and finally got to experience the foamers first hand for the first time Tuesday so I’m stoked! Seeing these fish makes me want to work on a private boat lol

Yes this was haha these two trips had the same moon phase as well. One of the reasons I went back out. He kept me focused when I was tired. I think I watched this full fight 15 times already haha. Was a very awesome moment
I've watched it lots too. When is the next good moon phase? Would like to try for tuna if action stays hot. Had a blast on the Sum Fun 3/4 day dorado a few times last summer but not at all as hard-core as this!

I swear it felt heavier than 70 haha wish we had a scale waiting at the dock. Guess next time if I wanna know a good estimate I’ll do the tape measure technique. Prob one of the biggest fish caught on that 3/4 day ever unless fishing was sick back in the day where this was common!

Yeah it was crazy they were in the muck more than the clear water. Was talking to people on the boat and they said it’s not uncommon for them to be in this water. I would’ve never thought even reading on bd articles that they’ll be in that stuff. I’m a believer now lol

@@coleboop yup best part when heading back is the sleep 🤣 sure do miss going to trips with my dad 😥🎣 he passed away last month we been doing for like 30+ years.. every time I see tuna video pop up I watch it and subscribe to people because it reminds me of my dad 🙏 he was 75 and still strong but got lung problems.. he was planning to go again this year got his passport all ready too but didn't make it. Enjoy your time make memories

Guys are really out there with spinning reels?
Rental gear! Not many people were expecting bluefin and thought it was just a regular rockfish or bass trip. I came prepared though but I knew what was going on down there. Would’ve been fun to watch a rental spinner to hook up 😂
Have you ever fished Florida waters? More fish in this class are caught on spinning gear than conventional,,,, just saying
@@rossginn1171 This isnt florida bud if you're using spinners for tuna you're gonna be holding the rail for hours and tangling everyone
@@LettuceLandyeah some people use the spinners and put quick work of them but it’s like $2000 gear so can’t really justify that. Would be nice to be able to cast a lure on one of them stella/popper rods without having to worry about casting and using the thumb to guide your line. But the spinners on this boat 100% agree they shouldn’t have been out there. Lol catfish rods

Kinda hard to turn and stop immediately on a big boat. Gotta keep on the gas till you’re fully turned then you can let off otherwise if you just turn with no gas you’re not going to go anywhere. If the fish popped up a bit farther away capt would’ve had us setup in casting distance
Never been on one of these I'm guessing that capt green . But the dik heads they have to UT up with makes a long day
