    This was a fantastic playthrough. You narrate your gameplay so well, I actually felt like I was sitting at the table. I’ve always said these solo only games still make fantastic co-op games if you have someone to talk through the options with.

    Awesome! I have been waiting for you to cover this game!
    Trick-taking games are my favorite. Solo trick-taking games are then a dream come true. My copy of this one arrived a little while ago and it's amazing.
    If you liked this one, give Eck a try. It's also a solo trick-taking game and it so good.

    Another killer introduction to a game I now have to try! Bummed it's not available yet, but that gives me a couple months to play through the rest of the recommendations I've picked up through your channel! :P

    Thanks Tia for a great playthrough. I love this game for the same reasons as you. And it is nice to hear you say that you find the shuffling therapeutic 😂. For me it's the same. That's just an extra bonus with these sort of games. Btw I love your content. You are such a lovely person with a great taste in games. Thanks for making these great videos.

    Why am I not surprised this was a great video to introduce people to the game? Why are you not surprised that I’m a fan of this game, although I currently only have the PnP? What did surprise me, though, was the number of times you said “Oh no”, even though there are no dice in this game…

    This was fun to watch, that early 7 was a brave attempt :)
    I love the game too, had my first perfect 20 lucky win the other day. The hand evaluation before each dialog is such a cool mechanism.
    ASMR video would be sweet! No words, no edits, just card sounds. The game should have a good amount of shuffling so something like Northwood or Onirim would work.

    I played this for the first time today, although it's been sitting in my cupboard since the release date! Shame on me. But I had so much fun with it and won with a minimum score (I know I made some errors along the way, but I like to be lenient with myself for the first playthrough). I prefer to flip allies over once I've used their abilities because it's less confusing, I also prefer to keep my hand of cards in my hands (to keep the noise on the table to a minimum!), and to have the draw pile placed horizontally in front of me.

      Love that set-up and super glad to hear you were able to finally get it to the table!!! There's definitely a learning curve with this one, so I'm sure you'll find even more success with more plays! Happy gaming! ^^

    Great video! What are the rules for the use of jacks? I see you using the Jack of Hearts before beginning the dialogue. Can you use it at other times? Can you use other Jacks before the start of the dialogue? If you change the ruler of the fief, do you also discard, or is that your response?

    • @tabletoptokki
      @tabletoptokki  6 месяцев назад

      Yes! Allies need to be used before starting a dialogue and rulers can be substituted at that time, meaning they are not added, but will cover an existing ally. Hope this helps! :)

  • @Kruz8er

    one thing I noticed in your play through is that you perhaps are overlooking the trump card effect of the suit. For example, the eyes, your 2 of eyes beats any number, the same or less when its a different suit because of the dialogue with the king of eyes. Check the instructions under the C. play out dialogues, but on the next page.

    • @tabletoptokki
      @tabletoptokki  Год назад +1

      Was there a specific timestamp where this was played incorrectly? More than happy to put in a note if there was an error with calculating the outcome of a dialogue if so. ✔️
      In terms of general strategy, are you talking about not playing the trump suit to outright win tricks? In "For Northwood", as with most trick-taking games, you need to respond by playing a card that follows the lead suit when possible.
      Hope this helps!

    • @Kruz8er
      @Kruz8er Год назад +1

      thank you for your response. its a little hard to explain here, but when you are debating with a ruler card, the suit shown on the card makes those cards wild cards. If youre engaging in debate with say the queen of leaves, this means that leaf cards trump all other cards, even by number. So a 1 leaf card vs an 8 flower card would see the 1 leaf card beating the 8 flower card because while in debate with the queen of leaves, it makes all leaf cards trump all other suits, its in the manual and ive seen a couple other videos on RUclips that point this out. I just wanted to make you aware of it in the rule book. I did enjoy your video but that oversight kept sticking out to me in each debate you had with a ruler card. @@tabletoptokki

    • @tabletoptokki
      @tabletoptokki  Год назад +1

      @Kruz8er Yes, I am aware of how trump suits work and did point this out during the rules overview and during at least a few dialogues where it was relevant. It will not be relevant in many of dialogues, because you have to follow suit when possible. If you are unable to play a card following the lead suit, only then can you play a card of a different suit. (i.e. the trump suit if it is a different suit than the lead suit) Hope this helps.

    Great video Tia!
    And this is exactly how most of my games end up (in defeat).
    I find the higher numbers tougher to get. Most trick taking games, I’m used to controlling the suit at some point.
    At any rate, I do really like this game.
    You mentioned other games you would recommend that are solo oriented trick taking. Any titles come to mind?

    I can't recall if you liked Dungeon Crawlers, but "Minotaur" is a fun Solo and Co-Op Board Game that recently came out that is packaged in a small box and takes up a small amount of table space. I think it deserves more attention! The way you navigate through the Dungeon is pretty unique. Plus fighting the Minotaur is like fighting the Nemesis from Resident Evil 3. :)
