Been using the crossbow since the start of the illuminate invasion. Super good for illuminate. Kills ships in one shot through the door once shields are down too. 2 shots the overseers and damages through the overseer's handheld shield. 2 Shots the jetpack overseers too but they move around a lot so its a little harder to shoot them. Instakills the voteless in groups with its splash damage. Crossbow is 100% the play against Illuminate if you dont want to use the tenderizer. My go to loadout rn for illuminate is crossbow, peacekeeper, impact grenades, 500kg bomb, orbital gas strike (both 500kg and gas strike kill ships too if beam is on the ship when calling it in), personal shield generator backpack, and Commando (one shots tripods once shield is down if aimed at the joint of the legs, which is easy to aim at). Armor is the arc resist light armor since everything the illuminate do is arc damage.
Easiest I've found, spray the shield down with a non-flamethrower Primary, then HE Grenade in the door. Blows the Zombie Spawners up real quick. No wasting longer cooldown resources on them.
crossbow/eruptor with a mg for special works great on the ships. Spray down the shield, swap to primary, one shot in the door.

I find that the Orbital railgun does it in one shot and the 380MM Also pops them in one hit.
