402. Crick Boat Show 2024 - All About Boats and Paws

- The Crick Boat Show is the largest Inland Waterways Festival in England and took place over the Bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 25th to Monday 27th May. Visited on the Saturday, it was a glorious day and a real delight for Sally and I to meet so many viewers, boaters and vloggers.
Many viewers say hello to us on the video, so please look out for yourselves and thank you all for your ongoing support and encouragement, it means a great deal to both of us.
A feature of this year’s show was a sponsored beard trim by Gary Phillips (of Chugabug) and Derek Watts, to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
The Show is a great opportunity for prospective boat owners to view new boats, have a boat handling session, attend informative seminars and find out about Inland Marinas. The event included free boat trips, music festival, beer tent, boating marquee, food and craft tent, chandlers, food court, clothes retailers and a whole host of varied and interesting exhibitors including the Canal and River Trust and the Inland Waterways Association. This video gives a flavour of what went on.

Hi Philip it would have been difficult in that environment but he did have his beard cut. Had some downpours this afternoon but not as bad as expected. All the best.

Sorry I missed you at the show. I was there until 7pm Saturday with good weather thankfully. My boat needs a new engine but hopefully will be up and running again. Love the vlogs.

Hi Katelyn, many thanks, I do like to deal with the Crick vlog quickly, if I can, whilst the show is on. Sunday was very wet and some rain is expected on Monday. I think Gary looks good with a beard if it’s trimmed nicely. You must be going into winter now, as our weather should improve 💙xx

I do try and get it out quickly, as I like to publish, whilst the show is on. It was great to meet lots of viewers and many others who did not appear in the video. I don’t study the boats, so don’t have a favourite. All the best, glad you enjoyed watching.

I did see you both yesterday at tillers and tankards but was too busy for my Toto ( doglet ). So waved to Sally. It felt very cramped in that corner this year but was a lovely show. I think I’ve finally made a decision too. Best wishes to you both and dear little Reggie too.

Thank you Lynette. Never really know who’s going to be there, as there’s no discussion beforehand that I’m aware of. The swans had 5 cygnets, I believe there may only be three now. Their nest was awkwardly positioned and I’ve hardly seen them at all this year. You too have a great day xx

Not a lot about the boats lots of talking to vlogers
It was actually a lot of talking to viewers, many of whom visit the show to meet the Vloggers.
Boat show ?, the vast bulk is the boat market from those making them or others with their stalls selling parts - services for them.
Yet you are obliged to pay to enter this market (?) should a retail estate do the same the place would be empty.
You can’t compare a retail park with a show like this, where boat builders and a variety of suppliers come together in one place for the benefit of potential buyers to look and compare different products. Admission price includes live music and tribute bands in the evening.

Alan it is exactly the same as they are all trying to “sell” you something just like a retail park where “all” the main outlets come together.
BTW I view the so called Bike Show the same , it is a market & nothing more. (IMO)
@@gegwen7440 If someone is looking to buy a boat, particularly a new one, then they won't find anywhere else to see so many boat builders in one location. We all have choices, we can choose to go or not. Cheers
