- Newark Air Traffic Control recordings from the Flow Control, Ground Control and Tower Control positions respectively from 745am-848a (just 2 min after AAL11 hits the World Trade Center and 6 min after UAL93 takes off). United 93 is present on frequency during this recording
Flow Controller:…………..?
Ground Controller:.....................?
Tower Controller- Greg Callahan
I'm glad these exist, it makes recreations for documentary purposes easier - and I'll have a bit of an easier time figuring out which flights were in what sequence for takeoff - UA93 included.
17:12 thats just chilling to hear united 93 radio
for some unknown reason i find myself thinking about all of that day again lately. The morning this happened I at the time was in the Mortuary Service, My partner and I loaded someone onboard a united flight and we were on our way back to the funeral home as the full scope of this had started to unfold. We were immediately recalled to the airport to remove the person again and take them back to the funeral home since suddenly all flights were being stopped. We had no idea what had been going on we didnt have radios on in the car till after the fact it was so surreal to go onto a runway to take someone off and the reasons why. not until we got way down the road did we hear on the radio what had actually transpired while we were there going about our morning duties.. Even stranger the sound of No planes the next night...
I flew that morning EWR to Chicago midway, I wish I could remember what flight I was on. Our UsAir landed in Chicago just before the south tower was hit. The CNN TVs were showing the live coverage; within a minute the flight time monitors soon showed all flights cancelled. I grabbed my reserved rental car and drove right home, nonstop!
Wow so you took off from the same airport as UAL93 on the same morning but at least an hour before they departed so it sounds
So..I have the ability to track down old flights. I usually do it for the purpose of learning what kind of aircraft it was, but from what I can tell, there were only four flights from EWR to MDW on 9/11. The only one scheduled in the morning, (and also the only one to have actually flown) was flight 706. It departed at 6:59 AM, and landed at 8:26 AM. (I assume these are local times, so that would be 9:26 AM EST) I don't guarantee the accuracy of this, as it shows all four flights with an airline code of CO, which would have been Continental Airlines. (Merged into United Airlines in 2012) If it was indeed a USAir flight you were on, (Rebranded to US Airways in 1997, and merged with American Airlines in 2013) than my resources either don't show the flight, or have the wrong airline code. (Either are possible. This is the farthest back I've gone in looking up flights)
If the flight is correct, here's some fun info for you. It was a 1994 BOEING 737-524, which was deregistered and exported to BERMUDA in 2009.
@@GiMeDaCash impressive thanks
@@GiMeDaCash aah indeed Continental! Thanks. EWR was their hub yet i seem to have blocked them out of my memory.
@@davefink2326 Probably of the events of what happened?
55:27 United 93 takes off
it takes a different kind of human to be ATC, especially in a high volume area. most people have a hard time in the double drive thru lane at McDonald's.
I’m afraid to even try the Sonic drive-in 😅
me
Hi great videos thank you for putting them up. I don't suppose you have the next part to this recording as there is a next part online by someone else 8 years ago but is mixed in with other ATC. Thank you.
Hi Michael thanks for the support! I have to edit down the audio files for the Newark ATC transmissions that day. I have files up to about 9:30 that morning I just have to find a way to compile them into one long video or in two parts

@@911atctransmissionsvideos4 Thank you for the update & link. :-)
No mention of the attack until about 1:01:05.
All I remember after the 3rd plane hit was fear. I thought we were at war. I live in Missouri and I knew we would be attacked at any moment because of Whiteman Airforce Base. We live about 40 minutes from it. I’m right between it and the Chiefs Stadium so every Sunday on home games I watch for the jets. It’s so awesome. I hear them often during the year. I left work, got my 11 month old daughter and went home. I was convinced the nukes were coming and we would be gone. Isn’t it weird what your mind does? It’s funny talking about this now when we just had the China balloon flying around. Jets were heard a lot when it was over Missouri. I wasn’t worried though.
Hearing flight 93, geez, this ruined my day..
I really hope the 2nd ground controller's health is good now. I've never heard a more under pressure controller! 🙂
Things can get intense at the east coast airports. I do wonder who that guys name is on the radio
In the next video (Newark Part 2) the controller who takes over his position and works planes back to the gate after the second plane crash seems to work his traffic more smoothly
He's a little testy if you don't answer him the first call
If this wasn’t all centered around UA93 on 9/11, this guy would almost be as funny as Kennedy Steve 😅
Not to sound dumb but in this video at what time mark do the highjacks start to happen?....nm i read the description...is there a part 2 of this?
That’s in the Cleveland center recordings. These are just from Newark tower during the time the plane was on the ground
8:25
Around 43-44 Minute mark, The guy is frustrated that nobody is picking him up after the first time he gave out instructions to the pilots.
Anybnody had this experience as a ATC officer?
@@MyDadsRUclips This common thing happens at many ATC towers and facilities every day across the world. East Coast controllers aren’t so cool (especially at Newark, LaGuardia, Kennedy, Logan, Philly, etc) when you don’t respond to a transmission on the dot
Actually it’s the same at the major airports like LAX, Denver, Houston, Ft Worth, Miami, Ohare. If you mess up during your taxi or misread a transmission, be prepared to get chewed out on the frequency. In fact at Newark as well as Ohare they’ll put you in the “timeout box” known better as the run up block if you do the wrong thing
@@darrenhenderson3 Thanks
Wow! Where did you find this picture?
I think I googled Laguardia from WTC 9/11 and it just popped right up as the first image
@@911atctransmissionsvideos4 knowing the wtc is right across from Newark is scary
i was gonna ask.. just beyond creepy
This picture definitely hits hard.
What a fascinating and terrifying find.
I wonder who took this photo?
This was not an aircraft accident. Premeditated and intentional.
Correct. A new use for commercial aircraft.
I wonder if the AA A300 pictured here could be N14053 which later crashed in New York as AA587 two months later.
I don’t believe so but who knows
It’s a 1 in 35 chance that it’s the same airframe. (AA only had 35 in their fleet from 1988-2009)
Have a friend who's father is an Airbus pilot..he's never accepted the pilot error claims on AA587
@@marcbyrnes293 that's a natural response
where was the picture taken
JFK I believe

Looks like maybe an immediate ground stop should have been initiated. My opinion.
Correction: Looks like maybe an immediate ground stop should I have been initiated as soon as possible after the second plane hit the tower.
hi me now...push back company...Barron will be able to hear great grandpa and pentagon pilot
Did the narrator actually use the word "accident"?

What’s funny is that this same plane model a330 would crash 1 month and 1 day later into a neighborhood in Queens
That's not funny tho
@@gabrielb9010 by funny I mean strange
Look, I don’t mean to get personal or anything, but I’ve heard this recording many times, and every time the ground control guy starting at 26:28 sounded like he just had a bad attitude that day, sighing, sounding flustered at times, being kind of snippy as well. Kind of unprofessional if you ask me, especially for a ATC. Thank god he wasn’t at the position when the airport was shut down.
Which position do you work in ATC?

How can you be sure?
