This is amazing, I think on some level, that ATC across the country remain unsung heroes. I am logistics myself, albeit with vans and trucks. I can tell you that whenever there is an emergency and things start moving around, the stress level goes up immensely. I cannot imagine the stress the fine men and women serving as ATC went through this day. Much respect and gratitude.

I can't imagine being a ATC on a normal day. But being an ATC on THIS day would have been hellish. You had planes in the air needing to land. You had planes on the tarmac getting ready to depart. A plane can be in a holding pattern in the air for only so long before it runs out of fuel. What a logistical nightmare.

The most chilling, of course, is hearing United 93 readback their clearances, knowing not only that they'd never land, but that as we hear these voices, there were 4 terrorists sitting a few rows behind the cockpit. I was sitting on my couch, in Australia, in the middle of the night, watching the whole thing happening on tv, in real time, from just after when the first plane hit. My son was up watching the late news, and I’d gone to bed. He rushed in to say a plane had just hit the WTC..I thought it was a bad accident, then he yelled out another one hit...that was no accident, and we sat, in the lounge room, in the dark, and watched the whole thing unfold. I still don’t have words, there aren’t words. I saw the first building start to fall behind the news anchors, and they hadn’t seen yet..just screaming out, wtf is happening? Then *two* fell? TF. The courage, and the eerie silence of New Yorkers that day. But, the world sat in witness of that worst day in human history. And God knows who is responsible and God will punish them in time.

I definitely got plastered that day. After watching the news replaying the planes hitting and towers falling for hours, they had nothing new to say so started talking about business/stocks/sports and how they would be impacted. I had also watched the rerouted planes looping over my home in Toronto; just so many. I knew it was a war of some sort but what war? And I had already had personal trauma earlier that year when I buried my first born. So, quit and went to the pub….where it was of course on every screen.
That year has had a long impact on me-not even topped by 2020. I cried when it ended. The one big positive-finding out I was pregnant with my daughter on my birthday that fall.

Because for instance, the United 634 plane that was cleared to land shortly after the airport was closed, but was waved off a few minutes later, was the plane just on the verge of landing? Also, it appears the Jet Link 4009 plane just barely made it before landings became restricted. Lastly, what is the actual process of a 'go around.'? That’s correct. The static sound is the reliving controller plugging in his headset. Normally at Tracons and EnRoute Centers, the outgoing controller is always supposed to do what’s called a “position relief” where he briefs the new controller taking over his position what’s going on. This can be done in person but normally it’s done on a separate landline phone that’s being automatically recorded so in case of an airplane accident such as this one…. there’s is proof the two controllers know what’s going on in the airspace

Being a passenger jet pilot that day would have been terrifying-wondering how safe I actually was. Another documentary on RUclips featuring the ATCs has one retell how the all stop definitely prevented at least one more plane from attacking something. Men onboard one got visibly upset and angry when it wasn’t leaving. When it eventually taxied back and the doors opened they pushed their way out and took off. Left behind were the same docs and knives the other attackers had.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion and Pearl Harbor(though I wasn't born until the early 1960's) definitely was a "day that will live in infamy". Also, no argument that the ATC folks did an outstanding job in preventing chaos on the runway.
In terms of total casualties, approx. 2,403 (incl. 68 civilians) were killed at Pearl Harbor. Approx. 2,977 (over 2000 of which were civilians, plus the first responders) died.
While any deaths are awful, the death of civilians, IMO is more tragic as they did not commit to put themselves in harm's way.

There has been a certain amount of reverse engineering that has allowed some of these craft, or some components, to be duplicated. And there is some group of people that may or may not be associated with government at this point that have this knowledge. They have been attempting to conceal this knowledge. People in high level government have very little, if any, valid information about this.
