When people talk about "The last 5%" of a build, this is the kind of thing they're talking about. A million small jobs that no one talks about or wants to do, because it's not the exciting part. It's not revealing new wheels, it's not the dyno sessions, or revealing the brand new paint job. It's welding plastic, finding a good place to tuck wires you don't want to see, getting the horn to work, replacing fasteners, pulling the interior apart because you now need to hide those wires for the speakers you talked about so excitedly and mocked up a year ago but never connected knowing the wires would get in the way, and didn't have the loom for yet anyways, fixing and measuring panel gaps from the 5 parts cars' panels you've got on there now, and having to make adjustments to the carpet because you need to make provisions for a centre console out of some other car because I want cupholders, dammit!

On youtube camera from 10 feet away you don't see any of that. So they all seemingly have "perfect" cars, except you.

Uptick the female percentage there as I'm looking to repair my Mitsubishi Eclipse dash cracks. I was teased by my guy friend that when my new front struts came in for replacement that I should get a life. My 4 new Continental DWS tires last mo. are awesome too! And I'm a girly girl who yes, drives a stick still. This, was fun to watch at 2:21am during COVID.
Thank you for the links in your description!

8:45 The best little tip I ever learned for plastic welding a bumper repair, is to cut some plastic off the bumper from a place you won't see, and use that for your filler. That way it guarantees it will be a chemical match and the correct hardness.

That generation of Celicas had this problem. In 1984 I bought a 1978 (same basic body) Celica for my son and daughter to take to college (cheaper than airfare, Maryland to Wisconsin) I looked at a half dozen Celicas and every one had this problem. I also had a 1980 Celica and it did not have the problem. I used the cap method. Over the years between my wife and me, I had 10 Celicas. BTW in the US they are called CELL i ka. Sorry they stopped making them. All mine were 5 speed manuals. I had to give up on them when a shoulder injury and surgery prevented me from two handed driving until I had six months of physical therapy. I still drive Toyotas.

Looks great Dave. I’ll have to say I was slightly disappointed at the total lack of breakdancing in this video. When you transitioned to your home garage my outlook improved, the tantalizing possibility of a large piece of cardboard taped to the floor of a spare garage stall lifting my spirits. Alas, it was not meant to be. I’ll look forward to your next video, and the chance we will get to see DP throw down a windmill or an air flare in some well worn parachute pants with zippers stretched to the breaking point.

That is unusual to see a dash pad in that bad of condition for Canada, down in the southern states you see that all the time because of the high heat and UV exposure. On my 89 Supra when my dad purchased it 6 years ago the dash pad was in real bad shape, he found one in Organ at a salvage yard for $180 US and about $90 us for shipping.
