This wheel right here is one of my favorite wheels to race with. Pure feel. I will say for a 290mm wheel it seems much bigger lol. I guess due to the height and just overall size of the wheel all around. But it's good for sure.
I do usually prefer shorter wheels in height but this one feels so good to race with.
It's a really great wheel. Price is good but it is missing thumb encoders to be honest. Feels great tho. Super high quality wheel.
Great review bro, keep it up
Thx bro, appreciate it.
Got this for -$200. Micro center was selling a bundle simucube 2 1200$+gsi $650 for 999$. So it’s as if this wheel was -$200. Great wheel, feels great
Yeah that bundle was amazing. If I didn’t have what I have, I would have gotten this hands down. X-29 is a great wheel, and at that price it’s a steal.
You have a link?
A link to the Microcenter price? I do not believe that deal is still present at this time.
Love the look of this wheel its on my to buy list 100%
You definitely should. It is worth it for sure.
Love this wheel. Simple yet extremely effective.
It is such a sweet wheel, feels amazing in hand and a good price.
@@grayzedynamics trust me I know I keep putting together the package on GSI with the Simucube pro + that wheel and man it's a sweet deal
Nice looking wheel! Great review as always!
Much appreciated. Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully I get better as time goes on.
M8 you have to do a review on the Simagic GT Neo
I would love too. But not in my wallet at the moment unless Simagic would bless me with a wheel to review and send back.
Big up Ray. Another great review. Get this or keep my Formula Pro Elite... Hmmmm
Thanks and much appreciated. Have a few reviews planned for the very near future. Unless you just want LED buttons and a more contoured grip. The FPE is awesome. The X-29 is smaller and feels to me more comfy in hand, but the chunky grips on the FPE allow for a death grip. lol
Love ur reviews.. !!
Thank you Jason. Getting better with each review. I should be perfect at this by the end of the decade. lol
I have to say it does look really good, it's clean and simple looking, I like that.
It's awesome. Get one for the R12. You won't regret it.
@grayzedynamics you mean R 9, or is that your way of telling me you hooking a brother up😁
🤣🤣🤣 of I got it you got it. Damn I ain't got it. Lol
@@grayzedynamics 😂😂
I also do the thumb thing, I notice myself on some corners not even gripping with my fingers instead just pushing down with my thumb lol
lol. Yeah we are 2 peas in the pod. Not sure if we have a screw loose. Grips feel great so it is not an issue.
Love the wheel but FYI: the intro & outro to the video is very loud compared to your voice in the video - annoying having to adjust/skip
Thanks for that. Yeah I am going to have to adjust the volume. It has been acting up lately. I was already uploaded before I realized. I'll work on it asap. Thanks a bunch.
Beautiful wheel and a great review.
Also do you have a link for your rev lights?
Rev lights? You mean simhub? Hit me up on discord.
Tried this yesterday at an expo and was blown away by the price. It's from a premium manufacturer, has plenty of buttons, 2 funky switches, 3 encoders, good shifters. No thumb encoders, but how often are we really using them? I thought this would be close to €1000, I think it's one of the best to get at the price it's at
Wow. Nice you got to go to the expo. I wish I was closer to it. Gives me more a reason to visit Germany. It is truly a sweet wheel. I will be getting the clutches in the future but not for a while yet. Building a DIY wheel here soon. This stuff is addicting.
@@grayzedynamics they need a North America edition of the expo for you guys
For sure. It would be great. Although it would likely be in Las Vegas which is quite a ways away from me. But I’d get the wife to come and make a weekend of fun and food. I wonder where it will be next year. I hear ADAC is changing venues for next year.
I'm looking to buy a F1 / GT style wheel soon. Do you have any suggestions on other wheels at same price point? My only requirement is 70 mm or 50.8 mm bolt patterns so I can make it work with my Asetek QR adapter.
Edit: Needs to be a USB wheel
What is your budget? The X-29 with or without clutches? When are you in the market to purchase said wheel. I know of something that is coming soon, but depends on your price point. All the wheels you will buy will be a USB wheel for the most part.
Thanks for the review really nice wheel !! please can you tell me if led are working for telemetry (blue/yellow/red or green flag for exemple) ? like the Grid MPX by simlab
Yes. Its all controlled by Simhub. Thx for the feedback. I have them for every flag. Check out my recent racing videos and to will see them flash.
Drop the laser etched labels and put in a couple of thumb rotaries and would be a buy for me. Unfortunately i cant see myself pressing the buy button
Yeah so many people want thumb rotaries. I have a feeling a great wheel is coming at a good price range here soon. Just keep an eye out. 2024 will be a good year to get a GT wheel.
Do you a link to the wheel you showed on the right at the end? I’d like to check it out. Thank you, happy racing and great review! 🙌
Thanks man. It’s the Balkn Rev 3. It’s a sweet wheel and I love it. I’d highly recommend it. It is 3D printed back with a carbon front. It is light and strong. balkn.shop/products/rev3-1
@@grayzedynamics Fantastic! I appreciate the link and all your honest feedback.
@@grayzedynamics Bummer, they say it's not compatible with Fanatec hubs, so it's a no go on my DD2. Such a great price point on this wheel too! Darn Fanacrap!
Check out SRM. They make multiple different types of connectors that will allow different QR’s and connectors on their wheels. I am sure they have a cheaper solution for you.
How do you think the grips would be for longer fingers? The grips look thick but there’s not much space like with the Fcore.
I have a friend who has XL gloves and said he didn't have an issue because the grips are chunky. He has since upgraded to the FPE V2, but I think you should be okay. It's a chunky wheel.
@@grayzedynamics thanks for responding and for the review!
Most welcome, here to help whenever I can. Cheers mate.
Hey man. I just ordered the wheel with the moza qr. Putting the qr on the gsi wheel is it something anyone can figure out carefully? And did it come with mounting screws? I'd not what did you use I ordered the exact same setup you have. Appreciate the help
Nice wheel. To attach the QR you’ll have to take the wheel apart unless you get a spacer. You’ll have to take the wheel apart, remove the pcb and get captives screws from GSI. you can get from anywhere too. It does not come with screws, you’ll have to get them yourself.
Hey bro. Nice video. I need some advice. Is this wheel okay for a first wheel in iracing? I’m new to all of this.
Thank man. It's a great wheel, what's your budget, what are you racing? What kind of rig, pedals and Wheelbase do you have?
@@grayzedynamicsI have a Asetek forte base, sprint pedals with clutch, all on a NLR FGT elite rig with ers1 seat. I’m going straight to iracing and will start as a rookie .😂
Well with that then for sure it is a GREAT wheel and if it is within your budget you won't be disappointed. If it's not their are some really good alternatives like the Balkn wheels. I can say I am very glad I purchased the GSI wheel. It'll be used quite often.
@@grayzedynamicsI bought the gsi x29 with 2 paddles.
Oh sweet. That's awesome. I think you'll like it. Perfect size for any car. Backlit buttons are awesome too.
Hyper SL looks so good
Yeah it looks nice. Although if I had the money to get the SL. I would say save up a little more to just get the Hyper P1. I wish the cutout at the top was flat instead of curved inward but overall. I'd save up a couple more months and get the P1.
Which is more comfy for you this or simracingbay v2 rim? Also grip is thinner on gsi than simracingbay?
If I am comparing just the grips. The SRB is slightly better but very subjective because they are chunky and not very contoured to your hand. Whereas the GSI is more form fitting. If you wanted just a wheel rim I'd highly recommend the SRB. Depends on your budget. The Balkn wheel is a great choice as well. Love the grips.
Im thorn between this and the F Pro.
Get the GSI. If you have to have thumb encoders I get it but the grips on the F-Pro are really hard. You WILL have to use gloves. What are you using it for? Do you need clutches?
@@grayzedynamics It will be my only wheel. I mostly race gt4 and gt3. I will get it with clutches so the price is almost the same
If your racing gt3 and gt4 you can save and get the clutches later. However if you have the cash, getting it now is great too. I've had both and I sold my F-Pro, won't be selling the X-29. It's too good. It truly is worth it, thumb encoders would be great but honestly, I don't use them much in game. Useful for formula racing but most races won't ever use. Both good wheels, I think the x-29 is great.
Can i please ask were you got your rev led display just above your rim, not the lcd display. Thank you.
For sure. Here ya go.

@@grayzedynamics Sorry my friend, i forgot to say thank you.
You are most welcome. 👍🏾
Would you recommend this over anything still sub $1100?
Well I'd say if your spending up to $1100, I would recommend you wait. Some new wheels are coming in the following months that may have great features. There are a lot of good contenders. X-29 is great and a good value but if you want thumb encoders than I'd wait or check out the new Simagic Neo. Not the same build quality but great bang for buck.
@@grayzedynamics I actually own the Simagic FX along with my Alpha U wheelbase
@@WittyGooseRacing cool. So your looking for a great GT option. I can tell you something cool will be coming from Bavarian Simtec. So if your not in a hurry, I'd recommend waiting. See what your options will be.
@@grayzedynamics thanks mate I appreciate your insight and recommendations
Most welcome. I think for that price range there is a plethora of wheels. Depends on grips you like, hard vs soft, led lights, size, and so much.
Hello sir,,is it easy to fix the moza or simagic qr direct on the rim?
Nope. But was worth it. You'll need to get their captive screws and nuts. And you would have to take the wheel apart to attach directly to the QR. I do not like spacers so it was worth it for me. Otherwise I would have to get spacers for all of my wheels. So it depends on whether or not it is ideal for your setup. It clears easily too so no issues.
@@grayzedynamics as long as no soldering i think im good sir hahaha,,yeah thats the thing for me as well thats why i dont need the spacer cause i need to adjust all of my rim,,is the cord touching the qr not a problem?
I don't have an issue with it touching on my VRS. There is plenty of room for the cord. I think you'd be fine too. Just be prepared to take the entire wheel apart and move the PCB to get to the screws. Once attached it works great.
@@grayzedynamics thanks sir,,was planning to get the balkn rim base on youre review then i saw this,, might save up a little and go for this wheel,,buy once cry once i guess😅
I agree. I think both wheels are great. The GSI with all the bells and whistles is quite costly but both are very nice. I believe Balkn may have something new planned too. Either way you'll like both.
Entry level 😂😂
they lost it for me with the lack of thumb rotary :( otherwise looks the perfect wheel
It is a great wheel for sure. Feels great in hand and has great features. Yes the lack of thumb rotaries on many wheels in 2023 is a glaring omission but it is still a great wheel. Great entry for GSI and something I could easily recommend if thumb rotaries aren’t a deal breaker. Thanks for checking out the review. 👍🏾
@@grayzedynamics thank you for answer, great video keep it up!
Most welcome. Much appreciated. I will keep plugging away and getting better. Have some great stuff coming. 👍🏾
Thats alot of money for something thats just gonna be used to plow into the first turn and wreck half the field on iRacing.
Well duh. I mean at least I can do it in LED style. Hahaha
intro is very loud! :(
Yeah it was before I used normalized sound. Unfortunately I cannot fix. Thx a bunch. 👍🏾
This a Moza KS GT copie lol
Hahaha. That is very true. 😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah but its lacking a rev light
I have a rev light I got from Etsy but I hear ya. You can use the LED's as a rev light if you don't have one. Lol. The Moza KS and the GSI are in 2 different leagues. KS is a good entry and bargain wheel. And for most it is all they will ever need. However, we must not forget what it is. It's a sub $300 wheel and a good value but it is very much plastic.
And more expensive!!
