    I've also noticed that with all these effects it really helps cut cost for buying effect pedals, the only pedal I would have to get would be the loop pedal.

    I don’t know if mine’s different somehow, but volume 5 is really loud. I can’t sit next to it like you. Headphone 5 is much quieter. You’ve helped me craft some tones and I enjoyed your tone course. Now I’m trying to coax some hair metal sounds, big and spacious sounding leads and rhythm. It’s tough.

      What kind of guitar and pickups are you using? If yours are higher gain, maybe that could be making the difference?

    I love your videos and I do like this amp. I find that if I EQ my bass at anything higher than 4, the amp sounds like complete mud. I need bass at 4 orclesd and treble at at least 7 to get any kind of decent hard rock tone. I also have to keep my gain more in the 5 range or I get too much extraneous noise that no amount of careful muting technique will handle. I am playing a Les Paul Studio with SD Whole Lotta Humbuckers and a Charvel San Dimas with an SD ‘78 pickup in the bridge.

    Hi Derek( I hope I spelled your name right), I love your videos and I have a Champion20 and I play it everyday but one thing I notice is that with different guitars(I am lucky enough that I have a couple of different single coil strats, a couple of teles, a metal "hotrod" guitar with one high output humbucker and a Les Paul Special with P90's etc) and with each guitar there are different settings I go to, to get great sounds. Hi! I’m new to learning guitar, and I have this amp. Thanks for the great videos. I’m mostly staying with clean tones for learning, but I do have a question for you. I love the sound of John Frusciante....is that something I can get with this amp? Or would I eventually need pedals. Again, this is all brand new to me, so it might be a silly question

    • @5MinuteMusic
      @5MinuteMusic  4 года назад +1

      Glad you like them! As for John Frusciante, you would need pedals, BUT this amp can get some of his tone. Also, he seems to play a lot of Fender guitars too. Check this out: equipboard.com/pros/john-frusciante

      @@5MinuteMusic Impressive! What do you think...Is this amp able to give good tones (for riffs and rythms, not only solos) for typical '80s rock? Europe, Skid Row, Cinderella, Danger Danger, Firehous, Vixen, Dokken, Def Leppard...So glam rock :). I assume that this Fender amp was not designed for that, but maybe for a fresh starter (like me) would be OK at least for a year or two :). It is a one channel amp so you can not use a foot switch to change channels. You can select a heavier sound and then turn your volume knob down on your guitar. Yes! It has great classic Fender tones, just like my grandfather used when he played country and western!

      @@5MinuteMusic the settings I used are:
      Gain: 2
      Volume: 7
      Voice: tweed (yellow light)
      Treble: 1
      Bass: 10
      FX Level: 3
      FX: rev. + ch (yellow light)

    Hey man, been watching your vids, they're seriously some awesome, solid, helpful info. I've got this amp and love it, and recently I bought an SM58 mic to start recording the guitar and idkk like I've been trying different placements and distances and stuff (I'm gonna keep experimenting ofc) but the recording just isn't....it, you know? Sounds a bit messy, too gritty, and just overall kinda a bad recording sound. Got any tips or anything? I know this is kinda an old vid 😂 but I'd love to hear from you bro

    • @5MinuteMusic
      @5MinuteMusic  4 года назад +1

      Thank you! Try your mic about a half an inch off of the cloth and in almost the center of the speaker. See how that sounds, then try another take with the mic about an inch over to the side (but still a half inch off of the cloth). Keep listening to each take, as you move around the speaker. You will eventually find the sweet spot.

      Also, the closer the mic is to the amp, the higher the bass response (this is called the proximity effect). As you pull it back, the bass decreases rapidly.

      @@5MinuteMusic Thanks man! Yeah so actually I did try it, and got it to the point where I think the recording sounds pretttttty good buuuuut the tone sounds kinda different on the recording than in person. I guess it makes sense that the microphone would hear it a little different. I'm trying to get a punk-ish Green Day or even kinda that nice 80s Jessie's Girl's tone on this amp. I feel like I have the tone great in person but then I would go to record it and it sounds really gritty and poor quality kinda. Right now, I have it on the green metal, gain-2, treble-7, bass-4.5, and the chorus effect on 10. I tried the yellow British voice but that sounded kinda twangy and light, kinda hollow-ish, you know what I mean? Oh and while I'm writing this comment, I gotta say, for some reason when I'm recording into FL studio with the sm58 and scarlett interface and stuff, the guitar recording is REALLY quiet, or at least I can hear it at a normal level if I turn the speakers all the way up, and then the drum beat is obviously way louder, of course I guess mixing is where you'd make then the same volume, but I kinda wanted to know if that's normal for it to be so quiet? But anyways, thanks for those replies man!

    Subbed and liked. Altough i do not agree with 10 Gain. Everything sounds best with 5 gain and volume as much as You need. I find it better also to use reverb on a yellow channel. I mainly use Yellow British and Red Metal Channel. Its best spent 125 bucks. Why use ibanez not Squier lol
