I've also noticed that with all these effects it really helps cut cost for buying effect pedals, the only pedal I would have to get would be the loop pedal.
I don’t know if mine’s different somehow, but volume 5 is really loud. I can’t sit next to it like you. Headphone 5 is much quieter. You’ve helped me craft some tones and I enjoyed your tone course. Now I’m trying to coax some hair metal sounds, big and spacious sounding leads and rhythm. It’s tough.

I have one of these as my drag around to guitar lessons amp. I use a Peavey Vypyr for my home practice, but this one is a great little amp to travel with if you want to practice on the road.
I love your videos and I do like this amp. I find that if I EQ my bass at anything higher than 4, the amp sounds like complete mud. I need bass at 4 orclesd and treble at at least 7 to get any kind of decent hard rock tone. I also have to keep my gain more in the 5 range or I get too much extraneous noise that no amount of careful muting technique will handle. I am playing a Les Paul Studio with SD Whole Lotta Humbuckers and a Charvel San Dimas with an SD ‘78 pickup in the bridge.

I hate how annoying some people are in this comment section lol… u did play it wrong but it sounds nice, if u wanna play it right it’s ( 2nd fret on the a and d string- 10 of a and 12 of d and g, slide up a fret each) open e twice 12th of e, open e twice 11th of e, repeat the slide up from uo there^ and then ur good:)

Hi Derek( I hope I spelled your name right), I love your videos and I have a Champion20 and I play it everyday but one thing I notice is that with different guitars(I am lucky enough that I have a couple of different single coil strats, a couple of teles, a metal "hotrod" guitar with one high output humbucker and a Les Paul Special with P90's etc) and with each guitar there are different settings I go to, to get great sounds. Could be a great idea for a future video!..Have a great day and stay safe!

How can i get a lead / volume increase on the Champion 40. I'll use channel 2 for a crunch / rhythm sound then when I use my Boss overdrive pedal to get a volume increase for a solo, nothing changes; the volume remains the same no matter how much I increase the gain or volume on the pedal. Any advice?

@@5MinuteMusic my local music shop has a champion 40, but due to covid I can't go and test it. I also hate to give up my marshall but the truth is that I don't use it at it's full potential, I always have to play in volume 1 or 2 and the valves don't really produce that good of a sound at that level. Being able to use headphones is a big plus for me

Hello I have the champion 20 and I love the cleans I can get and I also love the metal tones I can get but my only problem is I don’t know how to switch from clean to distortion or vice versa. Do you know if this amp has the ability to use a foot switch with it ?
It is a one channel amp so you can not use a foot switch to change channels. You can select a heavier sound and then turn your volume knob down on your guitar. This will tame the distortion a bit. It is a way to go from clean to distorted with a one channel amp. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hello I just bought this amp and actually it's my first time playing electric guitar, I already set the gain to 10 and volume to 5 and the voice British yellow and it's doesn't sound the same as yours. Do you know why? I'm still trying to figure out how to set up the amp
Also, make sure your Treble, Bass and FX settings are the same as mine, and I used the bridge pickup on my guitar (which is the one furthest from the neck). Settings: Channel 2, Gain: 10, Volume: 5, Voice: British (Yellow indicator light) -OR- Metal (Red indicator light) , Treble: 6, Bass: 10, FX Level: 5, FX Select: Reverb+Ch (Green indicator light).

Hey man, been watching your vids, they're seriously some awesome, solid, helpful info. I've got this amp and love it, and recently I bought an SM58 mic to start recording the guitar and idkk like I've been trying different placements and distances and stuff (I'm gonna keep experimenting ofc) but the recording just isn't....it, you know? Sounds a bit messy, too gritty, and just overall kinda a bad recording sound. Got any tips or anything? I know this is kinda an old vid 😂 but I'd love to hear from you bro
Thank you! Try your mic about a half an inch off of the cloth and in almost the center of the speaker. See how that sounds, then try another take with the mic about an inch over to the side (but still a half inch off of the cloth). Keep listening to each take, as you move around the speaker. You will eventually find the sweet spot.
Also, the closer the mic is to the amp, the higher the bass response (this is called the proximity effect). As you pull it back, the bass decreases rapidly.

Yeah so actually I did try it, and got it to the point where I think the recording sounds pretttttty good buuuuut the tone sounds kinda different on the recording than in person. I guess it makes sense that the microphone would hear it a little different. I'm trying to get a punk-ish Green Day or even kinda that nice 80s Jessie's Girl's tone on this amp. I feel like I have the tone great in person but then I would go to record it and it sounds really gritty and poor quality kinda. Right now, I have it on the green metal, gain-2, treble-7, bass-4.5, and the chorus effect on 10. I tried the yellow British voice but that sounded kinda twangy and light, kinda hollow-ish, you know what I mean? Oh and while I'm writing this comment, I gotta say, for some reason when I'm recording into FL studio with the sm58 and scarlett interface and stuff, the guitar recording is REALLY quiet, or at least I can hear it at a normal level if I turn the speakers all the way up, and then the drum beat is obviously way louder, of course I guess mixing is where you'd make then the same volume, but I kinda wanted to know if that's normal for it to be so quiet? But anyways, thanks for those replies man!
Subbed and liked. Altough i do not agree with 10 Gain. Everything sounds best with 5 gain and volume as much as You need. I find it better also to use reverb on a yellow channel. I mainly use Yellow British and Red Metal Channel. Its best spent 125 bucks. Why use ibanez not Squier lol

Thank you! Try your mic about a half an inch off of the cloth and in almost the center of the speaker. See how that sounds, then try another take with the mic about an inch over to the side (but still a half inch off of the cloth). Keep listening to each take, as you move around the speaker. You will eventually find the sweet spot.
Also, the closer the mic is to the amp, the higher the bass response (this is called the proximity effect). As you pull it back, the bass decreases rapidly.

Yeah so actually I did try it, and got it to the point where I think the recording sounds pretttttty good buuuuut the tone sounds kinda different on the recording than in person. I guess it makes sense that the microphone would hear it a little different. I'm trying to get a punk-ish Green Day or even kinda that nice 80s Jessie's Girl's tone on this amp. I feel like I have the tone great in person but then I would go to record it and it sounds really gritty and poor quality kinda. Right now, I have it on the green metal, gain-2, treble-7, bass-4.5, and the chorus effect on 10. I tried the yellow British voice but that sounded kinda twangy and light, kinda hollow-ish, you know what I mean? Oh and while I'm writing this comment, I gotta say, for some reason when I'm recording into FL studio with the sm58 and scarlett interface and stuff, the guitar recording is REALLY quiet, or at least I can hear it at a normal level if I turn the speakers all the way up, and then the drum beat is obviously way louder, of course I guess mixing is where you'd make then the same volume, but I kinda wanted to know if that's normal for it to be so quiet? But anyways, thanks for those replies man!
Whenever I try use the metal voice my amp makes a really loud fuzzing noise is this normal?

Subbed and liked. Altough i do not agree with 10 Gain. Everything sounds best with 5 gain and volume as much as You need. I find it better also to use reverb on a yellow channel. I mainly use Yellow British and Red Metal Channel. Its best spent 125 bucks. Why use ibanez not Squier lol
