My husband has started making pie crusts and pie. He does a fabulous job. SO good. I always over worked them. Gonna find this book for us. I can read the stories and he can make pies! Ms. Lori, I just love you and your videos. I wish you could teach me all you know about cookin', preserving food and gardening. Be blessed.
What a beautiful gift from your friend. And thank you for sharing it with us and sharing the recipes. The transparent pie looked delicious. Have a blessed day❤
I should have put some chopped pecans with those cherries! I now started rolling out all my dough on a tea towel because of your videos! Imitation is the highest form of praise! Your videos are a tremendous gift during these difficult times!❤️🙏🏻💙
I love pie! And cookies! I love egg custard pie and coconut cream pie with meringue instead of cream! I prefer egg custard pie over sugar pie, but I made sugar pie from a recipe from my 95 year old friend. Her family loves it . My boyfriend and I sat there eating them both and I still prefer egg custard! But, I love seeing how these vintage recipes turn out. Your video are so much fun! Love them!
I found your channel a couple months ago and I’ve been enjoying all of your videos so much! You are getting me through the rough days of this pandemic! When I listen to your beautiful voice it sounds like home to me. I’m not southern, but I am a small town country girl from Ohio and my folks spoke your language if you know what I mean! God bless you and Mr. Brown.
I love pies, too, Miss Lori; more so, even, than cake. And this looks like a GREAT pie! I can't wait to try this one out, and the others, as you go along. God bless.
I am obsessed with pie making. Even dethroned a professional pastry chef in a competition one year. I learned from good old country women! My FAVORITE pie cookbook is called Sweety Pies An Uncommon Collection of Womanish Observations, With PIE, by Patty Pinner. Lots of spectacular recipes. Not a bad one in the bunch and some really old unusual ones from great grandmas. And she gives the stories behind each one and written so well!
Whippoorwill Holler I think you’d really like it! Patty Pinner has written three cookbooks but the pie one is my favorite. I’d buy a copy and send to you if it weren’t for all these chemo bills of my daughter’s (she is in remission thank God) so my budget is shot. But I hope you get the book (it’s on amazon) and try some of the pies, YUM ....and read the fun stories that go with them! God bless ❤️
Pies are works of art and to me,the perfect food. I love all pies, sweet and savoury. Everything about a pie is wonderful, the looks, the smell, the taste and they are always,in some ways, comforting. If someone ever called me a “pie eater”, I would take it as the highest compliment.
We like pies more than cake. My husband has pie for his birthday. My mother and I have a collection of old cookbooks that have stories to go with each recipe. We read them like novels. 🙂 🥧🥧 Many joyful blessings. ♥️
It’s interesting that when I get a new cookbook, it never occurs to me to actually go through and make the pies in succession to ‘test’ them out! Daughter goes through cookbooks and reads them like novels. I do that with The Frugal Gourmet, Jeff Smith’s books because he writes them like a novel. You’ve reminded me to do the making of recipes, not just read them. Blessings to you and Mr..Brown
The pie book looks awesome & simple instructions. I love to "read" cookbooks! I much prefer pie to cake. How wonderful of Vicki to gift this to you, I noticed it looked like the author may have signed it for you. You are a blessing, thank you Lori, & Mr Brown.
That’s awfully sweet what you said Lori, we should absolutely support each other as women. We need each other more than ever and giving, I find is the most rewarding thing in life. Giving a home made pie, cake, cookies ect, people just love it!! It’s real generosity from the heart ! Great looking delicious pie , I must try to bake it!
My favorite is pie’s also . My Mom made rhubarb mixed with strawberries.I will never forget that pie, it was delicious. She also made vinegar pie’s. It taste just like lemons. And buttermilk pie to. God bless you and Mr Brown.Praying for our nation and its people.
Before I got the recipe for chess pie I went to the grocery store (A&P ) and went to the spice area looking for ‘chess’ ! That was about 54 years ago, Chess Pie is my husband’s favorite pie🙌🏻😊🥰😃🤩🎉❤️🙏🏻
Mrs. Lori have you ever made a Buttermilk Pie? They are so good. The video takes me back to watching my Aunt Artie making pies and singing hymns while she made them. Good memories and there is no pie like a homemade pie. I'm looking forward to going thru the book with you.
All four of my grandparents were deceased by the time I was born, so it is really difficult to imagine what my great grand parents were like. I'm 84, so that would be quite a few years to play with.
Miss Lori I love pies to but my grandmother told me to fix one with one cup of sugar one stick of butter one cup of buttermilk mix it all together put it in a big canna peaches and you’re done that’s always been the simplest one to me
Right now in my oven is a cherry danish type thing I put together quick for breakfast with some biscuits cut up, cinnamon sugar, brown sugar, butter and cherry filling all mixed up and put in a small round casserole dish. Had to come up with something quick so we’ll see what happens. As long as the coffee is good I’ll think it’ll be alright! Blessings galore to you and Mr. Brown!
Pies are my specialty! They are works of art and delicious! Guess you’ll have to figure out how to get that fudge of yours into a pie! You said one time that was one of your favorites! I lived in Mississippi for 9 years and they have a chocolate pie that might just qualify for a chocolate fudge pie!
Hello Mis Lori I found the book on Amazon and my daughter has bought it me for my birthday I am looking forward to trying the recipes they look yummy God bless xx
I love to eat pie but have never made a pie crust, now I want to try it. You made it look fairly easy. I love the old ways of doing things. My grandparents had a big farm in Mississippi when I was a child, oh the happy memories I have from there. Your videos make me happy, thank you! I like to watch Vicky too, she’s got lots of good information and she’s a nice lady.
I love it when you share and look through your cookbooks, telling the stories. Your videos have inspired me to try for homemade pie crust again. It's the ONE thing I have problems with. I really love, & enjoy your channel. Please keep them coming!
Pies are my most favorite thing to make. Partly because not too many people make them from scratch anymore so it feels like it’s a dying art. But mostly because I learned how to make pies from my mom and grandma who have both passed. It just makes my heart happy when I bake a pie and remember those wonderful times with them.
Oh my goodness that crust and the pie looks so delicious! What a sweet gift from Vickie. I absolutely adore both of you. You can tell when you meet really great people. Thank you so much for sharing the book and the recipe Lori. I do need to practice my homemade pie crust and you gave really good instructions. Hope you have a great day!--------------Tressa Daigle
Tressa's Stay at Home Life we adore you Tressa, your a jewel, please keep up the good work , the good videos, I so enjoy watching your videos, love ya.
Just ordered this book ... should be her Oct 3, 22 ... cannot wait ... I offer two pie choices a week for pick up at our Sat Market ... try to use my Mom’s recipes I grew up eating and wanted more vintage pies after I found out about this book
Everytime Mom would make a pie, she would ALWAYS make extra pie dough so that she could make us kids, what I fondly call, cinnamon sticks. Mom would take the scraps of the leftover pie dough and form it into a ball, flatten it to the he same thickness as the pie dough, with a rolling pin, place THAT flat piece of dough in a cookie sheet or bar pan, then sprinkle a cinnamon sugar mixture over the dough and then take a knife and cut the dough into strips, bake for 12-15 minutes! Let it cool before eating because the sugar WILL BURN THE ROOF OF YOUR MOUTH!! These are what I call cinnamon sticks!! So STINKIN' good!!
It is wonderful how we all are blessed by incredible people on our journey . Thank heavens for all the beautiful wonderful people in this big old world . We called that pie candy pie . Sweet and delicious . I love to bake and watch my loved ones dig in and have smiles and a full happy belly . Its is unique to have a wholesome channel to enjoy watching , thank you Mrs. Lori . Much love 💕💕💕
Miss Lori, I will be making that today & hope it will last the weekend👍! Last month I made 3 pies: apple, pumpkin, & lemon meringue. Your pie looked so good as you were eating it I will break my diet & get out my empty pie plate! 😁🤗 You have a blessed weekend & remember to keep your eyes on Jesus. 🌈🙏🌈
Love how you said women need to build each other up not down this day and time I see so many young girls who try so hard to destroy each other so much jealousy and I just cannot understand this I came from a big family we lived by the old ways and we had to depend on each other and we didn’t have time for all the drama.
I appreciate so much that you don’t cut your videos and make everything look perfect. You showed us how sometimes your pie crust sticks, which it does. TV makes it all look like things are always perfect. I love the normal, way of cooking and how to work with things.you are amazing.
Oh Lori I grew up on Transparent Pie and the same pie crust recipe. It is my favorite and my Mawma always made it for me. When you turned to Transparent pie I about cried nobody ever heard of it in Ohio. We used to go to Magees Bakery in Maysville, KY and get transparent puddings (tarts) and with my other mawma. George Clooney still goes to Magees to get them ( they are no longer in town). My grandparents were homesteaders and I’m so happy I got to live and learn from them. Enjoy the pie!
My grandma used to make the best pies. Every summer when we'd visit her, she'd make me a rhubarb or blackberry pie. They were wild blackberries we'd go pick and she grew her rhubarb. I'd give anything to have one of her pies right now.
Oh Lori...I love this! I’m a pie lover too! Love making and eating them. Lol. I’m going to have to buy this wonderful cookbook and add it to my collection! Thanks for sharing! 💜
I'm new to your channel and because its winter here in New Zealand, and the weekend has been particularly cold I have been watching so many of your videos. You have inspired me to try some of your recipes as you manage to make everything look so simple and yummy : ) Thanks for sharing and take care. Regards from New Zealand.
Ms. Lori, I was wandering how to make a chess pie. I tried one recipe 17yrs ago and it didn't turn out good. So watching you on the visual part is great. See I'm a visual learner and now next weekend I'll make one. Thank you. Nanny Patty
Hi Lori, What a wonderful gift from Vickie!! And thank you so much for sharing with us about the book. I loved watching you make the crust and the pie filling. It looks delicious. And your kitchen is SO charming!! Love, Mary ❤️😘❤️

Very cool history of pies! I’m looking forward to more…
My husband has started making pie crusts and pie. He does a fabulous job. SO good. I always over worked them. Gonna find this book for us. I can read the stories and he can make pies!

My Grandma taught me to mix your pie dough in a bread bag and that way you handled it less and therefore flaking! Workes everytime
We like pies more than cake. My husband has pie for his birthday. My mother and I have a collection of old cookbooks that have stories to go with each recipe. We read them like novels. 🙂 🥧🥧
