This Incubus (from 1986) actually changed their name to Opprobrium at the end of their break in 1999 to avoid confusion with the more popular band formed in 1991.
there was actually two different INCUBUS bands that actually started out in '86 one from georgia with Mike Browning on drums later from Morbid Angel before Pete "commando" Sandoval and Steve "skullator" Shoemaker also from Hallow's Eve on guitar who never got to record anything with the band also all they recorded after he left was a s/t demo ,the other one being this one from louisiana,no other incubus ever mattered,to the underground that is!
Whilst I may now wish I wasn't as old as I am I will always be grateful for growing up during the evolution of thrash/death metal. Music has never nor will it ever be as exciting and ground breaking again.
Crazy how these guys emigrated to the US, put a band together there, record the album in an American studio with American producers, and still they sound Brazilian.
Reason probably disbanded for a good minute. Sound like a bootleg of Sepultura and Sepultura was already making waves into America without moving into America.

I've heard that many parts were re-recorded for all subsequent reissues and that the original is vastly different from the future releases. Could you tell me a few specifics about how its different? Also, can you tell if this particular upload the original or a reissue?

This record is a real gem. Reminds me a lot of those bands coming out of Buffalo, like Leviathan, Tirant Sin and Beyond Death. Like, the vocals are pretty similar, especially Tirant Sin's.
I never really knew the history of metal in Buffalo. Lived here my whole life. Watched a cannibal corpse documentary and they were talking about those bands, and the scene in Buffalo. It was so incredibly cool to hear. I wish I was around during those times. I was born late 80’s. I enjoy them now though.

i love the drum on this album. very vicious, 1988 released and one year later Morbid Angel - Altar Of Madness were release. yet, Altar Of Madness received more love than Serpent Temptation. But... both album kick ass!!
