This is 100% the A-flat B.86 unpublished prelude! I love Arrau's edition. I think you employed a clever tactic with the undulating triplets in the left hand to make us think op 25 no 1, but the harmonic climaxes are undoubtedly the B.86 posthumous prelude!

Firstly, your "reworking" is a wonderful nocturne in its own right. But, to your question, I think it's the "Aeolian Harp" etude.

More likely the Ab major impromptu.

I think it is prelude in Ab major B.86
Yes it is like the Ab impromptu but the chord progressions are different

The posthumously published prelude in a flat major, "presto con leggierezza"!

Your concluding gestures are always fantastic. Where do you steal them? If they are yours, you are the new Chopin

It's got to be the aeolian harp etude, although if you'd transposed it I think I would have found it harder to figure it out.

Your composition on Chopin’s harmonic structure is wonderful. I wouldn’t recognize it - though I don’t know his preludes well enough.
Just a thought but I think your piece is art in its own right and it is 100% ‘creative’.
Just think about visual artists who borrow other famous pieces in their work, or who paint a photo or even a landscape scene outdoors. They too are technically ‘copying’. But would we say this is stealing or cheating? I think not!
