Honestly, it's nothing new. HP has been using this same keyboard for literally 6 years. My 1040 folio has the EXACT same keyboard. It is not meant for long-term typing. It is by no means a bad keyboard. It's just not meant for anyone needing to use anything but letters.

They usually do it indirectly, calling them out for soldering down the components. The people who watch these kinds of videos are likely to upgrade their computers and stuff, so if you can't upgrade after you buy they'll call that out instead. My Zbook Create arrived yesterday morning and I love it! Gets very warm (unsurprisingly), the soldered RAM is disappointing (as I’d like 64gb), I miss the extra screen real estate of a 16x10 aspect ratio and it’s a regular 2070 (not a Super). Those keyboard power button you have to hold and by default a prompt pops up asking what you want to do. So if you press the power button as youre typing it wont do anything.
@@mashy712 that's a relief. I use the back bar all the time & was thinking I'd be likely to catch that power button. (2 finger typist with bad error rate here).
Kinda late for this, but HP's weird power button usually takes more than a few seconds of press before activating, so you wouldn't accidentally turn off your laptop. And the delete key being on the corner actually makes it easier to find with the right hand pinky finger imo.
9:48 The speakers in the HP are better Alex, the Dell is really harsh in the high end
Lol how tf are you supposed to know?
but HP is awful company! 🤮🤮🤮 HP customers Extinction! hopefully!
It's really not possible to tell either way just by watching this video as so much depends on the microphone, audio processing, compression and finally the audio setup used in the device you watch this on can make or break the audio.
But if I were to judge by what I can hear I would agree with OP. It appears to me that the HP sounds better than the Dell. Using my setup the HP sounds more open and more detailed in the high range than the Dell. The Dell appears to lack in the high end as well as in the bass register, giving it a muffled sound that lacks in details.
But as I wrote I can't really say that's anywhere close to what it sounds like IRL.
I got to test one of these at work and I'm in love with the build quality and the keyboard. It's amazing.

What tends to astonish me is how often these business-y laptops still cost the same as gaming laptops, just without the GPUs.
@Dylaila So is my laptop that has a 1060 in it. Maybe not as thin and light, but still comfortable to use on a plane. =)
Not every gaming laptop is a desktop replacement behemoth, especially after AMD's 4000-series landed.
@Dylaila show me one laptop that can't be used on an airplane. And please don't bring up that stupid 100 Wh limit nonsense. Never in the history of the FAA has anyone ever had their laptop battery size scrutinized, or have been denied getting on a plane because of the battery. My old laptop had two 65 Wh batteries, never had an issue.
@@xenonram I mean, there's an off chance that a business exec has to throw their laptop away at the airport checkpoint and proceeds to sue the manufacturer I guess? I've always seen it more as a legal CYA
@Dylaila I mean technically some might fall under those restrictions, but not that many laptops. There's the 100 Wh thing, but even that seems to be mostly aimed towards powerbanks rather than laptops.
I thought I might have missed some newer restrictions, but googling the issue revealed only specific restrictions for not being able to take a laptop into the cabin when flying to or from certain countries, and of course not being able to use them during takeoff and landing, but other than that even the 100 Wh limit wasn't mentioned as applying to laptops.
EDIT: Even then what would prevent you from taking say a Zephyrus G14 with you? Apple Macbook Pros, MS Surface Books and LG Grams come with larger batteries, and it's an under 2 cm tick 14" laptop that weighs 1.6 kg. And happens to have an RTX 2060 inside it. It's only a bit bigger than a Dell XPS.
Why would I want to buy a laptop for 4k when I can get an insane setup for 4k

Thanks Alex!!! For finally reviewing something from the Z series by HP. Most of the things people like about other competing laptops HP has been doing them in the Z series for years. Not sure why they don't do them in their "consumer" products sooner so they aren't "catching up" with the competition in that category though. Will you please also compare the Z series desktop to the Apple "pro" desktop for a real comparison instead of saying that there isn't anything else in this category? HP literally created the workstation/professional class desktop computer category when they invented the first "GPU" decades ago and they have dominated it ever since then.
Alex: "a lot of venting"
Editor: "sus"
Nice.
I has an earlier version of this (with the Quadro) at my previous employer and honestly it was a beast. Yeah it's heavy and square but it could do anything you threw at it and it never slowed down or ramped up the fans. Used it as a docked PC for my desktop at work and then when I needed to do something at home or in a conference room you had everything you needed. Mostly did 3D modeling and Civil 3D/AutoCAD which runs really heavy (because it's still not multithreaded)
Is it just I'm high, or Alex is talking more casually in this video....
From the manual:

not gonna lie the video production quality on LTT, ShortCirvuit and Techquickie Channels is kinda lacking lately..
Not sure for what reason but i can see many mistakes like in video editing (like cuts not being done correct when people mess their lines up and star over), as in delivering the wrong information to us.. multiple times in the same video (like saying hdmi 2.0 instead of 2.1 etc.. even though if the editors correct them with a text)
Gotta be more careful if you wanna have a more professional approach to things.. you are a company after all and people like me come to you for the right information
