- Roger Waters & David Gilmour - Comfortably Numb [Live at the O2 - PROSHOTS]
Roger Waters The Wall - Special Appearance by David Gilmour, Live at the O2, London - May 12, 2011 - The official version approved by Roger and David
Song: Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Album: The Wall (1979)
Lyrics:
Hello?
Is there anybody in there?
Just nod if you can hear me.
Is there anyone at home?
Come on, now,
I hear you're feeling down.
Well I can ease your pain
And get you on your feet again.
Relax.
I need some information first.
Just the basic facts
Can you show me where it hurts?
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child I had a fever
My hands felt just like two balloons.
Now I've got that feeling once again
I can't explain you would not understand
This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb.
(solo)
I have become comfortably numb.
O. K.
Just a little pin prick.
There'll be no more AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
But you may feel a little sick.
Can you stand up?
I do believe its working. Good.
That'll keep you going through the show
Come on it's time to go.
There is no pain you are receding
A distant ship, smoke on the horizon.
You are only coming through in waves.
Your lips move but I can't hear what you're saying.
When I was a child
I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.
Kudos to whoever talked David into this, it's like watching two estranged brothers get together again.
The two actually negotiated it. Gilmour agreed to play at this show if Roger would play a benefit gig for Palestinian refugees.
he proposed himself in exchange for Waters to sing for him
@@johnowens5284 thats not true. why would david need roger for a benefit concert?
@@wickedhouston5538 it is true if you do any ounce of actual research. Rogers/Gilmour performing together is money and that’s the goal of any benefit concert. So to return Rogers favor Dave showed up to this gig.
@@Ktallica if you had any actual sense you would realize that they are both famous and dont need each other for anything
Roger just loves the drama of it, David loves the music. This is why their creative relationship worked so well and couldn’t last either.
They never should have broken up
This Mr. Waters is on another musical level. David Gilmour, is another genius. They are both immortal.
Both of them always have been pink floyd and both of them always will be pink floyd to the very end
David Gilmour is the type of guitar player who can make more mistakes than my jam sessions and still make me cry
He is up 70
I don't think he liked being that high... He rarely makes any.
what mistakes?
Nah those arent mistakes
It's his solo he can't make a mistake it's improvisation
the moment he points to Gilmour, beautiful
Proud to say I was actually in the room for this, sitting at the back, crying, with everybody else. I was in shock for about 2 days after this happened. When you see Gilmours Black Srat on stage next to Roger's bass for the soundcheck, and realise that maybe, just maybe, it's not a replica. Insanity happened, for about, 8 minutes. Nick was sitting in the front row watching it as well, and came on at the end for Beyond The Wall. I remember, everything. It was beautiful, even if for 1 night.
The one time, that one god damn time that he plays this song with Waters and the damn E string shits itself. One job. It had ONE JOB!
Did it break or what?
@@laukseler359 sounds out of tune
It wasn't the E strings fault. David messed up the vibrato because he was focusing on fiddling with the pick. Still love this performance tho
I don't think he liked being that high... He rarely makes any.
My father showed me this when I was younger, now 25 years later as a Hip-Hop head, there is nothing that can make me cry so easily as this guitar solo at the end compared with the drums. It just make the water inside my body go all around.. unbelievable!
This whole show is just magic!
Glad to read this. Happened to me too. "Hated" my parents music. But when you reach the same age...
David Gilmour is the best!!
this is for you Tim ...my best friend ... I miss you!!!!!!! R.I.P
RIP.
God...that was phenomenal
If you think that was phenomenal then you need to watch the pulse concert, it will blow your mind away 100 times better than this.
Keith Garr agree
These men are GODS!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
Gilmour and Waters make this perfection. No "Ifs" or Buts"... Perfection.
I can't even imagine how incredible this must have been.
thank you so much for uploading this. This is my favorite live performance of all time, and I'm so happy it's back here!! Please never take it down!
This was so cool. Brought back memories of the Nassau Coliseum, 1980
The Goosebumps as David appears and starts to sing and you see both right dead and center with each other is just on another level of emotions, what a scene!
2021 , 60 years old and this is one of my alltime favourites and i regularly come back and watch
No words....
This....is awesome
Rolou uma lágrima. Não teve jeito.
Please Guys! We need a Pink Floyd’s Album!
No Pink Floyd without Rick.
This was amazing. At least no one made a pointless post of quoting the lyrics.
Melhor show, melhor música, melhor guitarrista, melhor efeito visual, e o genial Waters comandando tudo.
Amazing!!!!
Thanks sooo much for this.
More events like this would've been spectacular, but....
If this is it, it was Perfect.
Increible!
6:26 - Uncontrollable tears of joy 🥲
Gilmour the GOAT.
Saw this show last night in Melbourne..Fantastic. Unfortunately, David gilmore was not there but Snowy White was fantastic on guitar
pink floyd was the first band I ever got into, and I got into them in a big way. got all their albums throughout high school and was lucky enough to see them in 1994 with my dad. knowing the decade of animosity between these two, seeing this now brings a few tears. im glad they were at least able to share the stage together a few times
Gilmour guitar 💪💪💪💪
If this was their last performance together, it was a great way to go out.
please leave this video for future generations .... please
@irontrooperdsm13192 Same, Roger Waters is amazing, and so is the show he puts on. Simply amazing.
A.W.E.S.O.M.E
Leggendari
I could die listening to the second guitar solo!
Tranquilo, David. Yo también estaría re cagado ahí arriba.
Memorável
Roger Waters Lived to see The Wall Live in Berlin 1990
6:25 This is cool as fuck
I hope there will be more of these. I could go on tour :) If you grow old be good :)
Pink Floyd é demais
Wow
4:40 .. I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown
The dream is gone..
So.. I love this version
I had meningitis as an infant, now i have seizures the song describes a seizure perfectly, the song was written for me
Its almost like Gilmour appears as a heavenly figure above Waters and the crowd.
Roger god..
i’m guessing david gilmour couldn’t play properly cause he’s hands were trembling as he was afraid of heights
FXFTube Your comment deserve more likes.
@@juanbensusan in fact, a kick in the ass.
2:40, first solo, his fingers seem rusted; but according to me not because of being afraid of heights: this was a single appearance, with no many rehearsal preparing this gig; even if he's the composer of this tune, playing with others always requires training and complicity. to support my idea, you can compare two different performance of "Echoes" during the "Remember that Night" tour: during the first the one played at Royal Albert Hall, the duet part with Rick Wright sounds good (at 6:05); the second one , available on the "Live at Gdansk", end of the same tour, is some much better, with complicity and experience (ruclips.net/video/zrProK5R7ms/видео.html)! Anyway, I love the special appearance and was jealous that David wasn t there during the whole tour!
@@germainurien3441 I love your analysis!
...even though he’s a pilot, yeah right.
Hello.... is there anybody out here?....Yes, I'm Mr. Gilmour. I love you both...... don't make me take a choice. For me it's the best band ever called Pink Floyd.. tic tac..tic..tac
Only Roger Waters is that crazy to put grandpa up on the ladder and make him play guitar solos and sing.
What a show that would have been to be at.
These two really need to get over their hate for one another. Even if no new music is produced; to carry this on to death is such a shame.
Falta el 10 EL DIEGOOOOOL Y ESTARÍA TODA LA BANDA. POR LO MENOS PARA MÍ
O que foi isso?
Lindo demais 😍
that's a special technique of picking actually
No dislikes, fuck yeah
Only when a genius makes mistakes it sounds great
I don't think he liked being that high... He rarely makes any.
No
the departed brought me here
Anyway it's like
them two should sort out the shit.. life is too short and they do well together x
EL MALDITO EGO..LOS 2 SON GRANDES ..MAS GILMOUR
is the whole show recored like dis?
EVERY SINGLE TIME you think David and Roger are friends again, some new bullshit happens that kills any and all hope for that ever happening.

Why did this band breakup?
slickcross cause waters
Because waters is bad
Roger waters tried to steal the show and make it his thing instead of their thing
Can anyone tell me which show it was where the two of them held hands in the air after the solo?
Syd Richard roger David nick
Eh youtube muted it lol. They might of well of just remoce the video.

3:00 mistake???? xDDD
you complaining?
Why is that funny?
How's that funny from 8 years ago
Unfortunately, Gilmour repeated the first verse instead of singing the second. Awesome otherwise.
No he doesn't. 1st Chorus is "When I was a child I had a fever, my hands felt just like 2 balloons..." The 2nd chorus is "When I was a child I caught a fleeting glimpse out of the corner of my eye..." which is what he says.
@@brianholm1404 Where is?: The child is grown.... The dream is gone
@@brianholm1404 Yes he does. At 4:40 he’s supposed to say “I turned to look but it was gone, I cannot put my finger on it now, the child is grown, the dream is gone” but he repeats the ending of the first chorus instead.
Yeah it's a shame he messed that bit up. The very end of the second solo sounded a little off too. Probably nerves. There is a clip of Roger's face as DG gets the lyrics wrong sort of scowling on a different version
6:27 I came.

David was not specially brilliant that night
try to play the guitar at that height, with the cold and an imminent fear of heights
@@alienwarvaca does he actually have a fear of heights? if yes, that's an epic dick move by Roger
agreed. 2005 was better
@@mayoite160 No, he was a pilot for many years and flew airplanes so no.
Agreed struggling, dont know why
Weird ?
It's too much good sound. Where is a noise?
It gives no impression about crazy madness of a crowd cheering.
As if Gilmour is just playing Comfortably numb and nothing special is happening...
Unlike many other non professional phone videos do.
Yeah that's what we want - deafening crowd noise!
Get out of here, you Muppet.
@Jon Todd I mean the atmosphere. The people around. Evidently there is noise reduction applied. And no one can hear the crowd.
@Jon Todd I've seen another videos where the most emotions are caused by audience reaction.
Definitely not Gilmour's best work..
I'm pretty sure he won't give Roger his best..Face it those guys can't stand each other..
Roger Waters is so melodramatic is ridiculous..
Hard to dislike any video of Comfortably Numb but there are better versions of it on RUclips. Gilmour seemed a little off his game this night. Roger Waters was unimpressive, to say the least.
Why would Roger be unimpressive here? He's singing it in the same way since 1979
when is Roger not unimpressive
I agree, great to see them together and this is one of my favorite videos because of it, but it's not the best live version of Comfortably numb. My favorite is from David's "Live at Pompeii 2016" gig.
Waters is a genius. Gilmour is a genius too, but a little bit less
No. He's genius on guitar playing
please leave this video for future generations .... please
