      If your A1C level went from 5.6 to 6, your blood sugar is running higher throughout the day. (Type 1 Diabetic for 24 years and Natural Health Professional here). If higher blood sugars are not the goal, you should consider other meal planning samples with more protein, raw veggies/salads for fiber, healthy fats and fewer high carbs/sugars.

    I love your what I eat in a week videos! Recently I’ve been interested in the different phases during the menstrual cycle. What you would recommend eating during those different phases? I’ve heard aside from your everyday food needs, it’s recommended to nourish your body high in certain nutrients and vitamins during each phases. What do you think?

    • @drclairelockridgend

      Hey, I am so glad that you are liking the content!
      So cycle syncing is an interesting concept. There is some evidence to suggest that women may experience changes in calorie expenditure/ nutrient utilization during different phases of the menstrual cycle. To be honest I think that this gets very overhyped on social media. In my opinion there are a lot of other things to focus on, rather than specific foods at specific times. I think that slowing down and resting more during certain phases can be very helpful, but a large part o f that is also based on how you feel. As always actually listening to you body is the best tool.
      Hope that helps💚

    It seems like generally in your weeks you eat a decent amount of FODMAPS, clearly not an issue for you but do you have a perspective for those with digestive issues?

    • @drclairelockridgend
      @drclairelockridgend  7 месяцев назад

      Hey! So when I was healing my digestion I focused more on well cooked, low FOD MAP foods. For example instead of having a salad for lunch I would have roasted vegetables or a soup! I think the low FOD MAP diet can be a great short term tool for digestive health while focusing on all the other things that will help heal and support digestion!
      Hope that helps!💚

    Would love to hear your views on fat in the diet causes insulin resistance..many plant based Doctors say no more than 20-30 grams a day

    • @drclairelockridgend
      @drclairelockridgend  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hey! So a lot of times they are recommending that to try and get peoples triglycerides down, as high TGs are involved in insulin resistance. I think that it can be helpful for some people who are really struggling with the cardiometabolic aspect of it! But it is important to remember that not all fats are the same. The source and the processing of fats matter too! Things like cold pressed EVOO, avocado, nuts and seeds are going to be a lot different than a lot of fats we eat today!

    What about this is for people with blood sugar conditions? You put freaking sugar in your coffee. Add things like balsamic vinegar, and maple syrup into meals and there's way to many potatoes a starch in the meals. You even have white pasta in here like what!? What kind of diet for blood sugar control is this!? My doctor said none of these foods are things people with blood sugar issues should be eating regularly promoting this for blood sugar control is dangerous and misleading.

    • @drclairelockridgend
      @drclairelockridgend  7 месяцев назад +10

      Hey, I never claim that my diet is 100% perfect, infact I think having a perfect diet would be impossible.
      Like I said in the video there is a lot more that goes into blood sugar control then simply the carbohydrate component of the meal. Insulin signaling, inflammation, polyphenol content, gut health, and meal composition all play a role too. Like I siad in the video it is bout creating a high quality diet that will support overall metabolic function and signaling!

    • @lacie3520
      @lacie3520 6 месяцев назад +2

      I'm wondering if your doctor has had nutrition education because most do not. Claire is a naturopathic doctor, and they do. She uses coconut sugar and real maple syrup, both of which do not cause the same insulin spikes as regular white sugars and are also healthier than chemically made sugar free substitutes. As for potatoes; did you not listen to the part about resistance starch? It is also important to note how many other vegetables are consumed with her potatoes and pasta. More fiber helps slow down digestion, preventing high insulin spikes. I hope this helped❤
