  • Buying the perfect discus and discus tank mates for my 90 gallon aquarium. I picked up the beautiful new discus from Chicago Discus, where I had done a behind the scenes tour video a few weeks back. The new discus are incredible and doing well. I also added the rummynose tetras to the tank after they were in quarantine about 8 weeks. In today's video, I added corydoras as well, completing the overall setup of this 90 gallon aquarium.

    Troy,
This looks fantastic. I am glad you got your Cory cat's. I love the discus and the rummy nose tetras and how they are schooling together and give the aquarium activity. Cory cats are busy beavers and are fun to watch. Appreciate the video.

Not gonna lie, the segment where you organized that big mess was the most inspirational part of the video.
So many channels try to give aquascaping inspiration, but what I really need right now is fish room mess organizing inspiration! Haha

FYI, those AQC gel cap-style root tabs often float up through sand. I personally find that the Seachem Flourish root tabs are easier to keep under the sand, especially if you have catfish digging in sand. Anyway, I hope it works out well for you.

Hi there again. I like the your aquascaping of the 90 gallon discus tank. I am running into something challenging. I have a 90 gallon tank that has been running 4 1/2 month with 4 small Cory’s & a medium Angel fish. It’s time to add my discus. Is there a way of adding more sand without it swirling around my tank & getting in my canister & a Tidal 110 h.o.b? Thanks for your time. Sincerely, Marty B

    • @CichlidBros

I would use a cup to add it in gradually. And possibly do a small water change with the filters off while you add it in
