Quelle Joie de vs entendre Mr STARKER. J . S .BACH EN EST L" Architecte ' Quel bonheur ' C.schickel. QUEL TALENT ' MERCI
My favourite recording of this and the other suites
Harmonically warmth, It's absolutely musical from a solo cello. A beautiful interpretations.
Came back to this version after years of not hearing it. Nice point you made-the warmth comes from the structure, not the tone (at least as recorded)
Janos, the Great. He outcarols them all fellow cello players. His sound was of unequalled warmth and serenity.
Fellow cellists, Deal with it!
When people say music from the 60’s was great I’m like “yes, Starker playing Bach and Sir Colin Davis recording Berlioz Requiem”
Quintessential!
He's truely a Great Master.
Still my favorite one - incredible intensity, especially towards the end
possibly one of the greatest technicians on the cello in the 20th century
Such command!!!
