I am comparing this to the Jean-Guihen Queyras video recording he did in a big, tall, empty hall/church. While Queyras had a more gentle approach to the interpretation, although he played part 1 in three minutes, while Janos Starker played it slowly, extending it to over 4 minutes! Yet Straker's approach was more aggressive. I prefer the gentle touch of Queyras, yet the tone and artifacts that Starkers brings out in this performance cannot be denied.
For me the best version of all the cello suites of Bach ❤
