Thanks Colin. It’s a strange thing to explain but having you all watching and enjoying the adventures inspires me to keep looking for new spots. Stoked you’re enjoying it mate
I know I say it every single week mate, but WOW!! How special a place, and how lucky are we to live in this country! I miss the cape! Can’t wait for the tourists to slow down up there a bit one day soon and I’ll be back! I miss it! Traveled around the cape for 4 months ten years ago not as many people traveling up there then! Have been back for three short trips since but you are making me neeeeed it baaaad now! Haha Thanks so much again Nath! Once again, top notch! Dane is a legend and I bloody love all you guys showcase for us! Yeeeeeewwww! Froth level MAXIMUM!
I love your feedback Jay. So good to hear mate. Yeah I was up there 10 years ago and I know what you mean. There are still plenty of quiet spots to discover. We might bump into you up there one day 🤙🏼
Gidday bros I’m from nz and a hot tip about oysters is they are at their biggest in winter and they are smaller in summer because that’s when they are spawning. Be awesome to see them in the winter when the whole shells are full. As always tho love watching all your episodes and they always give me inspiration to get out myself. Cheers wild reaches
Yeah boys! Cheers for another great episode. Oysters off the rocks are so good. Thanks for showing us more of the great country up there in the far North.
Yeah I did mate. These are stories iv heard about for years. Everyone always asks do we see crocs come into camp and why do we sleep in the trees. That is why. Precautions…
Excellent loved this one chaps, those oysters were something else and the fish looked delicious....Ah well of to the chip shop!!! :) Take care until next time....Cheers from the UK.
Those oysters, Yaass please. $54 Doz in Newcastle as big as your thumb. Another great ep to keep the sanity going. Thanks for the effort on the sound 👍 🙏 Cheers
Great video footage of the Cape!! You should check out Stanage Bay in central QLD for big oysters and some of the biggest mud crabs in Australia as well as great fishing and wildlife. Cheers
Chef's advice: Wasabi Kewpie mayo.... yumm! or pickle ginger and kewpie! If you pre flour your fish and oyster's the batter will stick better. Wicked episode guys :) Jezza and Courtney
I don’t think there is any other duo I would love to watch eat some bush Tucker hahaha!!! I’m literally laying in bed after a crazy 2 yr old parent day. Pretending I’m with you mates haha - cheers! As for dipping check out siete hot sauces or a a classic white wine vinegar:)
Get someone to sew you midgie ear nets. 🤣 blood on makkie, looks like a long slim bait , 🤣 You guys also put me on to rice bran oil.. Yum share those oysters & fish... Enjoy,😁
Stoked you enjoyed it mate!! I’m no expert so I’m sure others will jump in here and let you know.. but they are a different family group mate so complete different fish. Same habitat sometimes but cod are found in a lot of different environments. I reckon they’re both super tasty with similar looking flesh. Coral trout are better tho 😉
great sauce with BB oysters is a sweet/sticky soy. just get soy sauce and reduce it down with a crapload of brown sugar, maybe a hint of chilli to taste
Don’t think so mate. Iv always been under the impression you can’t target them. If you catch one whilst targeting something else you have to de hook them in the water if possible 😳…
@@WildReaches hmmm ok never new that doesn't really make sense cause how do you prove someone is targeting a fish but fair enough I don't live up that way you would know more then me
@@WildReaches It would be great to capture your first impressions if you do. that sauce works well on toasted bread as well, then there's the natural or Greek yoghurt variant..
Id dip them in kfc sweet n sour, or plumb bbq. im lovin what you guys have done with cooking them. I go starcke once a year but will be more frequent when i move to cairns and ill go further south next time for hand sized oysters haha
No we didnt mate. not yet anyway. What a crazy rule, I understand not taking them home or taking mass numbers but taking a handful each up the beach a bit to cook them at camp...

Wapachachilli sweet as chilli sauce is my favorite for dipping deep fried seafood👌
I agree, great northern is the best for beer batter 😎
Best to drink while making beer batter too 😉
Hey boys it lucas here the one you meet at the Musgrave roadhouse that night. A simple dip is mayonnaise and tomato sauce. It is the bomb

Iv heard a bit about this place, past it sooo many times. I’ll drop in there one day for sure
Nice work guys, Kewpie with a bit of Cayenne Pepper or Paprika mixed in for a quick dipping sauce...it's a winner. Keep the vids coming
Yessss! That sounds good and easy. Paprika is going in the box now
Chef's advice: Wasabi Kewpie mayo.... yumm! or pickle ginger and kewpie! If you pre flour your fish and oyster's the batter will stick better. Wicked episode guys :) Jezza and Courtney
Thanks for the tips guys, thats awesome.
Japanese mayo is the best!
That creek mouth can be tricky eh, awesome place to stay up there
Yep, a lot of shallow river mouths up that way.
Another awesome video guys 🤜🤛... I thought there would be more coconut palms up those ways?
Yeah so did we. Its so handy having them on the beach. They are just around that southern point tho
those big oysters fry in breadcrumbs delicious.
So cool that you can feel like your part of the adventure all the way from the States. That really excites me. Stoked you’re enjoying it Michael.
Get someone to sew you midgie ear nets. 🤣 blood on makkie, looks like a long slim bait , 🤣 You guys also put me on to rice bran oil.. Yum share those oysters & fish... Enjoy,😁
Yeah the bloodline should be used for bait so there’s no waste! Glad you enjoyed it Jan. it was so tasty.
Another great Vid guys, Go the Yamaha 60hp 4/ Ive owned 3 of them the best donks, Love cooked blacklipped osters, raw no thanks
We’ve just upgraded it mate, was a bit small for the boat. Thanks Craig, stoked you liked it mate
kewpie and chili sauce lads. mix it up together. breaks up the grease of the batter. great episodes as always
Thanks Michael, yes thats one of my favourite combos!
Living the dream!
yep I agree!
Another mint upload from the boys always well worth the watch.
Hey what’s the difference between a cod and a coral trout?
Stoked you enjoyed it mate!! I’m no expert so I’m sure others will jump in here and let you know.. but they are a different family group mate so complete different fish. That sounds soooo good. I need to make a little list of all these to keep in the cruiser
Correct me if im wrong but off season you can target barra but you just can't keep them
Don’t think so mate. Iv always been under the impression you can’t target them. If you catch one whilst targeting something else you have to de hook them in the water if possible 😳…
@@WildReaches hmmm ok never new that doesn't really make sense cause how do you prove someone is targeting a fish but fair enough I don't live up that way you would know more then me
Soy and Lemon 👍
yes! great combo
Cracking episode , you Guys don’t seem to suffer from the Midgies bites ?
Be careful of the crocs easy to forget croc awareness when fishing 👍
Thanks Craig. Oh we suffer! Only at the time tho, they don’t flare up later. Yep, you really need a reminder every now and then
Dip them in lemon juice. maybe white pepper in the batter. cheers bro
That sounds good too! We had that on board
so if I was in cape Melville with my tinny ? I wouldn't be allowed to fish ??
Just need to get the correct zoning map for the area mate. There are all sorts of zones all in small areas.
@@WildReaches ahk fair enough then.. I was thinking it might be too far out for a tinny to travel
Dip those oysters in a combo of mayo (kewpie) and Nando's Peri Peri...🤤
Reading all these comments is making me hungry!
Beer battered or crumbed oysters anyday for me, keep your mud crab.😊
Corn flour with self-raising for extra crunch 🤙
Crunch, yes. Dane was saying we should try some shredded coconut next time too to get some crunch
Dip them into a , olive oil + basil + coriander + garlic and a hint of chilli sauce.
Loving all these sauce ideas!! Thanks 🙏🏼
@@WildReaches It would be great to capture your first impressions if you do. that sauce works well on toasted bread as well, then there's the natural or Greek yoghurt variant..

Everything is better fresh hey!
I'm thinking dip one of those massive oysters in batter and bread crumbs and make an oyster burger ! World first ?
How good would that be!
Id dip them in kfc sweet n sour, or plumb bbq. im lovin what you guys have done with cooking them. I go starcke once a year but will be more frequent when i move to cairns and ill go further south next time for hand sized oysters haha
Its a ripper spot. So is Cairns mate, what a good spot to live
seafood sauce- tomato sauce and mayo mixed up for a sauce
sounds good, thats an old classic that one
9/10 on the anti-skinning.
When I find oysters like that I throw the whole rock in the coals and wait for them to pop, eat them half cooked or cook them completely on the fire!!
That’s one of my favourite ways too Merv. Gets that Smokey flavour. 👌🏼
So ever had a Bluff oysters sorry they have to be the best
No I havent mate
Wasabi mayo
Did you lads cop any grief about cooking those oysters? It's illegal to bring oysters back to camp.
No we didnt mate. not yet anyway. What a crazy rule, I understand not taking them home or taking mass numbers but taking a handful each up the beach a bit to cook them at camp...
@@WildReaches yeah its silly isn't it. Enjoyed the episode as usual.
