This is literally my car. Thank you so much for posting this. I'm super passionate about mine. It's the exact same as the one in the video and has about 70,000 miles. I'm going to drive it into the grave.
My daily is an 03 LL Bean. I love it so much. I've had 7 Subarus so far and it's my favorite I've owned. The h6 has enough power to get around and it gets me 24 mpgs all around. It's super comfortable especially being 4000 pounds. I have my 05 Cooper for the fun car and my outback to tow it home when it blows up LOL. Also, the xt6 was Subarus first 6 cyl, then the svx, then this :D
it has onstar because gm had stock in subaru, and also saab and thats how we got the 92-x which is the saab version of the wrx. also the vw phaeton had onstar too....
This car has OnStar because GM had 20% ownership of Subaru in the early 2000s. They even sold a badge engineered Forester as a Chevy in India under the same name.
IMO, 212HP from a six cylinder that wasn't turbocharged or supercharged and wasn't meant for sports car application wasn't bad in 2004. The 3.3 V6 from Toyota at the time made similar HP (about 200-210). I believe those were paired with a five speed auto instead of the four speed on this.
5 speed was added in facelifted 4th gen legacies/3rd gen Outbacks, and engine got revised and had 245hp just the next year.(or well more like latter part of 2004, Subaru tended to switch model years around summer)
Currently own a 2002 outback with all of these add ons also, but with the 2.5L and I love it, super comfortable daily driver, all the heated extras are extremely useful. Approaching the 190k mark and I plan to drive it til it shoots a piston out the fender.
I LOVE IT. It's in such great shape. I wish my 2004 Subaru Outback 2.5 wagon was that kind of shape. I still love it, even with all the rust damage underneath in the back.
So it actually didn't get Subaru's best awd at the time, that would be the VDC trim with variable torque distribution as opposed to the ll bean's run of the mill act-4. Also, the steering wheel is real mahogany. You should really find a VDC for pinnacle gen 2 usdm outback
I had a 2002 Bean. They stole it in Dayton Ohio. The Subaru I have will live again soon! (Maybe even get it running better for you to review again lol!)
My 1998 Forester S has heated mirrors. Its a nice feature but Subaru has had it around a while. Also that "metal cargo net" is probably a divider to keep your dog in the back.
Only problem with these is that there's no curtain airbags, which protect your head in the event of a side collision such as getting T-boned. Not everyone has an issue with this but personally, enough to make me look at the 3rd gen instead which has all the modern airbags. (plus are 5-speed with more horsepower)
Having owned a 2000 5 speed with the EJ25, I can't believe the auto is that much slower. I could outrun just about any V8 truck in the 60-80 sprint in its prime. But it was turning something like 3400rpm at 70mph, right in the chonk of its 166hp.
Zach, Am I weird because I got excited when I saw an Outback Sedan? Had no idea they even made these but I am trying to decide if losing the hatch practicality is worth it to get something unique. If I buy this I blame this video. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Powered seats in a subaru is an absolute tragedy I would have this in my top five to own list if not for that and a couple of the other upper crust american based offerings honestly
I alway love the wagon, especially this kind of Japanese wagon. It couldn’t be found morden time these days. Outback change the face and style too much like a SUV also lost the bright style as usual. These days I am just looking for family 2nd car, and aimed 2004 3.0 version top tream of the Outback. The price could be 8900CAD$, I think it's too much, even the mileage is just over 180,000km. Even the interal on decent conditions😭, It too much.
You wanna know slow my dude, I'll give you the keys to my 2017 Toyota Corolla IM 6 speed. - I'm currently driving my winter car which is an 08 Impreza 2.5i auto its a way better car than my corolla.
Zach flooring it and giving it the LL Beans
OMG DEAD 💀
Lmfaoooooo

Awesome car indeed. Does it need premium gas or regular? I had an ‘01 Forester L and absolutely loved it. Really considering an LL Bean Outback next.
@@Mike_44 I believe all of Subaru's H6s took regular. Only the turbo 4s require premium.

he said svx and alcyone but just pronounced alcyone really weird
01 H6 VDC owner here, my daily as well and love it. Smooth and reliable. Also I have 97 Jeep ZJ Orvis for a weekend getaway.

as well as the saab 9-2x lol

I got and 03 Outback 2.5 with more than 400,000 miles on it

I own a 2004 Subaru Outback station wagon 3.0 H-6 cylinder engine & its the best all wheel drive wagon 😊

I just don't get that everyone mentions horsepower buy not torque. Torque is more important matter for this kind of vehicle, in my opinion.
Why?
I have a 2003 ll bean and loved this video ❤️

Great review, but the dude didn't show us the seats folding all the way down. Main reason for coming...

Dude thank you very much for this video! Trying to purchase one from a private owner. Man I feel like I know more about the car than he does now 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome review!!
I'm also trying to purchase one of these from a private party. It's a 2002MY in great shape and only has 71K miles, one owner.
i have this car. got her at 197 k and almost a year later... shes pretty stable for my first car at 200k

I subscribed brother. It sure would be kool to get a video on adjusting your drivers seat and your mirrors. In return.
You my guy are a Natural ... thanks for the info
I love these cars so much
Are they reliable? Also how expensive are repairs
@@sylasmalone6126 They are more reliable than a four-cylinder models.

Have identical one but 01- had an exhaust tune and it sounds like a Porshe 😆
That steering wheel is actual wood, btw.

Was that second wagon a Custom Cruiser?

Does the temperature light stay on
Your ll bean seats are comfortable?? Mine feel like pieces of plywood
And the pouch for your manual isn't disintegrating??
11:24 Zach does NOT like brown

A lesbians dream.
You're talking about the Forrester not the Outback
Xt6 from the 80s......
