Great video... Thanks. I need your book... There's a lot to learn about basses... Boy, it's worth it... A good bass with a good set of strings is PRICELESS.
I have a 2004 Mexican Jazz that I installed the KickAss bridge on. I have owned many basses from Peavey Dyna Unity to a bought new 1975 Fender Jazz. The Nex Jazz is my favorite! Great bridge!
Lovely tone! ❤ This beautiful red J-Bass wasn't made in Mexico City, as you mentioned. All MIMs are built in Ensenada, Baja California, since late 80's. Just like Japanese Fenders, the quality of these basses depends on the year they were built on.
Problem with shimming neck is it raises string stiffness, tho not raising tension. Love the string space adjustment on that bridge and the sustain, but had to ditch it for a gotoh because I didnt like the extra stiffness from the shim. Only reason I had to shim was the high mass bridge wouldn't fit. Action was crazy low, but if I put in the high mass bridge I couldn't get the action low enough.
I just grabbed a 2016 MIM Flea Jazz Bass. It's very well built, very close to the 1982 Fender Fullerton '62 Jazz Bass reissue I used to own years ago. Maybe the quality control is better on the Fender MIM artist models?
Well, who knows! I just got a Fender MIM jazz in to pimp, it is around 5 Kilos but has real alder body. Last week´s 2020 MIM was only 3.5 Kilos and really light Weight body wood. Video coming up!
@ I also have a Roger Waters P Bass body with a Steve Harris P Bass neck attached and both are MIM and great workmanship.. I’m going to order your book
Good stuff! Would have loved to hear the bass on the same recording before the work was done, just for a simple comparison. Very glad the MIM basses recently returned to rosewood fingerboards.
Great video...

- 3:20 What oil did you use on the finger board?
in this case, it was Fast Fret, sometimes I use Tung Oil.
Great work
😀thx bro!
Please tell me you're in L.A., I want you to pimp my Sadowsky Jazz Bass.
Sorry bro, I´m on the other side of the Ocean, way back in Germany! 😀

How would you rate the tone and feel of Pyramid flatwounds compared to LaBella flatwounds?
good question! the PYRA Flats might have a bit more of an edge to them, especially the G.
MIMs can be fantastically hot rodded. They usually still weigh a ton.
this one was just 3,2 Kilos, that´s why the guy wanted the upgrade.
the MIM jazz I got in today is 5 Kilos.😁
Arnold Schwarzenegger of bass 😅
hasta la vista Baby!

ja gut, Halsposition wäre Billy Sheehan.
