It was recommended to watch this video to see the Icon sew leather. I have no interest in cosplay nor finding out how to make gloves but boy did I enjoy watching you do this. I forgot why I was originally watching the video and ended up absorbed in the process. Thank you.
I am much older than you .. I have been a “sew-er” since I was 23 ... many years. I was very impressed with your tutorial (a hard thing to achieve) .. keep up the great work. Sewing is a lost art in the new generation and I am glad to see you are so good at it. Great job.
I forgot to mention, I have many machines, all different models of machines, sergers, long arm quilting machines and embroidery machines.. but have two Pfaff embroidery machines that I really love. This machine you are working with shows the superiority of the Pfaff machines.
Top Notch tutorial. I don't do cosplay, but I wanted to learn to make work and winter gloves. I never thought about adding a magic jewel or fur to my work gloves, but you make the idea compelling. I see no reason why I can't be fabulous while clearing debris from my yard. Thanks for being so generous with your skills and knowledge! Also, if Pfaff doesn't already pay you to use their machine, they should start.
Wow, this is exactly what I was looking for. I have been cosplaying for 6 years and still to this day, I have never sewn proper gloves. Because people said it was too hard. And when I tried to do the "trace your hand on the fabric", with just two sides, it didn´t go well, it was too tight even though I chose stretch fabric. And the tips didn´t look nice. So here I am, finally finding a pattern and PROPER instructions. I´m so gonna learn from this and finally start making my own pair of gloves. Also, I´m so glad that this video from 2018, still existed for me to find it today.
- Beautifully clear demonstration & directions. Gloves are not easy but this is the absolute BEST tutorial on glove making to date. What type of contact glue is used ? It certainly helped to make the "tiny" seams easier to complete neatly. Thanx a multimillion for sharing.
Thank you very much for your thorough tutorial, AND the free pdf pattern! I've been trying to copy a pair of gloves that I already own, because the fingers are too short. It's been difficult, probably because I wasn't "copying" the pattern properly. Your pattern looks almost exactly how my existing glove appears, and I wasn't cutting the shapes correctly. I assumed the notches in the thumb and flap on the body of the glove were "spaces", not notches. THANK YOU! I can't wait to try it out.
Im making a Lina Inverse costume myself. So great to see such expert gloves based on her design. Where did you get the half sphere gems for the bracelets?
@@alchemicalcosplay5132 Thought so. Definitely will eventually try resin. But my main hurdle will be worling with craft foam this time. I want to nail the look of Lina's pauldrons.
Well, without being super sure what your claws look like? I would say to try EVA foam or foam board covered in reflective vinyl to make them look metallic, then glue or see them onto the gloves when they're finished!
Hi, I have faux leather but they are not two way stretch or in short, cannot stretch. Can I still do your method if it’s not stretchy or is there something I have to do differently? Thank you and sorry for the trouble.
I would recommend continuing to look for a material with four-way stretch. It is possible to make gloves with just a 2-way stretch material, but I found it to be way more difficult, and uncomfortable to wear!
Yes definitely! I'd suggest making one hand first, to make sure the pattern fits you through the hand and fingers before you cut material for elbow length gloves :)

Thanks dear, I've been searching since yesterday, this is the simplest video and pattern, really thanks :)
This is so smart! I never would have thought of using contact cement to hold things in place while I sew, but it makes so much sense!

Where did you get the half sphere gems for the bracelets?
I cast those! You can buy silicone half sphere moulds in pretty much any size, and resin casting can be pretty fun if you're open to trying it :)

Im trying to learn to make gloves for a cosplay but the gloves need metal claws. How would you sew metal claws onto them?

What’s the room you’re using?
Kann man sich auch Lederhandschuhe selber Nähen lassen?
can i lengthen the pattern for elbow length gloves?
Yes definitely! I'd suggest making one hand first, to make sure the pattern fits you through the hand and fingers before you cut material for elbow length gloves :)
