I have always loved this song.......twice when I was singing this for church I was cantering......I could not control the tears..... thats just how this song touches my soul.....even now the tears are welling up......I've learned that I have to do some mental preparation before i sing this......MAJOR preparation.....
I first sung this hymn when I went back to church. It’s a calling, it spoke to what brought me back. When I sing or hear it, I get a little overcome because it speaks to something fundamental to my being. This is a beautiful rendition! Thank you. ❤️
@@antoniomoyal That’s not entirely true. Beauty draws the human mind to God, which is why Catholic churches are generally beautiful. Obviously, God has told us that He is wherever two or three are gathered in His name, so we know that He’s present in every church, no matter how plain. But beautiful architecture and music are pleasing to Him and to us.
I've Loved this song from the first time I heard it. It speaks to me. If we, as Christ's family, had the dedication to Simply follow Christ, to live and love like Christ, we wouldn't be afraid to answer the calls God makes on our hearts, our world would definitely be a better place. And more would come to know the love of Jesus Christ.
So beautifully played and sung, the love of God overwhelms went I get part way through. Thank you for sharing your talent for us to melt into God s Love.
Love this song learned to sing it because of you and we sang it at choir just a few weeks ago and it causes me to want to serve God even more ✝️🙏🏽❤️ thank you 🙏🏽
As usual, just a very beautiful rendition, Chris! Every time I have to rehearse for Mass I always look for your videos to practice and sing along with! 👍
I have to be honest--I never liked this song until I watched this video. Simple and well played. It gets the point across so much better than all the "production" numbers. Great job, Chris.
Lyrics (continuation): Will you love the 'you' you hide If I but call your name? Will you quell the fear inside And never be the same? Will you use the faith you've found To reshape the world around, Through my sight and touch and sound In you and you in me? Lord, your summons echoes true When you but call my name. Let me turn and follow you And never be the same. In your company I'll go Where your love and footsteps show. Thus I'll move and live and grow In you and you in me.
Thanks! I have another recording of this posted but it's one of my older ones (from down in my basement). I'm trying to go through and re-record those (which is why I also re-recorded "Worthy Is The Lamb" tonight)
Oh, I love Worthy is the Lamb too. I've viewed many of your videos and I've learned a lot of hymns! from you. I think I might sing the Summons this weekend...it's really so beautiful! Thanks for recording this hymn again.
You're welcome! For some of these ones I am re-recording, I haven't yet decided if I'm going to leave the old one up. I probably will....that original recording of this song (and of "worthy is the lamb") are some of my highest view count videos
Chris...I can't remember which hymn but I've seen the old and new recording and I like them both. I remember the new videos were clearer with better audio and the older one was good too and you were very comfy at home in your own music room. I'm ok with all that you've recorded so far cos it has helped me a lot. Right now in my phone I have five of six of your hymn videos.. Angkata wan ni Kristo & Anthem. I play them frequently all the time. Chris..Thank you for the videos. David.
This is my vocation song! Thank you for such a beautiful rendition! God bless you Chris! I'm a new fan from the Philippines! Stay safe and God keep you in his care!
What a beautiful song! Heard it for the first time last week when we practiced for Mass. It's been playing in my head since. The words are awesome and you sang so beautifully 👍
Thank you for such a beautiful presentation. God has blest you with such a nice, heart melting voice and the way you play the guitar deserves a round applause. Felt so touched. Blessings from Malaysia.
This is so beautifully sung and performed - thank you for posting it. The words really come alive, and the lovely guitar brings out the simple beauty of the melody.

Man I wish I could help you....you aren't the first person to ask for tabs for this "arrangement". I'm just playing off the leadsheet...I don't read or write tabs. But maybe there's a service out there that can do that kind of thing? Best of luck
Thanks! I play a Larrivee guitar (sorry I don’t know the model off the top of my head). When I do my videos I run it through a Fishman loud box mini amp that is off screen about 5 feet and pointed away from the camera. It gives it a better sound but doesn’t overwhelm my voice. So it’s not terribly scientific
Hi Chris, I’ve just come across this hymn. It’s very nice indeed and your fingerstyle arrangement is terrific. Almost sounds like there is a second guitar. Query; with your right hand fingers I M A are you picking AMI or IMA ?
Well....it’s a Larrivee. Canadian company I believe. I’m not sure of the model, I’d have to go look. I think I bought it about 15 years ago and I’ve been REALLY happy with it.
Hey Chris What a powerful song and so artfully done. I am a competent guitarist looks like some pretty standard chords - could you possibly point me to where you learned this ? Or is it your arrangement? We sing it at church I mean the picking pattern you are using, the transitions between chords, that kind of detail
I’m just playing off the lead sheet, using the chords on the music. So I suppose it’s my “arrangement” but I don’t think if it that way. Such a wonderful piece. I use it regularly at church so I’ve gotten used to playing this way
This is the chord progression i was playing from, but I capoed to 5 and played C instead of capo 3 playing D. dh8zy5a1i9xe5.cloudfront.net/shared/pdf/preview/30126727.pdf
Sorry for making the same basic post Chris...here it goes again: "Thank you so much". Yeah, that doesn't seem to really express my gratitude, but...yeah...
Chris.......I did the research in John Bell, as a music minister, I research all authors of songs, to my surprise this song is not Catholic. John Bell is a music song writer but also a minister of the church of Scotland. Please illuminate me, those the Diocese allow non Catholic music at Mass? What is the rule? I'm having the same problem at my Diocese. They seem to play anything at mass as long as it sounds pretty. With thousands of Catholic songs written through history, why are we playing music from non Catholics? I guarantee you you would not hear the Salve Regina sung at the 1st Baptist church of Galveston. See my point. If I am wrong, correct me. We are Catholic, we are brothers, we are musicians. There is a huge responsibility when we pick up our guitars, huge.
Absolutely beautiful performance. But, ads BEFORE Christian videos is so unchristian. We are not ruled by the materialism of this world. Why would a serious Christian abuse other people with advertising when they trust in God to provide? This is a major disruption to the mind and soul. Please! If you truly love and trust God, show it by not subjecting us to worldly advertising desperation.

Thanks for this hymn! May the Lord bless you abundantly!!
I sang this for my Mom’s funeral mass last May (2024). It was one of her favorites. Your rendition is beautiful. ❤
Students are listening to your music as they wrote in class today.😇
Wonderful!!!!

Beautiful. I wish all churches could have such inspiring music to accompany the mass. Churches would be packed again.

It is God what you are looking for. The rest is only decoration. So the worse the Church, the more you will see God.

Love it. Most inspired version I've hear.
Thank you very much. It's an amazing powerful song
Thank you for all you do. These videos are very helpful. At some point will you able to put guitar tabs on the screen?
Sadly, I don't read or write tabs. I wouldn't know where to start :-(
