    acetylcholine prevents hypoxic damage in general, so might also be useful in scd in that sense. Now that I think about it, that may be why piracetam works for scd, because it increases acetylcholine release and use. Instead of it being a chelator. Because if it were a chelator, you would see hair loss as one possible side effect if used too much, but people use very large doses and none of that.
